ARI23 got a reaction from ssmurry in Advanced Membership
Taaseesanuk and ssmurry : all true. The Bangkok public forum is everything you need as a newbie, it helped me a lot 2 or 3 years ago.
Advanced section in the Pattaya forum is fantastic - not now obviously - , you should try to advance there ssmurry.
By the way, HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY ! Wish you many lbs and the best.

ARI23 reacted to ssmurry in Advanced Membership
Lol the advanced section isn't some nirvana with contact details of LBs willing to give out free fucks or private hi-res photos of LB ass-cracks.
Trust me when I say that you can have a perfectly good time in Thailand with the large amount of information available in the public forum. Half the stuff in advanced is discussion on how the forum is run with barely over a dozen new topics in the last year. I'm honestly surprised whenever I see a new post in advanced- and normally it's a "has anyone heard from X user?"
Maybe the advanced section in the Pattaya sister forum has more activity (I'm not advanced there and rarely visit) but it certainly hasn't been busy here even before the covid situation. Most, if not all, of us make an effort to post publicly so don't worry you're not missing out on anything worthwhile. At this point it's more a (meaningless) label than any particular improvement on the forum experience. I certainly haven't noticed a change if that matters.

ARI23 got a reaction from Thanks in Adelphi Grande Sukhumvit 41
Hi Dan,
No trouble, I have forgotten myself about this post ... Yes Adelphi Grande is too far from the action for me and I like to be at the same time in the heart of the action and in a quiet place : few cars (soi 8 has a dead end), some nice bars and restaurants (Viva, In Vite, Det 5, Monsoon, ...), massage salons, tailors, street food ...
I am not sure about the payment upfront. Maybe just ask.
All this is so theoric right now ...

Long time since I lived in Osaka. But can still hold a conversation in basic Japanese.
To bring it back on topic the nightclub between Soi’s 13 & 15 is this the one Jonny from former ladyboy bar Paradise Club involved with a couple of years back ?

Useful review ARI23 and others. I'm always on the outlook for a good hotel near Nana that is also good value. This sounds perfect.

ARI23 reacted to Thanks in Indian Food Restaurant
Yeah, in your pic it says Today @ Soi 8...
But I believe it's mainly changed its name from Today @ Soi 8 to Food & Coffee... Perhaps this had something to do with the alcohol ban a few weeks ago...
A coffee shop that only sells alcohol - T.i.T. ...
Now (pics from late June/ early July) it says Food & Coffee... Perhaps India Today was replaced last year by Today @ Soi 8 which itself was replaced by F&C?
Because this picture from inside Today @ Soi 8 from earlier this year
looks very much like F&C...
Linked public pics from the apparent owner or manager.

If I were in CM I would most certainly be there right now...

Looks like a great place to be for a night out in Chiang Mai!

If anyone is wandering around Chiang Mai looking for spicy salad check it out. I doubt it will be there long as they go back to work in the cabarets soon.

ARI23 reacted to oliver17 in Hyatt Regency Sukhumvit 13 Bangkok
I remember this guy wrote a trip report and detailed a stay there. Scroll down to post #25 for the Hyatt. He doesn't say if he took a girl there, however. If this Hyatt is like the Erawan Grand Hyatt it will be LB friendly but not exactly welcoming. At the Erawan GH, they made it pretty clear they frowned on LBs being in the front lobby or around the reception desk. They make girls go downstairs to a security desk to hand over their IDs and register themselves. One girl I took there was very reluctant to visit any of their restaurants or bars because of that experience. That said, the staff treated her respectfully and they never said anything to me about having ladyboys visit my room. It was LB friendly, but without a smiley face.
Per your own plan, I definitely would contact them in advance and inquire about their guest policies and specifically mention the guest would be a ladyboy. Chances are, with the hospitality industry currently in economic ruin, they won't be too picky about who stays there these days LOL.

ARI23 reacted to Thanks in Thai Style Nightlife Areas in Bangkok: Cocowalk, Udom Suk and Srinakarin
Searching for "ladyboy bar" in Bangkok I keep getting results for a place on Phetkasem 47, between Bang Wa and Bang Khae, on the western outskirts of Krung Thep, close to MRT station Lak Song. Google Plus Code:
PC66+7H Bangkok, Thailand
Looks like a restaurant to me... but with mostly ladyboys:

Is this some kind of ladyboy restaurant or ladyboy meeting point?

ARI23 reacted to Thanks in Artbox Sukhumvit Soi 10 Chuvit Garden (CIB)
That didn't last long according to Stickman:
"The fun had resumed at Art Box next to Sukhumvit soi 12 and the crowds were back. It felt just like pre-Covid19 with vendors doing a good trade selling food and drinks. The party was back!
But then some jealous sod complained to the police and that was the end of alcohol being sold – and the end of the fun and revelry – at Art Box for the time being."

ARI23 reacted to KendoUK in Artbox Sukhumvit Soi 10 Chuvit Garden (CIB)
The other thing I noted from Sticks column was he talked about Scala Cinema near Siam Square closing,
I was sad to see it go but it was inevitable. I went to see films there a few times, it really had the feel of going to the UK Cinema in the 80s. No computer system for ticketing, they'd just cross off the seats on a sheet of paper. Popcorn for 40B and older style seating. Luckily Bangkok has about 684 soulless multiplexes to choose from instead.

ARI23 reacted to ssmurry in BTS Skytrain Bangkok
What's equally as amusing is that they still enforce/follow the social distancing for seating- so you can't sit next to each other but standing in crammed as shown is fine.
Unfortunately I can't see a feasible solution to this during peak time- there'd be lines onto the street if they enforced passenger limits and they barely have enough trains running as it is so they won't be increasing the number of services.
Thankfully the number of (detected) cases has been single digits/zero for the past 1-2 weeks, and with wearing a mask necessary to ride the BTS/MRT and well over 90% of people wearing masks everywhere else, I would say it's not as big a concern compared to other countries with similar crowding issues.

ARI23 reacted to Thanks in Air Travel during the New Normal
Will this be how economy class will look like after Corona?

ARI23 reacted to hkaus72 in Air Travel during the New Normal
Agree on all of the above, the realisation is setting in that this will not return to "normal", any time soon. I have a trip to Bohol, pushed back to November and right now, I'm not confident that will actually go ahead, or even whether the hotel will still be open. I'm supposed to be going back to Australia for Christmas, but if I have to do two weeks in quarantine, then forget it. Lord knows if it would be a good idea to be around my mid-70's parents anyway.
Right now, I'm really missing those long-weekend jaunts down to BKK, that I could do at the drop of a hat. That's out the window now, for a very long time.

ARI23 reacted to ssmurry in Air Travel during the New Normal
A lot of valid concerns there, I suspect the way we travel will change for the foreseeable future- at the very least for the next 1-2 years while a vaccine is being developed and then distributed. Medical/fit-to-fly certificates being the first barrier before even getting onto the plane, and yeah all the measures you've mentioned being implemented in one way or another. Think each country/airline will probably have their own requirements/procedures.
Can't see it being very cheap to fly either- IIRC low oil prices in the past have had little effect on ticket prices anyway.
-
ARI23 reacted to Thanks in Air Travel during the New Normal
I'm wondering how Covid-19 will change the way we travel to Bangkok?
Will we all be wearing face masks for the duration of the flight on board in the future?
How will the flight attendants' uniforms look like?
Scoot
Eva Air
Philippines Airlines
Emirates
Sri Lankan I think
Will pax also have to wear in-flight protective gear?
Will there be one aisle for going to the lavatory and another one for returning to the seat?
Instead of a welcome Champagne, will we get some sanitizer bottles?
MAS
Will the cleaning of the aircraft take much longer than before Corona and will therefore the aircraft turnaround time be a lot higher?
Will we be greeted with an infrared thermometer gun when we board the plane?
Will the middle seats be blocked or even removed in all cabin classes?
Will airline food still be available? Only if it's prepackaged?
How much will a ticket cost in the future? More than before Corona? Or less because of the low oil / fuel prices?

ARI23 reacted to Sebastien in ❎ Poll ➡️ What are Your Favorite Pubs, Bars and Restaurants on Soi 4 Nana? ❌
Oh man, I missed this thread. Will have to check out Bully's.
1. Krua Khun Puk on Soi 11/1 - Very good cheap Thai food, nice atmosphere, lots of Thai girls and LB's go to eat here.
2. Balcony Bar, 2nd floor of Nana Plaza - Decent prized and nice view of NEP show
3. Hooters on Soi 4 - Watching the spectacle, and the wings
Honourable mentions for Hillary 2 for after hours partying and picking up FL's, and the bar out Tilac on Soi Cowboy for people watching.

Stumble Inn my all time favourite. I visit here every time I visit Bangers. You cannot beat this view at night, with all the street food vendors in full swing. Great people watching, especially all the working girls/lbs stopping off to grab something to eat.

If I were a resident, I would consider it my local, and I hope to hell that I can make it back there, if for nothing else than eating my at least 500th stick of meat from that lady vendor in the first pic. Let's plan on giving her big tips when she returns.
SI often has good classic rock live.

ARI23 reacted to Desertsandman in Dynasty Inn, Sukhumvit Soi4
ARI23 you gave a very fair review of the Dynasty Inn. I usually stay there when I visit Bangkok and I fully agree with your review. I also request a non-smoking room at the back and I very rarely hear any noise from outside. Another good point about staying at the Dynasty Inn is that they operate a daily transport to their sister hotel in Pattaya. The deal used to be that if you stayed at the Dynasty Inn for at least 3 nights then the transport to Pattaya was only 500 Baht, but the last time that I stayed there the transport was free. The electronic safe is fine for storing valuables but is not big enough to take a laptop. There is also an in-house hair dresser on the mezzanine level, that I once saw a ladyboy working there. I have stayed at this hotel about 5 times and I have no complaints.

Dynasty Inn,
5 4 Sukhumvit Road Soi 4 Nanatai Klongtoey, Bangkok, Thailand, Bangkok 10110
I was at the Dynasty Inn hotel 3 nights at the beginning of August 2019.
I didn't find any review about this hotel which seems little discussed in this forum, contrary to the Dynasty Grande.
Why you (and I) would choose this unassuming little hotel (around 60 rooms)? To be in the heart of the action. At your right, count 60 meters to Nana Plaza via Hillary 4 and the Stumble Inn. If you take on your left, Hillary 2 is at 30 meters.
The reviews are good (8.3 on Booking) and this hotel is of course guest-friendly.
I asked for a non-smoking room at the back of the hotel (quiet rooms). 1 680 baht a night for 2 people. I didn't take the breakfast.
At the entrance of the hotel, the front bar gives you a look at the scene. Very useful to give a rendez-vous to a lb, take a drink and evaluate the chemistry. At night a few ladyboys stand on the sidewalk.
Food from the restaurant is known to be good. I didn't test it.
At the front desk, the hotel staff is friendly and helpful. It's a big plus. The people make the place. No walk of shame. Your guest will let its ID at the reception.
At the check-in they ask for a 500 baht cash deposit for the key.
The back annexe seems to face the rear of Nana Plaza but in the room there is no noise of music or whatever.
The room is quite new, clean and large. 26 square meters.
Aircon works well, a bit noisy. Comfortable big bed, safe (laptop friendly), fridge, ... Fast wifi.
Complimentary water, coffee.
Bathroom is modern and clean with a hand hose.
All lbs of Nana Plaza know the hotel and will be happy to make the short walk for a session. So no short-time room to pay.
All in all I was positively surprised by the quality of this 3 star hotel, clean nice room, friendly staff, located in the heart of the action. I was pleased all the time I spent in that room, feeling well.
Recommend strongly.
Note: Dynasty Grande, on Soi 6, belongs to the same owner and has pool and gym. Around 300/350 baht more expensive by night. Same kind of rooms. Better lobby, front desk not so friendly.
Pictures :
- the entrance of the hotel from soi 4, see the bar.
- The room with the bed, flat tv, safe. The bathroom. The mirror (ladyboy not included in the package).
