  1. Happy Memorial Day!

  2. I'm wondering how Covid-19 will change the way we travel to Bangkok? Will we all be wearing face masks for the duration of the flight on board in the future? How will the flight attendants' uniforms look like? Scoot Eva Air Philippines Airlines Emirates Sri Lankan I think Will pax also have to wear in-flight protective gear? Will there be one aisle for going to the lavatory and another one for returning to the seat? Instead of a welcome Champagne, will we get some sanitizer bottles? MAS Will the cleaning of the aircraft take much longer than before Corona and will therefore the aircraft turnaround time be a lot higher? Will we be greeted with an infrared thermometer gun when we board the plane? Will the middle seats be blocked or even removed in all cabin classes? Will airline food still be available? Only if it's prepackaged? How much will a ticket cost in the future? More than before Corona? Or less because of the low oil / fuel prices?

Thai Airways apparently intends to file for bankruptcy protection which would imply a restructuring of the flag carrier. Guess that process won't be "smooth as silk"... I don't know if bankruptcy protection in Thailand can be compared to Chapter 11 of Title 11 of the US Code for example.
  4. Four more stations will be opening in June 2020 as the existing Sukhumvit green line will be extended from Kasetsart University (North 13 / N13) to Wat Phra Si Mahathat (N17). https://www.bts.co.th/eng/ Do's and don'ts on the BTS: https://twitter.com/i/videos/1244975740979793920

  7. What device, site version, and browser type are you using? Desktop, mobile, iPad, Tapatalk...? Does this video appear correctly in the container here: Or perhaps this one: . The first one is using the post plug-in, the second one the video plug-in code generator. I'm only using the standard Facebook plug-ins: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins For pure video plug-ins this one: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/embedded-video-player/ For post plug-ins this one: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/embedded-posts/

    Embedded Facebook videos

Instead of embedding a Facebook video manually, you can also let the forum software do the whole job. You just have to copy the video link address and paste it into the standard (WYSIWYG) editor here. To find the video address you can right click on the video, click on "display video URL", copy the video URL (video address) and paste it here. Hit enter and the forum software should do its magic... Depending on your browser, app, device and operating system this option to find the video URL may or may not work. If it doesn't work, you can try the following: Go to the desktop version of FB (either by using a PC or by removing the "m" in front of the website address in your mobile browser) and click on the three dots on the upper right hand corner of the post. This should open a menu with the option to copy the link. Do this and paste the link here in the forum editor, hit enter, and wait a second or two before the video shows up. Video embedding works best with high-speed internet connections, such as a good WIFI or at least 4G / LTE. If you are using slow network connections and / or older hardware with little RAM, these posts with embedded media might take a while to load... Example for automatically embedding a Facebook video: The latest CIB Facebook post is this video posted yesterday. On a PC you click on the post, click on the three dots and copy link. Paste this link into the editor here. The link should look like this: https://www.facebook.com/401617183283119/videos/698811364217069/ After the domain name, there's the FB account number, then the word "videos", and finally the video ID. If your link looks a lot different than the one above, then there's something wrong.. Perhaps you copied the web address / URL where the video was posted to instead of the specific address of the video... Again: If you paste this video link here and hit enter / return, the forum software will (should) automatically embed the video... The same principle (i.e., copying the media URL (video URL, audio URL, image URL/ address) can be applied to embed media from other social media sites, such as Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, LinkedIn, Giphy, Tenor, imgurl, Snapchat, Pinterest, twitch, Soundcloud, DeviantArt, Flickr, YouTube, Vimeo, Tumblr, and so on. I think it even works with VK and Whatsapp. I'm not so sure about Chinese sites such as Youku. Good luck! Automatically embedded: Manually embedded:
  9. Chuvit Garden on Sukhumvit Soi 10, close to Check-in Bar, has come to life again. Since 30 May 2019 you can find the Art Box there. Art Box will be in Chuvit Garden until 30 November 2019. They’re open every day from 3pm to midnight. The Art Box is a mix of outdoor night market, live music venue and food and craft beer places. One can eat and drink there before going to CIB for example... After the demolition of Washington Square with its makeshift gogo bars and other girlie bars in 2003, Chuvit garden became first a public park but was finally closed a couple of years ago. The former owner wanted to build a ****hotel there but then dropped those plans... Thanks :-)
  10. Artbox is now open from 9 am till 9 pm. And the Chatuchak antiques flea market is now also open on weekends from 10 am till 9 pm Same for The Camp vintage flea market: Talad Neon Night Market in the Pratunam area could open on June 1st
  11. Yep. And Chatuchak has also opened it's doors today: and my beloved Srinakarin Rod Fai Night Market will follow suit and will reopen next week: .
  12. Artbox is set to reopen tomorrow: .
  13. Happy birthday Nana Group!

    Flight Cancellations at Suvarnabhumi

No more regular international flights to Thailand until the 31st of May:
  15. Hope no one on this board was affected by the cancellations yesterday: http://www.nationmultimedia.com/detail/Tourism/30364951 Is everything back to normal now? https://www.bangkokpost.com/news/transport/1636622/thai-resumes-flights-to-europe Thai airways apparently has resumed flights. Wondering what happened to the passengers who were stranded yesterday?

Air Travel during the New Normal

Delta has recently introduced a new back-to-front boarding process. Passengers are asked to stay seated in the waiting area until their row is announced. That's reality already. Next step I think could be to let window seat passengers take their seats before middle and aisle seat ticket holders. https://thepointsguy.com/news/delta-air-lines-boarding-social-distancing Emirates screens passengers before boarding an aircraft for the corona virus whereby blood is drawn from a finger prick and the results are processed in just 10 minutes. https://www.cntraveler.com/story/emirates-is-giving-rapid-coronavirus-tests-to-passengers-before-boarding/

Air Travel during the New Normal

Emirates' new policy according to the pointsguy website: "The carrier will not allow passengers to board with cabin baggage in an effort to reduce risk of spreading the virus by touch. ... all passengers and crew wear masks and gloves throughout their journey — from check-in until they disembark. All cabin crew, boarding agents and ground staff who come in direct contact with passengers will be outfitted in personal protective equipment, which includes a disposable down over their uniforms and a safety visor — plus a mask and gloves. ... After each journey, the airline said that aircraft will go through enhanced cleaning and disinfection processes in Dubai. ... On board, the airline said that it’s pre-allocating seats so there are vacant seats between individual passengers or family groups in an effort to social distance. Meal services have also been adjusted, as cabin crew will distribute bento box-style meals to passengers in order to minimise contact. Magazines and other print materials have been removed from seatback pockets in order to reduce spread by touch." https://thepointsguy.co.uk/news/emirates-coronavirus-ppe-measures/amp/ Seat map for a Delta Airlines flight from New York to Fort Lauderdale:

    Twitter Videos

Easy-peasy... First step: Get the URL of the video. Second step: to manually embed the video by using the video URL you need an iframe code. Either you know by heart how to write this little sniplet (takes less than a minute...) or you use one of the many free online iframe / embedding tools you find on the internet. Once you've got the iframe code, you copy it and paste it into the HTML editor of this forum. And that's it! Some additional hints: 1. To get the Twitter video URL you can for example use the share button in Twitter. Click on the share symbol (the one with the three dots on the right): On different versions of Twitter (app, mobile, desktop...) the share button may be located in a bit different place... Then click on "Copy link to tweet": You should get the message "copied to clipboard" Paste this link to a URL finder such as for example: https://igeturl.com/ Click on "Get!" Copy and add the URL (the blue one) to the iframe code generator of your choice, such as for example https://embediframegenerator.com/ Click on "Generate" and then on "copy it". 4. Then go to the HTML editor of your forum post by clicking on the "Source" tab (on the left): and there you paste this iframe code: On the desktop version of the forum you can also click on the HTML embed sign to enter / paste the iframe code. Once you've pasted it in the HTML editor you click on the source tab again and you should see a preview of your post: Then click on submit / save or edit. Done! 5. I think the video will be embedded in a HTML 5 player. So if someone still has a browser that only manages HTML 4, he can't see the video and / or get an error message... The full code including the 3 pixel red frame for the video above looks like this: <p> <iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="1" height="400px" marginheight="0px" marginwidth="0px" name="Faye Casanova" scrolling="yes" src="https://twitter.com/i/videos/1229634776291655681?embed_source=facebook" style="border:3px #ff1122 solid;" width="100%"></iframe> </p> The simple code (that also works!!!) looks like this: <iframe height="400px" src="https://twitter.com/i/videos/1229634776291655681?embed_source=facebook" width="320px"></iframe> I know: sounds complicated... ... and cumbersome, but once you've done it a few times it'll take less than a minute to do it... Easy peasy, lemon squeezy... Good luck!
  20. They are offering food delivery service now during the lockdown:
  21. My top three bars are: 1. Stumble Inn: great people watching, great live music, open front, just a great place! 2. Fitzgerald's: great food, great people watching, nice staff (usually) 3. Bully's Pub: great Thai food, great selection of drinks, air conditioned, nice place to hang around for a while
  22. And the winner is... Bully's Pub!!! A Thai video of Soi Nana and Sukhumvit from about 3 weeks ago:
