Makes you wonder just how many new houses built back in Issan were paid for by women who squirted razor blades out of their coozies.

Long gone. These freak shows were actually more common in a handful of bars in Phuket/Patong Beach.  Curiosity got the better of me and I took in a show in Phuket. Ping pong balls, razor blades, and 50 yards of yarn emerged from pussies you would never want to explore. Other pussies smoked cigarettes and tried (and failed) to blow smoke rings, and fired ping pong balls and darts at targets. Weird? Yes. But also surprisingly boring.

The LAX-BKK itinerary that cost me US$896 a year ago now goes for $1659. I cashed in some FF miles rather than pay that. My usual flight to Rio, typically about $869, is now $1880.
    Sucks.

A new hotel on Sukhumvit Soi 11, the place looks quite nice. They opened this month, and have some great deals for people coming in the next month or two.
BTW, in response to an email query, they indicate that they are guest-friendly, asking only that guests leave ID at the front desk.

Agree 100%. Large executive rooms. Weak breakfast.

I've stayed at Citrus Suites Soi 6 the last few times in BKK. Aside from a mediocre breakfast buffet, it has a lot going for it. Location is hard to beat.

If you show up at night with fewer than two ladyboys, they might suggest you find another hotel.
Not that you asked, but few of us stay at the Nana Hotel, because it's a bit of a dump.

Fair question, and gets asked a lot.
How far will I have to walk back at the end of the night?
I always recommend to watch this Youtuber's vids. on the Sukhumvit sois . You can see the real distance you'll have to walk from Sukhumvit to your hotel in real life.

That's consistent with my experience. All the hotels I looked into required direct contact with the hotel for ASQ bookings. The hotels had information about the ASQ bookings on their own websites but required that I book the reservation via email with their reservation service rather than through their online systems. It seems that Agoda and other booking services cannot provide the documentation required to complete the Thailand Pass application process.

I am pretty sure if you have no proof of vaccination then you need to do mandatory 10 days (?) in a designated SHA  hotel with their testing requirements.
Get yourself vaccinated is the best advice.

After lots of fucking about I settled on a 2000 baht test at Dr Donna Robinson's clinic. I called to make an appointment but was told to do it online, medconsultbangkok.com
The online booking system won't accept bookings within 24 hrs so I called back. No problem just turn up as a walk in, pretty sure I've read they are doing appointment only but I'm up for trying.
If you do the test before 10am it is results that evening, between 8 & 10 pm
15 mins walk from Phrom Phong BTS and I'm there at 08:40. Bit busy and manic as  a couple of large families are just in front of me but as I'm a walk in there's an online application to make. After that join queue to pay and although it clearly says cards and electronic payments only they are definitely taking cash. By  the time I've paid I'm straight in to get one swab up one nostril and it is done.
So out of there in 20 mins and negative result, which is a good result, in my inbox at 17:15
No fucking about and no extra charge for fit to fly paperwork shit.
    Highly recommended.

I made a test and go reservation at Novatel BKK airport hotel for upcoming December trip. Novotel is 5 minutes from the airport. The reservation process itself was just like any other hotel reservation - just make sure you select the "Wellness" package per below. It costs 4900 baht and the breakfast buffet option is another 500 baht. They didn't ask for passport info or anything else except airline arrival time for their shuttle service. They told me they have testing available 24 hours a day and will have results 6 hours later. Because I am arriving near midnight, I will be getting the test and hopefully will have the results when I wake up the next morning. If there are any hitches or hassles, I will be reporting them here.

Phuket's LB scene is small (and smaller than it once was); the scene in Koh Samui is minuscule. Samui is a lovely place for some R&R but a lousy place for chasing LBs, IMHO.
That said, both Phuket and Samui are lovely places to hang out on relatively uncrowded and unpolluted beaches (unlike Pattaya), so if you want a little time to de-stress and just chill, both are fine options.

If it's your first trip, you probably want to keep the itinerary simple. Maybe 75% Bangkok and 25% Pattaya. Or the opposite. Up to you. There is loads to see and do just in Bangkok for a first-timer.
I think most guys here go directly to Bangkok from BKK airport and make their jaunts elsewhere later in  the trip. On most trips I spend a month.  It's usually 2 weeks in Bangkok, then 1 week in Pattaya, then back to BKK for another week. Sometimes I go with my girlfriend to visit her family in Lampang for a few days. Other times we go to Hua Hin or Chiang Mai instead, but I always stay "headquartered" in Bangkok.
No need to mess with U-Tapao because BKK or DMK airports are only about 2 hours from Pattaya and you can fly anywhere from there with many more schedule options.
I don't care for Phuket and the LB scene is fairly minimal there anyway. I have never been to Samui, maybe others can help you.

Big Dogs.... great for an early drink and watching the parade enter The Plaza on their way to work
Bullys.... love the food there, though missed the succulent lamb chops after they were taken off the menu. Pub grub dose what it says on the tin
(Barry) Fitzgerald’s formerly Hanrahans.... Like fact you can build your own breakfast there and they do a mean bacon butty as well. Plus it’s good to chill outside having a cigarette & a coffee
