Just a few pics from my room at Phachara Suites:

This place is ladyboy/guest friendly (although I never took a ggirl to the room).

It is only a short walk from NEP, CIB, Guess and all the action on Soi4. Plus Darkside is just a short ride on BTS Nana. At the end of soi6 there is a white foot bridge that basically lands you right near CIB. There is a pool and a gym too. Opposite the hotel are 3 atms and a 7/11.

I took two ladyboys to the pool with a bottle of wine and it was no problem.

The room had an ironing board, iron, washing machine (with powder), balcony with table (for any lb smokers), and some maidens to dry clothes on on the balcony. For me this was very useful as although I just normally used the laundry service, it meant I could wash and dry everything the day before I checked out.

There is a decent sized safe that fitted my laptop. Whenever I bought a ladyboy back they always did the system of confiscation of guest ID and then call you to check everything is ok before they leave.

If you turn into Cheap Charlies off Soi 11 there are a group of restaraunts. Aprilbr, and a tranny we met went there before heading to Darkside one night. It's pretty good mexican fare. Not as good as you can get in the Southwest US, or Mexico, but much better than we can get in Australia. I got the tacos which were better than Taco Sunrises in my opinion. The service was good and the decor was better than Taco Sunrise. Anita the tranny thought it was better than she expected. She is from the States (Texas) so she is used to great Tex Mex fare. Sorry I didn't get more photos.

@mind is out on Soi 84 but it's only a year old and a few minutes walk to On Nut BTS and nine minutes on the BtTS to Nana. Going back in the early hours it's less than a hundred baht.

Never have anyone in that area bother me as no hawkers or p4p in that area. There is a night market that does good food and beer, a Tesco Lotus with a food hall and the usual Starbucks and macydees brrrrgh.

I went there feeling pretty hungry after a big night prior . I am a bit fond of club sandwiches and going by the size of meals i had at others places , i ordered 2 x club sandwiches . The waitress enquired if i had a friend coming , for which i replied no. Well she got a funny look on her face and became a little awkward . She said " you sure sir" . Yes i replied . Well i could hear bit of giggling and babble in thai and didnt really think anything of it.Well out came two huge plates of chips and salad and large sandwiches on both, other staff came out just to see my reaction . They all started laughing at the surprised reaction on my face i guess , along with some farang adjacent .
My pride was telling me , you gotta eat all this now 555 . I couldnt go close , just tried to eat enough to thin it out on both plates.
I could hardly walk i was that bloated as made my way back up soi 11 to sukhumvit .

    P.s food was good

Recently my Condo was being worked on and I needed a place to stay for the night. I found this cheap guesthouse.

    PROS

    - Very close to Asoke. Right on the corner of Sukhumvit 18
    - Cheap, no credit card required to check in, cash only
    - Girl Friendly
    - Awesome rainfall style shower
    - Plenty of food/shopping within walking distance
    - Soi Cowboy within walking distance

    CONS

    - Bed was two twins pushed together and neither was comfortable.
    - Can be very noisy during the day time
    - Rooms are on the small side
    - Wifi was very unreliable, lots of disconnects
    - No tea/coffee or minibar in the room just an empty refrigerator.
    - No room service or onsite restaurant.

It was an okay for a one night stay but not something I would recommend long term. If you want to be close to all the action for not a lot of money this is a decent place for the price but there are better places with more amenities.

Tee is good in the sack and also has a good social conversation. She is down to earth, contrary to others who may have a diva attitude. She has no bad attitude whatsoever. She is very nice a speaks a very good English.

If you do not know her, be prepared to meet somebody towering 1m80+ (more than 6ft). She cut her hair some 6 months ago, sporting a sherry hairstyle now.

I have been staying in Bangkok for the past month but have not had much time to get on here because the wife is with me. My first week however I was alone and had a little bit of fun. I stayed at Pinnacle Lumpini the first week.

    PROS

    - Can always find great deals for 50% off or more for this hotel.
    - Very close to MRT Lumpini - about 150 m away
    - Very friendly staff
    - Only one stop from Patpong
    - Across the street from Lumpini park
    - Good buffet breakfast every morning
    - Decent room service
    - Free bottled water everyday

    CONS

    - Joiner fee after 11pm (565 baht)*
    - Wifi performance was up and down
    - Although it is close to Silom there isn't a whole lot close to the hotel, need to go to Silom for food
    - Lack of TV channels/bad TV reception

While they do say they charge a joiner fee the one night I brought a gurl back no one said anything to me. I noticed while at the hotel it is very big with the gay crowd, lots of gay couples there so no one really looked twice when I was with a LB. I got a really good deal to stay there otherwise I would have never thinked twice about it. Overall it is not a bad hotel just not my first choice for being close to Patpong.

We all share a common number one reason for going to Thailand, but the delectable LB delicacies aside, I find Thai to be among the most delicious cuisine in the world. It is up there among my strongest excuses for going to Thailand and remaining in Bangkok. However, it is a legitimate reason, and I am wondering what the favorite Thai dishes are of the BMs, and where they like to eat, particularly around Sukhumvit and Nana.

    Daytime?

    Late night?

Street food is often the cheapest and the the best. In my time around Sukhumvit, I have found the food arcade that sets up around Soi 1 offers a variety of decent food at good prices. I am sure there are better spots, let's hear about them!

Not sure what these raamen-like soups were, but they were awesome.

    My favorite Thai dishes:

    1. Pad See-Ew (phat si io)

    2. Khao Pad Goong... or any Khao Pad

    3. Curries

    4. Tom Yum

    5. Lad na

    6. Who doesn't enjoy a good Pad Thai?

    7. Should I try papaya salad?

The nice thing about meeting gurls is that they are hungry esp after boom boom! and they usually know good places to go to replenish their energy! On my last trip, I hooked up with a LB from Isaan and we went to eat at a place she liked, with good Isaan food.

Does anyone remember Ploy from the old GB? Aside from eating each other's goodies, we ate out a couple times at a spot she liked off the beaten path... I want to say it was up around the soi 20's or 30's but a ways off of Sukhumvit definitely on the even number side...

Don't remember what the food was she liked, but it was spicy!

So, lets try to give my first review

Located at the head Sukhumvit Soi 10, next to Chuwit Park and TheLollipop1.
A nice and clean hotel, with a small, friendly staff.

Some people found the standard rooms a little small, so I took the Deluxe room.
Control panel next to your bed for light, airco, time etc. Very handy.
Rooms are clean, a big bathroom comparing to the bedroom.
Bath/shower and toilet are diveded by a glass door, so you don't have to wear your boots when you come out of the shower.

    Front

    Room

    Bathroom

Breakfast is very limited (3 choiches), you have to buy that seperate when you're checking in.

Guestfriendly: didn't take anybody up there, but I think so.

Rooms and prices (according to their site)
    Standard - 1500 Bht
    Superior - 1700 Bht
    Deluxe - 1900 Bht
    Suite - 2500 Bht

I met a gurl at a clothing store on Sukhumvit my last trip I mentioned her in my last trip report how I walked into someone when I turned my head back to check her out after I walked by her. She laughed at me which broke the ice.In my June trip I saw her working in the same shop. She actually remembered me. So I asked her if she wanted to join me for drinks after she got off. It went well so we went out again the next night. She was getting off much earlier at 7 P.M. which gave us enough time to take in the Early Bird Show at Club Daeng Cabaret. It's the same deal 888 baht each and all you can drink Beer, Whiskey, Wine or Soft Drinks. She loved the show. I thought it was a bit shorter than the first tiem I went back in December.

Some different gurls out front than I remember from the last visit.

Performers out front trying to rustle customers in for the first show.

Two of the performers who came out to socialize with us.

Femboi Poi and the gurls and me.

We were the only customers so the show was for us.

I had to do a visa run to Lao last week so thought I'd check out the VIP bus option from Bangkok described by mardhi.

I sat in the downstairs compartment which only houses 6 passengers, had a solo seat. Not only do they have a serious recline but they have buttons you press to give you a massage as well!

We left Mo Chit at 20:30 and arrived in Mukdahan at about 06:45, I think we only stopped in Korat which was about 3 hours into the journey. The roads were very quiet, especially with the midnight curfew still in effect as well.

Had a great feed at the 5th avenue food court (5th floor mbk) today . Whilst there are many different types of food to be had there , i chose spanish meatballs with this delicious lightly toasted bread to mop up the sauce . Very yummy and reasonably priced . They issue you a card on entry that you use at any of the micro restaurants inside . You then pay at a check out on leaving . Highly recomend anyone trying it if in Mbk shopping centre

Here is a good primer for using advanced codes with Matrix that allow you to plan routes using specific airlines or routing thru LAX or NRT or wherever:

    http://hackmytrip.com/2012/09/using-routing-language-with-ita-fare-matrix/

You can't book trips with Matrix. Instead, you print up your itenarary and either give it to a travel agent or call the airline directly. There is no way for the consumer to input the all the codes into airline websites. I use Matrix for my flights, and it has always been my experience that giving the codes to a TA is easier than trying to book codes directly with the airlines. The airlines act as if you are pulling their teeth out when you read out all those booking codes to them over the phone. TA's are happy to do it for you because you have already done all the legwork for them.

I will never get better but can try to stay on same level, there are 2 levels of HBV Acute which is curable and Chronic which is with you for life, I am chronic, probably went bareback one too many times, cest la vive.

The irony is since I was diagnosed and modified my lifestyle I am feeling a whole lot better than I ever did before and having frequent medical check ups. A bit of a scare last week my CEA Carcinembryonic Antigen count was high, a tell tale sign of cancer, I just paid the £500 had a camera shoved down my throat and up my arse, I was clear but I do have a copy of the camera going up my ass on my iPad great ice breaker haha.

I am probably healthier than most other people my age, I know what I have and live life accordingly, I know that I am high risk of cancer and my Doctor tells me stop drinking and smoking and I tell him no, I moderate, people who don't Drink, Smoke and screw around don't live longer it just feels as if they do.

I know that my liver is in good health because I have an annual ultrasound, I know I am cancer free because I have had a freaking endoscope up my butt and down my throat, For Fucks sake I am over 50 years old and still playing football (soccer to my USA Cousins) perfect cholesterol levels, perfect Blood Pressure, perfect BMI etc something I get checked every 6 months, and I completed my last marathon in 3:18 still life in the old dog yet.

Brings me back to threads about "Retire in Thailand" hell yes top notch health care but it costs money, my insurance does not cover my check ups since it is a pre existing condition, I don't care, I only have one life and I want to go out disgracefully I am working on it.

there is also a small shop in the back area where you can buy Korean groceries.

another good spot, a bit more upscale and with private rooms, would be the one in Pathumwan Princess Hotel (adjacent to MBK) Kongju .

i spent 10 days in Seoul a few years back and i developed a real appetite for Korean Cuisine. IMO it ranks along side of JP and TH for freshness and flavors.
