North East is really suffering mate....anyway, on a positive front the Germans are back playing and if that goes well we will be close behind!
I presume vanarama have declared the league void? Still find it shocking seeing Notts county, Hartlepool, and Barnet at this level now.
Better times will come back and so will the beautiful game!

Careful with the US- Canada stuff. On the flight home last week I sat next to a Korean guy who asked me where I was from. Told him US. He then proceeded to ask me if I’d ever been to Canada, which I had and told him I actually lived there a while and had been all over the frozen north. He then asked me what I thought about Canada. So being tired and feeling a little snarky, I said “ only two things in Canada - retards and hockey players”. He was visibly upset with my answer and with a menacing glare retorted “ My wife is from Canada”. Gathered myself quickly and said “ oh yeah, what team does she play for?”  

That's really interesting Ropey.
I've spent a bit of time in Isaan and often wondered that if they are so close to their Laos neighbours, speaking the same language, following the same religion etc. then why are they now separate?  I guess it must be similar to the US and Canada relationship?
I wonder how many Thais know that their version of Buddhism is from Sri Lanka? I never knew that, I just assumed it was from India.
Interesting stuff, it is a very complex country once you start digging.

Just wandered if anyone has been brave enough to try the crispy fried crickets?
Late one evening at Why Not Creamy said she was hungry and there was some food she wanted on the cart outside, feeling generous I gave her some money and said 
bring me whatever your having. What she brought back was a plate of critters with some salad bits and crispy pork skin....even in my pissed up state there was no way I was going near that!
Watching her munching on these could of been a passion killer but with her curvy ass anything is forgiven.
 

The 'insect wagon' turns up outside WN and CIB on most nights.
It really sobers you up when you see the femme fatales who have been the objects of your desire all evening munching on all kinds of fried insects late at night.
You can get a mixed assortment for as little as THB 100 and they range from passable, to crunchy to downright gross. I guess a bit like the girls themselves?
I've never seen the ant eggs in BKK, but have had them in Isaan. They're white and taste sour. I guess its an acquired taste!

I know on a similar subject that ants are on the menu in some areas of the North East....the Durian has an awful pungent smell but for me the fermented fish (balaar) that is eaten
with Somtum and other things is just the worst smelling of them all.

Had a wander through on my last trip , tree roots are a bit tricky down the bottom , but cool place , wandered out of checkin bar one evening stood by the fence opposite cozy at ten , and surprised to see a bloke carving a chicken on an old table and his mate stood next too him having a piss against a kiosk , needless too say I didn’t eat there  , but nice atmosphere too the place 

perhaps it is frozen in preparation for your impending upgrade mate!

As I have said before, staying at Nana Hotel, the only shame is walking through the foyer without a Ladyboy or GG on your arm!

The only issue with Terminal 21 restaurants is that they tend to close fairly early...I took a GG there around 10ish and most places were winding down.

I see what you did there. Just keeping it simple. ;-)

I was at the Dynasty Inn hotel 3 nights at the beginning of August 2019.
I didn't find any review about this hotel which seems little discussed in this forum, contrary to the Dynasty Grande.
 Why you (and I) would choose this unassuming little hotel (around 60 rooms)? To be in the heart of the action. At your right, count 60 meters to Nana Plaza via Hillary 4 and the Stumble Inn. If you take on your left, Hillary 2 is at 30 meters.
The reviews are good (8.3 on Booking) and this hotel is of course guest-friendly. 
I asked for a non-smoking room at the back of the hotel (quiet rooms). 1 680 baht a night for 2 people. I didn't take the breakfast.
At the entrance of the hotel, the front bar gives you a look at the scene. Very useful to give a rendez-vous to a lb, take a drink and evaluate the chemistry. At night a few ladyboys stand on the sidewalk.
Food from the restaurant is known to be good. I didn't test it.
At the front desk, the hotel staff is friendly and helpful. It's a big plus. The people make the place. No walk of shame. Your guest will let its ID at the reception.
At the check-in they ask for a 500 baht cash deposit for the key.
The back annexe seems to face the rear of Nana Plaza but in the room there is no noise of music or whatever.
The room is quite new, clean and large. 26 square meters. 
Aircon works well, a bit noisy. Comfortable big bed, safe (laptop friendly), fridge, ... Fast wifi.
Complimentary water, coffee.
Bathroom is modern and clean with a hand hose.
All lbs of Nana Plaza know the hotel and will be happy to make the short walk for a session. So no short-time room to pay.
 
All in all I was positively surprised by the quality of this 3 star hotel, clean nice room, friendly staff, located in the heart of the action. I was pleased all the time I spent in that room, feeling well.
Recommend strongly.
Note: Dynasty Grande, on Soi 6, belongs to the same owner and has pool and gym. Around 300/350 baht more expensive by night. Same kind of rooms. Better lobby, front desk not so friendly.
