For the late night street food fans amongst you. On the corner of Sukhumvit soi 11 roughly here I think

Ate here two nights running at 2-3am both nights. Spicy seafood noodle salad was great, their fried rice is banging had a seafood and prawn version, pad see ew was top notch as well. But the absolute highlight is watching the small lady with a limp who is clearly the head chef at work. Never in my life have I seen someone cook at such speed, with such skill and produce food of such quality. And all on what, to all intent and purpose, to western eyes is little more than a camp fire. Very few of your michelen star chefs could produce food of this quality under such conditions.
It does get very busy had to take away second night as nowhere to sit.

If I'm in the mood for a simple and quick lunch I like to go to Ippudo for some of their excellent Ramen. There are a number of Ippudo restaurants across town, I like the one on the 5th floor of the Emporium Mall best. The spicy gyoza is fantastic and the Tom Yum Ramen is memorable...  http://www.ippudo.co.th/en/

If you like Spanish food and you like dining with a view than look no further than Uno Mas. It's located on the 54th floor of the Centara Grand hotel at Central World ( BTS station Siam Square). They have a stunning array of tapas and a Spanish wine selection that is more than excellent at very competitive prices. Best is to order 5 or 6 different tapas as the portions are quite generous and forget about the main dishes. I dined here just last week with Shyguyuk, a fellow foodie, and we were both more than impressed   http://www.unomasbangkok.com/

Probably my favourite restaurant in Bangkok is No Idea in Sukhumvit soi 22. It labels itself as a 'gastro pub' but I reckon they're too modest with that description. The place is run by owner Dave, a Kiwi who is a retired 747 captain with Cathay Pacific, and his wife who does the cooking. The atmosphere is very relaxed, the food is outstanding and the selection of wine is one of the best in Bangkok. They have great wines by the glass like Alexana, an excellent Pinot Noir from Oregon, as well as a huge bottle selection of both New World and traditional wines. The cheeseboard here for me is the best in Bangkok, 590b for a selection of 8 different cheeses is truly great value for money.  http://www.noideabkk.com/

You're welcome Privateluca. One of the reasons I love living in Bangkok, besides obviously the nightlife, is the fact that there are excellent restaurants galore for very affordable prices when compared to the West. Here are a few more

One of the best coffee's in town in my opinion can be had D'Ark, located on the ground floor of the Emquartier. It's a good place to relax, watch the world go by and try one of their delicious coffee's or simple dishes. http://www.darkoffee.com/

Michelin brought out their first Bangkok guide earlier this year and awarded a number of restaurants with 1 and 2 stars. One of the restaurants awarded 1 star is Joel Robuchon, located in the Mahanakhon Cube right next to Chong Nonsi BTS station. There is an open plan kitchen where you can see the chefs at work and seating is either at the counter or at a table in the back. If you're going there alone or with just 1 friend it's fun to sit at the counter but if there are 3 or more of you that makes for awkward conversation and a table would be better. The food here is more than excellent, but it does come at a very high price; especially by Bangkok standards. Where this restaurant lets itself down for me is with their wine list. The selection of wines by the glass is very limited and too expensive, whilst it is virtually impossible to find a decent bottle on their list for an affordable price. It is for that reason that I am not too keen on returning.  http://robuchon-bangkok.com/

Personally I'm not a huge fan of Indian food but I did like Charcoal Tandoor at the Fraser Suites in Sukhumvit soi 11. Not cheap, but they serve high quality food in very nice surroundings...

If you like Barbeque and ribs look no further than Le Cochon Blanc on Sukhumvit soi 31. There's a very relaxed vibe about the place and the prices are OK for the food they offer. I particularly liked the sweetbreads ( ris de veau ).  https://www.lecochonblanc.com/

When it comes to restaurants Bangkok wins it from Pattaya by a country mile in my opinion. Pattaya for me is a bit of a culinary desert whilst the possibilities in Bangkok are endless, from simple inexpensive food to Michelin starred restaurants. Recommending restaurants is always a bit tricky though as different people value different things, but I'll take a stab at it...

Since we're in Thailand I'll start with a Thai restaurant. Osha on Wireless Road offers terrific Thai dishes in a very pleasant setting and is surprisingly affordable.  Great place to take a date with a  good value for money factor.
    http://www.oshabangkok.com/osharestaurant/

Masu Maki on Sukhumvit soi 39 is a very simple little restaurant that serves high quality sushi for very reasonable prices. Perfect for a quick lunch or simple dinner, not so perfect to bring a date though. You'll struggle to spend more than 1000b here which for Sushi is a great deal.

Been staying here for past week. building 1 , closest to front desk/Soi 6 is being renovated.  Very light construction noise during the day.
Looks like they are almost finished. Some rooms on upper floor already have beds and curtains. Now installing lights on balconies.
Still need to tile the balcony floors. Should be done by end of October... maybe.
I always liked this hotel...  enjoyed my stay....

Stayed for 3 nights (Th-Sat) in a 1 bedroom executive booked through agoda (w/bfast $93).
It's new, the location is 50m from soi 4 turning left & a right turn takes you to Suk & Nana bts in a matter of minutes. If you head straight  rather than follow the bend the alleyway takes you to soi 8.
Check in was a breeze even though the desk was unmanned at first and I was soon up to my room. You need the keycard to activate the lift. The room was spacious and well designed. The sofa was large enough and firm enough to accomodate two doing more than sitting...
Large bathroom, decent hot water although the cold tap came off in my hand! There is a bum gun. The lighting around the mirror could be better but no major problem.
Bed was large & very comfortable. Pillows are soft. If you want the room made up there's a button to the right of the bed.
Two tv's (samsung smart). The choice of channels was poor and the signal frequently dropped out for minutes at a time. My guest thought the wifi less than impressive too.
Staff are great and it's LB friendly. They didn't ask for id.
Breakfast was average. Egg station out by the bar. Usual Asian choices, some cereals, terrible coffee. Lack of fruit too.
I was the only BM with breakfast companion but it was no problem.
The pool on the roof is deep enough and ok for an 7 or 8 stroke lap but I noticed a huge overflow from just me. Don't put phone, clothes or paper on the ground when it's in use. Jacuzzi works fine. The sun is off the water at 1pm. The gym looked ok but I was too lazy to use it.
The bar hasn't been finished which is a shame - could be a real winner with some thought.
The front bar is ok. Usual big screen showing soccer.
Overall I'm glad I picked it now as it is still fresh. Can imagine it will look tired in a couple of years (some of the tiling & grouting was very thai & the cupboard doors neede ten goes to fully shut and turn out the light). Similar story to Galleria10.
The location is a winner for a short stay.

How is less than 2,5% a gigantic number?
If you multiply that with the chance of someone having G, you number will be really low.
and I get my numbers from scientific articles on PubMed, sciencedirect etc.
Knowing someone with G is anekdotical evidence btw.
I will repeat it one more time though. Being afraid of getting superG while punting is equally irrational as being afraid to die in a planencrash. There have been more plane related deaths in 2018 than newly diagnosed superG infections in 2016. (No data for 2017 or 2018)

Realise more mongers died in bangkok from a car accident than mongers who got Hiv from blowing someone.
Risk of injury during a ski trip is higher than catching either Hiv, G or Syfillis from oral sex.

And never ever forget one ski trip with a msm encounter could leave you paralysed with hiv for the rest of your life. You can win the negative lottery, but should you adapt your lifestyle?

FYI, you can also pre order a klook sim card and pick up at at the bkk airports.

I think they have a partnership with dtac as it look almost like a dtac sim.

If you see the circled drop down option, you can choose to pay in different currency other than thai baht, Just follow the instructions

it is very clear and concise. Moreover, they are giving a better discount now. When i last pre-ordered the sim card in March , it was 25% off, whereas now it is 50% off.

The Key, Soi 19 Alley is good with a deluxe room at $50 per night. It is situated with two access points to Sukhumvit and very quiet. Very close to Robinson's and Market for food and toiletries. A five minute walk to Cowboy, 10 to NEP, no joiner fee and I hope I mentioned no noise. Perfect hideaway.

Yes! All that is stored on phone not the sim. The only thing that changes is your phone number. Just put in the new sim and you are off and ready. If you get a sim at the airport the girls will load it and make sure all is in working irder.

yes but if you are someone who does not like smoke most rooms reak of it and for ST not so bad, but day to day up2u.

also, the LT rooms are upstairs on the second floor and they do not have the chair if that was your motivation. unless you have spent a lot of time incarcerated or working on a fishing boat, the size and condition of the ST chair rooms could make you a bit stir crazy. NO WINDOWS,.

there are LT rooms in the very back hall 2nd floor that are huge and have a couch and larger fridge, but i have only been able to get one of those twice in 15 years of going there. they also lack decor and the kind of comfort yo might want for LT stays.

another factor is the lack of good wifi, limited menu, and shit TV.

i have had a lot of LBs who will not get in the chair, so if you are a TOP or looking to do that often, the chair may not offer you what you seek.

but for a ST session in a seedy hotel with all that brings to a session. PB cant be beat.

one last thing to noite. the hotel building is U shaped. the wing on the Soi 3 side is run by one company, and the wing on the soi 11 side by another, who also runs the upstairs, the 3rd floor is unoccupied and closed off.

also, the soi 3 side DOES NOT HAVE THE CHAIRS.

the people who work the soi 3 side are asshats and MFs IMO. they also give you a lot of shit about having more than 1 girl which is just a ploy to jack you up for a tip, yet they wont even give you another towel for that.

the soi 11 side they are all OK and polite and they have never given me shit about extra girls. if i want an extra towel for a 3rd or 4th joiner i simply hand the room boy 100 baht while asking for that. never had them say no.

there are so many good cheap hotels in BKK that to go to PB for LT IMO would be a waste of your time and money, again, unless it's all about the chair for you.

for me it's the convenience, price and the seediness .......... further, i tend to call girls mid-day or late afternoon and have them meet me there before they go to work, and they all know where it is and never get lost.

    Pros -
    - very discreet
    - Decent entertainment system and large tele with porn and ability to connect to your phone/laptop
    - Huge spa bath
    - Private Pool
    - English speaking staff
    - thai room service food is fantastic
    - large comfortable bed

    Cons -
    - mosquitos, many. They do provide repellent and a bat to swat them.
    - not so clean, I cleaned the spa before using it and the shower was full of soap scum.
    - remote location, it's not really close to anything farang oriented, there's other bars and alike in the area but mainly Thai focused.
    - difficult for the taxi to find

This place is great if you want to party with privacy as a couple or a group, I would stay here again for group sessions, but wouldn't treat it as a base to explore Bangkok.
