United plans supersonic passenger flights by 2029

Recommended Posts

For those who want to get there quick.....Just in-time for the end of Covid!

Probably supersonic prices too.

All I know is if they fly it out of LAX, it's guaranteed to arrive late at its destination even if it flies at the speed of light.

personally the best thing would be to have a satellite hotel/casino in orbit so once your up there and come down its  less than 24 hrs to any where in the world . imagine sat/ladyboy full of bars no alcohol tax or boys in brown .

I'm just guessing that tossing dice in the weightlessness of space would add to the house edge casinos already have at the craps tables.

Wow! Excited for this! From what I heard, Boom expects to launch its supersonic passenger planes in 2025, with commercial flights beginning in 2029. Once operational, Overture is projected to be the first big commercial aircraft to be carbon-neutral from the start, having been designed to fly on 100 percent sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

for the past 40 years ive heard about all these fast fight from here to there. never happens. you need the milk run to keep the planes full thus make money . slow poke wins the race .

Yes but supposedly they can't fill A380's so they can't make money on those but they do off smaller planes with longer ranges.

Similarly the supersonic planes will get smaller and more economical. If they prices and service are like business class of today with the speed, I could see it succeeding.

I am not an engineer but from what I understood the problem was and is the engine. To get that speed they needed it to be embedded in the wings and all these big fans they use now would be of no use in a supersonic speed.
