Round trip in the North/NorthEast - any ideas?

Actually i have no idea about that - maybe other BMs have some knowledge about where to find LB up north/Isaan? My main purpose to go there is not to find LB (actually that is not a purpose at all). I want to go to the North and the cities mentioned to see a bit more of Thailand than i have seen before and growing old i dont know if i will get another chance... Anyway the LBs will wait for me in Bangkok and Pattaya
  2. Been to LOS for Buddha knows how many times but i have never done a round trip to the north and north of north east (have been to Isaan several times but only the Roi Et district, Yasothon and Mukdahan) and travelled by bus a lot af times – and in the back of a pick-up a few – can not be reccomended... This time i am thinking about spending some of my stay travelling around by bus and/or train, and i would like to go from Bangkok and visit Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Nong Khai, Udon (Thani) Sakhon Nakon, Khon Kaen,, Roi Et (the city itself) and then back to Bangkok and possible to Pattaya) Anyone here have tried to do such a roundtrip – and if so any ideas of how to do it (train or bus)? Have read that you can buy a Visit Thailand Railpass valid for 20 days and valid for any train but is it worth the 1500 Baht – beeing told that trains are going at a very slow speed – or is it better to go by bus? I prefer to travel during daytime so i am able to watch the landscape.

long distance bus travel in Thailand

Done that trip as well. Piece of cake. Only a short wait at the border, crossing the bridge to Savannakhet (misspelled i know) and about ½ an hour cueing at the thai embassy. Fcuk everything is so much cheaper in Lao... Funny thing was that my thai sim was still working as it could catch the signal from Mukdahan just acroos the Mekong river,

TwoThree Mansion suk soi 23 any reviews?

Think I will confirm the booking as i have read only good about it on other boards - and it was confirmed to be GF. Only problem i read about was their WiFi not working properly but that does not scare me - i always buy i 1-2call sim with a datapackage included so if the WiFi sucks i can use the mobile data to connect to the net. After all i am on a holiday and do not need to be on the net 24/7 i only use it when i need to and i do not use Twitter or Facebook (timewasters Imho).
  7. Have prebooked a stay there in January as it is well located and has a lot of facilities but is it good and GF?

long distance bus travel in Thailand

Have made a trip numerous times from Morchit to the Roi Et area (Suwannaphum and Phanom Phrai) and never experienced a single problem. It was a (approx.) 7 hours drive including a 30 min. stop (same place every time) coupon for a meal included in the price as were soft drinks on the bus. Traffic pretty heavy leaving BKK but after heading North on the highway for about one hour, that being early morning or late night, there were practically no traffic at all. n most occasions i chose the early morning bus and when arriving in the Roi Et District i could enjoy the view of the rice fields - and the silence of no traffic. The bus was more or less alone on the road until we got close to a village where a few cars and a lot of Motobikes could be seen. Would for sure reccomend a trip or two or even more in a long.distance bus. It is cheap and a great experience. Have my bext trip booked for January and have booked but not yet paid all hotels in BKK so i am considering taking a bus to Chiang Mai/Rai or Nonk Khai for a few days.
  9. Have stayed there a number of times and it is for sure value for money (around 750 THB/Night) Located in Ratchada soi 17 overlooking Poseidon and Copacabana MPs. Keycard to your room and very guestfriendly. Stayed there last in March and they were refurbishing all rooms. All rooms with balcony (i prefer the ones facing the soi as i then have the BKK skyline to watch) 24h roomservice and family mart in the building. Only 5 stations to SC (from Sutthisan to Sukhumvit) and if you want to go to Nana it is only 1 stop by BTS or a 10 min walk. Should you prefer a cab its about 60THB to SC and maybe 70 to NEP... Unfortunately i do not have any pics of the rooms - but the link yo their website is :http://www.wattanahotel.com/ Hopefully some BMs will find it useful...

To the mods: As it seems to annoy a lot of BMs when other BMs have moving avatars i would suggest that GIF-files are not allowed as avatars (mean they cannot be uploaded), That should solve the problem once and for all.

Is There a Way to Block an Avatar?

Sorry guys - wasnt aware that it was so annoying. Will change my avatar in a few min. Want all to have a fun time here and not get distracted by a simple avatar. Pikogpatter
  13. Some years ago i stayed in Malyasia hotel soi Ngam Dupli (off Rama IV) as my now former wife (thank you Buddha!!) had to get a visa for Denmark and the Danish Embassy is located in Sathorn Soi 1 - connected to Ngam dupli. Went to the embassy a number of times and often went to Mali Resaturant . At that time they served a awesome breakfast and also had a excellent steak there for very reasonable prices. Does anyone know if it is still as good as it used to be as i am planning to stay a few days at Malaysia in January as it is close to Patpong before i move to the Sukhumvit area for the rest of my stay?

    Asia Hotel

Thanks for the review! Checked their website and i would say it seems to be quite good but a bit off the beaten track, As you were booked there by your company you really didnt have a choice but i would prefer Grand President in soi 11 or The Dawin in soi 4 both excellent (imho) much better located and for a better price.
