just did the airport train trip today too.....and lis is spot on. I believe it opened on 31 August. Trains every 15 minutes....clean and cool, and only 15 baht to Phaya Thai interchange station The trip takes 27 minutes. This station links with the Skytain, and another 15 minutes later (and another 25 baht) , I was in Nana. In total less than 45 minutes from the airport. Recommended!!

Thanks reacted to Two Shots in BTS Skytrain open to Suvarnabhumi?
Just done the airport run to nana, easy as chips. Airport rail link to end of line, about 7 stops, 15baht. Jump on the skytrain ,which is about a 30 second walk away, to Nana, 25 baht. Total cost 40baht. Little bit slower than taxi and a couple of stairs to hump luggage down but nothing to worry about. I did it at just after nine in morning and no hassle what so ever. There is an express train that runs to Makasan station costs 100 baht at moment. Makasan is two stops shy of the end of the line, transport hub to be, but only one express train passed my all stopping train so unless ones timing was spot on and didnt have to wait for it, it wouldnt have been significantly quicker. sorted.
Ideal if your staying in soi 6, off at nana hang a left turn into first soi and your less than a minutes walk from DG etc.

American Eagle has problems with so-called "linked images" sometimes also referred to as remote images, external images or embedded images.
Unlike images uploaded to the forum server (hosted images) they are hosted on a different server (i.e., are non-hosted images).
Some forum members, like American Eagle, have experienced problems seeing those images. Apparently they are not correctly displayed in their browser.
Since American Eagle writes in red I assume he's using a PC and not a phone (while it's actually possible to change the font color using a phone, it nevertheless is a PITA... Using the desktop site it's a lot easier to change font colors...).
Could this display problem have to do with him probably using a PC? And / or could this problem come from the computer's privacy and security settings? And / or the firewall? Is it a browser issue? Or is JavaScript disabled? Or is there a problem with his OS?
Or is it a cache problem because when someone quotes the post with the image, that image will be displayed in the quote by clicking on the link (but still remains invisible in the original post).
I guess external images are cached on the forum?
    Or...?
The images in question by the way were all embedded in the rich text editor (and not in the HTML editor let alone in Tapatalk...).
    Thanks!

This is a linked gif image by the way.

This company acts as agents for a number of apartment owners and I thought that I would try one of the Bangkok apartments instead of my usual suite at the GRand President.

I booked and paid for 15 days on the 34th floor of the State Tower down near the river. The reviews were nearly all excellent and the photographs were great. The view from the 34th balcony was fabulous.

I arrived at 8pm and boy was I dissapointed! Dingey and grubby and in need of immediate attention. One air con only just worked and the other sounded as if it was suffering from a terminal illness. The bed was so soft it nearly enveloped me. This was not a cheap apartment. There were four chipped and unmatched mugs in the so called kitchen and that was it. The kitchen and bathroom cupboards wwere full of old boxes, polystyrene and general shit and hadn't been cleaned out since Noah's day.. Granted the view was great, but I dont visit Bkk for the hotel views.

I rang the Grand President that night and they gave me a great deal on a newly refurbed suite, so first thing next morning I was out. I did my money but who cares. I had a comfortable suite for the rest of my stay. The stay at the GP cost the same as the apartment(?)

Beware if you are considering this type of accomodation. I'll stick to hotels and well know serviced apartments in the future.

Thanks reacted to Ropey in Using a UK iPhone6 in Thailand
Another option is to buy a portable WiFi, buy a data Sim at the airport when you land and have the shop put it into the portable WiFi. Then you keep the phone with your UK Sim, but connect to the portable WiFi which is running from the Thai data Sim. These devices are small enough to fit in a pocket easily and will need charging after about 12-18 hours depending on the model you buy.

Yeah, in your pic it says Today @ Soi 8...
But I believe it's mainly changed its name from Today @ Soi 8 to Food & Coffee... Perhaps this had something to do with the alcohol ban a few weeks ago...
A coffee shop that only sells alcohol - T.i.T. ...

Now (pics from late June/ early July) it says Food & Coffee... Perhaps India Today was replaced last year by Today @ Soi 8 which itself was replaced by F&C?
Because this picture from inside Today @ Soi 8 from earlier this year

    looks very much like F&C...

Thanks reacted to Siam Man in Swan Inn, Soi 4
I've stayed at Swan Inn on Soi 4 on two different occasions. It's a very cheap option located just past Rajah Hotel Complex on the opposite side of Soi 4. I had stayed in Swan Inn 2 which is further down Soi 4 and a little nicer and bigger rooms. The first time I stayed there I used it as a day room since I had a midnight flight. My hotel on soi 2 couldn't give me a late check out because they were booked full that next day.

I don't think they take reservations and aren't listed on booking sites like Agoda. You basically walk up and see if they have a room around noon. The cost is 700 baht. I think they have 14 rooms total all on the second floor. The internet signal is poor unless you are close to the front. My second day I couldn't get signal in the room. big fridge, 2 free bottles of water, warm water in shower. It would make a a good ST room if you were looking to do multiples near Nana. No safe for valuables. The outlets are antiquated, but I was lucky to have an adapter that worked.

The second time I used it when I ended up changing my flight and staying two extra days. My hotel (Aspen Suites) didn't have any rooms on those dates as they were booked full for the Chinese new year. I thought that may be the story at most places on short notice so I went to this place and paid 2100 baht for 3 nights. Nothing fancy, but okay in a pinch.

thanks but I pay a small amount to renew my retirement visa each year, sometimes it's a work permit - an agent gets my 90-day reports stamped for free - no need to leave the country.
I walked into Bangkok Bank 2 weeks ago, they gave me a new a/c just by seeing my tourist visa. So basically I'm paying 60-65k over the 5 years and life is dandy.
     - but if you're under 50 or can't find a way to stay, I can see why people would pay that much. In special circumstances, sure.

Searching for "ladyboy bar" in Bangkok I keep getting results for a place on Phetkasem 47, between Bang Wa and Bang Khae, on the western outskirts of Krung Thep, close to MRT station Lak Song. Google Plus Code:
    PC66+7H Bangkok, Thailand
Looks like a restaurant to me... but with mostly ladyboys:

Is this some kind of ladyboy restaurant or ladyboy meeting point?

That didn't last long according to Stickman:
"The fun had resumed at Art Box next to Sukhumvit soi 12 and the crowds were back. It felt just like pre-Covid19 with vendors doing a good trade selling food and drinks. The party was back!
But then some jealous sod complained to the police and that was the end of alcohol being sold – and the end of the fun and revelry – at Art Box for the time being."

Critical update to the joiner fee!!!!! I was bringing my 2nd LB for the night and was told that after  10:00 there was a one thousand baht joiner fee!!! I informed the man that I had been bring in guest all week after this time witout the fee. He said that was an error and I should have been charged. I got the fee waived for this one time knowing I was checking out the next morning. So I would get this in writing next time. Excelent hotel except for this one incident and this hotel will go into the banned catagory unless this is untrue and we had a bad nightman. I will call ahead of time before booking again
