sydney69er got a reaction from mikel in Little Tokyo in Bangkok - Soi Thaniya Great Japanese food
When I was in Bangkok back in July, I visited Soi Thaniya in Silom, which is only 300 meters down from Patpong Road. Amazing how many times I had been to Patpong but didn't know about this place they refer to as 'Little Tokyo' or 'Little Japan' due to the entire street being lined with awesome Japanese restaurants, from Japanese BBQ, sushi, ramen shops and plenty of others. An entrance to BTS SkyTrain Sala Daeng station is just on the corner of Soi Thaniya.
I just visited during the day for lunch but heard it is lit up like the streets of Tokyo at night. I just had a ramen noodle soup at a restaurant called Uchidaya Ramen. 270 baht for their Kyushu Tonkotsu 'Special' ramen. Best ramen I have ever eaten!
If you love Japanese food then put this on your list of places to visit in Bangkok. Go there for dinner, then head down to Patpong to pick up your dessert.
They do have some girlie bars here, located in the top floors above the restaurants at street level. I heard they are very much like the 'hostess bars in Tokyo'. These places cater to Japanese business men. I heard like in Japan, they pay a fee for a girl to sit with them and laugh at their jokes, tell them how wonderful they are and pour their drinks. I been to a few hostess bars in Tokyo and never saw the point of them as you can't bar fine the girls there in Tokyo but I believe you can bar fine the ones in Bangkok but at ridiculous Japanese prices, something like 5000 - 6000 Baht. Screw that! Get down to Patpong to pick up what you fancy for the night, GG or LB at proper Bangkok prices.
Definitely worth a visit if you love Japanese food.

Here in Los Angeles, California in the US where I reside they started offering the vaccine to these groups below
Monkeypox vaccine is now available to the following high-risk groups:
Gay or bisexual men and transgender people who had: Multiple or anonymous sex partners in the last 14 days OR (NEW) Skin-to-skin or intimate contact (e.g., kissing, hugging) with persons at large venues or events in the past 14 days. (NEW) Persons of any gender or sexual orientation who engaged in commercial and/or transactional sex in the past 14 days (e.g., sex in exchange for money, shelter, food, and other goods or needs) I am/was past 14 days since I had any direct skin contact with anyone, but given I'm a single guy who's always on the hunt I took the opportunity to get the vaccine especially since I plan to be doing some "high risk" by their standards activity soon lol. I've now gotten my first shot a week ago from today. My arm still is itching, the injection site is a little red, and has a bit of a bump. Now just got to get my 2nd shot 3 weeks from today. I'd rather deal with those vaccine side effects than catch this though. I'd advise anyone else that's here in LA to get it while you can too especially if you like me are hoping to be frolicking with lots of lb and gg between now and the end of 2022.

Yes I stayed at Hyatt Regency Sukhumvit in July. Had stayed there back in 2019 as well.
I highly recommend it. Everything you need within a few blocks. It is on the corner of Soi 13 and less than 100 meters walk to Soi 11 and Nana BTS station just after that. Heaps of restaurants, beer bars and ofcourse Check In Bar only 280 meters walk away or short stumble back. There is an overpass over Sukhumvit which takes you straight into Hyatt Regency Level 1 but you have to go back down to Lobby to get up to the rooms.
I spent 7 nights there and did not venture more than 280 meters away  well i did get down to Nana Entertainment area too which is only 6 minutes walk.
No dramas bringing guests back to your room. No questions asked.
Buffet breakfast was very busy when i was there but still could get a table each morning. Big thumbs up for the swimming pool on level 6.
The rooftop bar Spectrum Lounge is pretty cool for expensive drinks and great view. I visited there in 2019 but not in 2022.

I have been eating here for quite a few years now and was a bit gutted that they have stopped the Lamb Chops. But the Pork Chops more than made up for it.

Other dishes i have had here include the Rack of Ribs, the Bully's Burger and the Steak

All the whores left Canada. Like all good Canadians they now infect, I mean live in the lower 48. They are proud of their heritage though. Always go on and on about how great Canada is. But when I ask “if it’s so great, why don’t you still live there”, I get that 5 mile stare. And they start speaking French.

Stayed one night in Sept 2019. Drove up late morning (try and get a lb out the door early!) and had an uneventful and pretty easy run. Booked through Agoda for a little over $100aud. Room was a deluxe 32sqm and had everything you need except a view. Our balcony faced a wall so natural light wasn't great. Bathroom was good - plenty of constant hot water & - a rarity on this trip - the bed was not as hard as concrete.
There's a pool but we didn't use it.
We headed out soon after arrival and spent the afternoon wandering the temples. Had dinner at an open air market by the river.
Breakfast was standard fare and ok but nothing special. Did its' job. (Hotel pics from internet ).
Overall a perfectly ok overnight stop. If you need an 'I go for the culture' story for the cynics back home I'd recommend a short side trip to Ayutthaya. The temples etc are worth seeing  - it wasn't crowded - and it's beautifully kept.

sydney69er got a reaction from Nick Bullseye in Hyatt Regency Sukhumvit 13 Bangkok
I stayed at that Hyatt Regency in October last year. Very nice hotel! Check out the Spectrum Rooftop bar on the top floors. Very nice.
i was only there for 1 night and did not bring any guests in but I have stayed at the Grand Hyatt hotel many times and never had problems with bringing guests in (both GG and LB). During the days no problems, just up the elevators and to the room. At night time there were security at the elevators asking you to check your guest in at the front desk before you go to your room. This is best for you own security.
Being part of the Hyatt group (and same with most 5 star hotels in Bangkok), i would say it would be same policy at the Hyatt Regency.
There is a door into the Hyatt Regency straight off Sukhumvit Road and there is always a doorman who opens that door (day and night), so I am sure if you bring a guest, he would ask you to check them in. The main entrance is to the side where a taxi would drop you off and you walk straight past the reception desks so unless they super busy I'm sure they may ask you to check your guest in.
There are a few freelancers (both girls and ladyboys) that hang out on Sukhumvit right out the front of the Hyatt Regency. I checked them out but a bit rough for my liking.

If I were a resident, I would consider it my local, and I hope to hell that I can make it back there, if for nothing else than eating my at least 500th stick of meat from that lady vendor in the first pic.  Let's plan on giving her big tips when she returns.

    My top three bars are:
    1. Stumble Inn: great people watching, great live music, open front, just a great place!
    2. Fitzgerald's: great food, great people watching, nice staff (usually)
    3. Bully's Pub: great Thai food, great selection of drinks, air conditioned, nice place to hang around for a while

    Dynasty Inn,
5 4 Sukhumvit Road Soi 4 Nanatai Klongtoey, Bangkok, Thailand, Bangkok 10110
I was at the Dynasty Inn hotel 3 nights at the beginning of August 2019.
I didn't find any review about this hotel which seems little discussed in this forum, contrary to the Dynasty Grande.
Why you (and I) would choose this unassuming little hotel (around 60 rooms)? To be in the heart of the action. At your right, count 60 meters to Nana Plaza via Hillary 4 and the Stumble Inn. If you take on your left, Hillary 2 is at 30 meters.
The reviews are good (8.3 on Booking) and this hotel is of course guest-friendly.
I asked for a non-smoking room at the back of the hotel (quiet rooms). 1 680 baht a night for 2 people. I didn't take the breakfast.
At the entrance of the hotel, the front bar gives you a look at the scene. Very useful to give a rendez-vous to a lb, take a drink and evaluate the chemistry. At night a few ladyboys stand on the sidewalk.
Food from the restaurant is known to be good. I didn't test it.
At the front desk, the hotel staff is friendly and helpful. It's a big plus. The people make the place. No walk of shame. Your guest will let its ID at the reception.
At the check-in they ask for a 500 baht cash deposit for the key.
The back annexe seems to face the rear of Nana Plaza but in the room there is no noise of music or whatever.
The room is quite new, clean and large. 26 square meters.
Aircon works well, a bit noisy. Comfortable big bed, safe (laptop friendly), fridge, ... Fast wifi.
    Complimentary water, coffee.
Bathroom is modern and clean with a hand hose.
All lbs of Nana Plaza know the hotel and will be happy to make the short walk for a session. So no short-time room to pay.

All in all I was positively surprised by the quality of this 3 star hotel, clean nice room, friendly staff, located in the heart of the action. I was pleased all the time I spent in that room, feeling well.
    Recommend strongly.
Note: Dynasty Grande, on Soi 6, belongs to the same owner and has pool and gym. Around 300/350 baht more expensive by night. Same kind of rooms. Better lobby, front desk not so friendly.
    Pictures :
    - the entrance of the hotel from soi 4, see the bar.
    - The room with the bed, flat tv, safe. The bathroom. The mirror (ladyboy not included in the package).
