I've always gone to Fortune Town. It's opposite Central Rama 9 and can be reached by Rama9 Station on the MRT.

I have never seen anyone carrying or displaying a Nazi flag in this country, much less "plenty of people" marching on the streets doing so. Oh sure, cable "news" networks love taking some tiny and extreme example of American life and depicting as typical, but that's because peddling bullshit sensationalism is their business.
Anybody who does something as dumb as parading around as a Nazi either has his head bashed in by bystanders or ends up publicly identified, and then loses his job, is doxxed etc. It's a very unpleasant existence for Nazi or Confederacy enthusiasts after they out themselves and they deserve it.
In a country of 320,000,000 people, of course there are some clowns who display offensive symbols or say offensive things. They are allowed to do that because of the first amendment of the US Constitution that guarantees freedom of speech. The first amendment also guarantees the right of other people to loudly oppose them, shout them down and that's exactly what happens in the case of Nazis and the like. That's the beauty of the first amendment. Anybody can say anything but nobody has the last word.

I have seen plenty of Thais with vaccine scars myself, and it is surprising to see them because you just don't see those in farang land anymore. I received smallpox vaccine myself when I was a child, but I don't remember if it gave me a scar. If it did it disappeared over time. I distinctly remember seeing them on other kids arms as I grew up.
Seeing a smallpox vaccine scar in Thailand isn't nearly as startling as seeing one of those swastika tattoos. Yes I know the symbol represents the exact opposite in Asian culture than what  the Nazi symbol represents to Westerners, but it still makes me almost gasp every I catch a glimpse of a swastika tattoo on a Thai.

9400 +Dengue cases this year in Thailand.
    9500 road deaths in 2021
About 50 cases of Trichinosis a year
Seems a bit silly to worry about the 4 cases of monkeypox of which 2 were foreign nationals when you accept the risks above.
Context is everything. Only realistic preventure measure is to avoid contact with people who have blisters. I assume that goes without saying.

We stopped vaccinating for smallpox in the west 50 years ago because the disease was erradicated.
Lesser developed countries stopped vaccinating much later than the west.
In Thailand I have seen quite a few younger people with the typical smallpox vaccine scar.
This vaccine works a lifetime and should at least strongly protect against monkeypox.

    Ergo.
    1. If you are older and still got this vaccine, you really should not worry at all.
    2. If (I have no info how many younger people Thailand are innoculated) a decent amount of sexworkers/civilians in Thailand got innoculated, chance of getting infected is very very low when mongering.

As far as I know, Thailand has gotten very few monkeypox cases. Seeing this disease is pretty visible, I don't think there has been a huge underreported outbreak. I read they have 4 cases of which 2 are foreign nationals.

If you come into contact with someone who has obvious blisters, go to the hospital and get vaccinated. The vaccines tend to still have effect when taken after the moment of (possible) infection.

I got dragged into one with my fili lb friend and her doctor and nurse workmates. It was in Patts Walking St. The drinks were a ripoff. The acts bad, and the girls may have been ok 15 years earlier!. Apparently they have plastic pouches shoved in their pussies which have the razor blades inside on a string. Her presto the girl grabs the string and out they come. The only impressive thing on show was how far they could fire the ping pong balls out of their pussies. I dont suspect that they had a device in there which fired the balls out???.

Makes you wonder just how many new houses built back in Issan were paid for by women who squirted razor blades out of their coozies.

Long gone. These freak shows were actually more common in a handful of bars in Phuket/Patong Beach.  Curiosity got the better of me and I took in a show in Phuket. Ping pong balls, razor blades, and 50 yards of yarn emerged from pussies you would never want to explore. Other pussies smoked cigarettes and tried (and failed) to blow smoke rings, and fired ping pong balls and darts at targets. Weird? Yes. But also surprisingly boring.

There are docs in Thailand who give injections. I never get them there myself, because I get 2 large doses in the week before I leave the US and that keeps things going until I return home. I know you can also buy testosterone and syringes from some pharmacies in Thailand, but you don't want to do that because injecting yourself without physician supervision is unwise and dangerous. There was another BM from this board living full time in Thailand who did that. He was giving himself large doses thinking more was better. He passed away suddenly and I wonder if his injecting himself hastened his passing.  Be smart and don't dose yourself.
When you get your first injection, you will feel a jolt that day. A few days after that ,libido, energy etc. return to where they were before and then you get weekly injections. It was a long time ago when I started, but I think it was maybe 3-4 weeks before I felt full effects. Every guy is different, however. Some guys get testosterone pellet injections which last several weeks, but my doctor said weekly injections remain the best treatment.
If you can, you need to start your treatments at home under doctor supervision about 4-6 weeks before your trip. That way, your motor will be humming when you arrive in BKK.
I recommend every guy over the age of 40 or so get testosterone treatments. It changes everything for the better.

    I did it.
Flights booked. Prices keep going up so I did it. If they go down oh well, if they go up then all good.
My current situation means I need flights that take off and land back at Heathrow within certain times so EVA and Thai not really an option.
In the end, Cathay Pacific got my money. Taking off at 11:30 am from Heathrow is good and landing back there at 6 am is also good.

Seems like a lot of folks who have stayed there say there is nothing wrong with it, that it is a low-end property but a clean one. That said, if the idea is to stay in a hotel within shouting distance of Nana Plaza, there are several nicer options on Soi 4 in the same price range like Lohas or Citrus Suites.

Sorry to hear about, and disappointed to hear about the bad experience with Etihad. I looking at flights going the opposite way, from Asia to the UK,and back via BKK.And I'm not exactly spoilt for choice(and ridiculous prices) due to the Ukraine and airspace situation.
Chances are you've already researched it: One  thing that I've found helpful on SkyScanner  is checking prices for one way tickets with different carriers.Used to be that a one way ticket was the same price as a roundtrip ticket. But not any more. Makes for a really flexible schedule, depending on the carrier(s).
I hear what you say about arrival times. Arriving back in the Uk in the evening and having to get home at that time is not only tiring/tiresome but also depressing as hell!
Arriving in BKK early afternoon or anytime in the morning is best for me. I like arriving in the morning because chances are I'm going north to Chiang Rai/Chiang Mai or south to Hua Hin.And can still arrive at my final destination with some of the day remaining.

If you show up at night with fewer than two ladyboys, they might suggest you find another hotel.
Not that you asked, but few of us stay at the Nana Hotel, because it's a bit of a dump.

Yeah it’s very much ladyboy friendly.
They probably wouldn’t even bat an eyelid if someone walked in with a goat  (it is close to the Arab area after all)  it’s been an institution for prostitution for nearly 60 years now.

I have stayed at Legacy Suites before. It's about a 5 minute walk from Asoke station and they are LB friendly.  Rooms at the hotel are similar to what you find at Adelphi suites or Pharchara.  Soi 29 is very quiet with little traffic. The downside of staying on this Soi is the limited number of restaurants in the area. The hotel restaurant is pretty much pub food. There is a traditional Japanese place next door, but it really caters to Japanese only.  It's a 5 or 8 minute  walk to Terminal 21, which will give you some more dining options. There is a fun sports bar at the corner of Suk & Soi 29 that has cover bands and a party vibe. I took a couple of CIB LBs there before heading to the hotel and they both loved it.
Next door to Legacy is the Mermaid Hotel. I have also stayed there. It's very similar to Legacy, the rooms are all suites. They have a great pool that gets plenty of sun, it's better than Legacy's pool. The restaurant at Mermaid is very limited, even the breakfast offerings are lame. Their rates usually run cheaper than Legacy and I think they offer more bang for the buck than Legacy. You might want to give them a look also.

Yes, exactly what Mikel said. The pool isn't the typical rooftop setup. Plenty of seating with lots of nooks and crannies for sitting with LBs. The rooftop restaurant also serves up a killer hamburger that rivals what Firehouse in Bangkok offers. Overall, it's a solid property and as said before it's about a 3 minute walk from CIB.
A couple of downsides: The lobby restaurant tends to get overwhelmed at breakfast. Tables don't always get cleared promptly enough and it causes customers to stand in line for 15 minutes or so waiting minutes to be seated. It's not a fun way to start the day when you have a pounding hangover from the night before and just want something to eat.
I stayed there twice over a 10 month span. Both times the elevator music was nothing but Eric Clapton's "I Shot the Sheriff". As a bonus, they always had the volume turned up way too loud.  I have always hated that song. Hearing it in G10 elevators about eleventy billion times over 2 years was worse than waiting in line for breakfast every day. Way worse.

S15 looks great, might give it a try as well. I do prefer a hotel with a pool. S15 looks promising though with great location. I got a good deal on Agoda at Galleria 10. Deluxe Chill Room, 820 baht/night (maybe its the normal rate?). Only staying 2 nights there though before i go to Pattaya.
