Just turn right after getting out on Sukumvit and you will find a lot of them. Just cross soi 15 towards Nana and they are there. On the opposite side is CIB. So no need to walk too far. I saw a few right in front too.

I am not an engineer but from what I understood the problem was and is the engine. To get that speed they needed it to be embedded in the wings and all these big fans they use now would be of no use in a supersonic speed.

I was out during the day and come back for the evening. That's why I was not able to get to cib. Too many of them right in front. Lots.
Especially when you cross soi15 towards Nana there are lots in front of the Sofitel. Around 10 to 15 and in the area around 20 or so.
Great hotel and I hope they don't jack up the prices soon.

I stayed here early this month. Very good location and no extra charges. Asoke on one side and Nana on the other. Cib on the opposite.

Yes I did my booking online but as you say it's straight forward. It does help that they have more than a couple of rooms to do the testing.

It has a lot to do with Aerothai who provides the air traffic services in Thailand.
But it's getting overcrowded and the slot coordination committee has to be given credit for maintaining discipline and not giving to airline demands for timings that could mess the whole thing.

It's tight in EC. Maybe worth it to look at premium economy or the same in Eva Air.

I hate when hotels try to treat us as imbeciles. Of course they know that we know there are lbs. It is trying to humiliate us. I normally book a room for two people and if they try to charge a joiner fee I tell them to check her in as the 2nd person in the room. Since I have already paid for 2 people they have to check her in.
The next day I inform she has checked out.

Yes they found significant safety concern in the way Thailand has given air operators certification to some thai airlines. ICAO gave Thailand enough notice to rectify it but in typical thai fashion they messed it up. Then to make matters worse they invited the FAA for an audit thinking it will have a better outcome. But it was worse.
Now they got help from EASA and got a better result. In fact Thailand has only two major issues. One was on dangerous goods and the other was giving this air operators certification to some airlines.
If they had suspended these licenses then the major concern would have been removed.
Now due to the action by FAA Thailand has decided to go for the EASA certification system.
Actually there is huge commercial rivaly between FAA and EASA. But EASA is winning due to Europe and of course the former British colonies. If FAA had not done this I think Thailand would have gone for FAA certification.

Yes the airlines rating actually has no real bearing on it. It's just a newspaper poll who frankly do not know what they are talking about.

Rodrigo got a reaction from Boomerang in Online Flight bookings - who do you use?
Thank you. I have tried many online sites and the major issue is the rates they quote online at those sites were very rigid and in economy most of the times. My times need to be flexible and to be honest I am in aviation and have been all my life and also a member of the flyer forum too. Yes there are sometimes good rates from Europe and US to Asia but those don't work for me because of these issues.
    Thank you for the advice

I have always taken a taxi from the official taxi queue to Nana. It's about 300 plus toll. The place where it gets bad is just after the exit from the highway into Ploenchit. But every taxi driver knows to cut through Ploenchit Centre into soi 2. There is no way I am going to take a train dragging my luggage from Ploenchit bts for just a couple of hundred bahts.

If you pick up an early bird you can take them through the parking lot, through the restaurant to the lift. That is if you don't want to go through the reception. The odd thing I discovered during my many stays here is that the junior suites has a design problem with the showers. No matter how many times I stayed in different ones, the water flows down on to the floor when I take a shower.
Good hotel and I will stay here most of the time, if I have to pay for my hotel.

This is quite a dated hotel. Very old and never been refurbished to modern standards/decor.
It is LB friendly and is in a nice part of town, lots happening around Soi 11 and 13 and a 10 minute walk to Soi 4 / Nana. Thermae Bar is at the top of the road if you fancy some freelance GGs.
If its booked and paid for, then enjoy it. You should hopefully just be needing the hotel to sleep and shag
