OneTrueSaxon reacted to davvvid in Bangkok Buddy Visa Run Review
Due to the face that my visa was about to expire on the 31st of December but I was going to stay a week more, and not wanting to pay the overstay fee, I decided to do a visa run with the company Bangkok Buddy.

The meeting point is at sukhumvit soi 12 at korean town at 4:20am but unfortunately for some reason the staff was late today and instead of leaving at 5am, we left at 5:20am. The minibus fits 11 including 1 driver and the journey there was smooth. 2 stops midway for toilet breaks both which were 20 mins.

Arrived at the poipet border at 11am and we went through immigration to leave Thailand which took 45 minutes due to a long queue. After that, the staff took our passports while we headed to a casino resort for a buffet lunch. The spread is decent and it offers a wide range of food but some of it was cold.

After an hour, the staff returned our passports with the Cambodian stamps already stamped in our passport. Headed back to immigration to head back into Thailand and again a long queue. Took us an hour this time to clear immigration.

Back onto the minivan at 3pm and headed back to Bangkok. Arrived at 8:30pm due to terrible traffic near the airport.

All in all, despite the delay in the morning which then probably caused the immigration queues to be long, thus making us leave late and thus the traffic. the entire journey and process was very smooth. It cost 1500฿ for me as I have a Singapore passport but I believe for non ASEAN passports, it cost 2500฿ instead.

    Would recommend this company.

Mine arrived yesterday. I upgraded from a 6s. The 7 has a matte black finish. I think it looks pretty sharp. The hoo-haw about the home button radically changing seems to be total BS. It still functions pretty much the same way as previous versions with fingerprint activation, but still needs to be pressed to move between apps. I can't tell any difference myself.

The thing you notice immediately is the improved display. it's much brighter with more vividness in the colors. I really like the display upgrade.

I was playing music on it last night and it seemed to be chewing through the battery charge at a faster clip than on my old iPhone. It does come with an adapter for your headphones to be used with the lightning jack. I haven't tried out the earbuds that came with the phone.

I took a few pics with the camera, but not enough of them to form an opinion about its abilities. It too is supposed to be an improvement from previous versions.

I haven't dropped it into water yet to see if it really is waterproof. I will take Apple's word for it.

The setup went smoothly and everything transferred from the old phone with no issues.

If you are moving up from an IPhone 5 or 6, I would recommend getting this phone. If you currently have a 6s, you should probably just save the money for your next ladyboy expedition.

    spot on.

my hotel of choice for several years, i wish all hotels functioned like this one. has a lot to do with all the Filipino staff that work the front of the house. good communication, a real desire to please, and NOBODY will look at you sideways for your mongering habits.

i once had three LBs parade through the lobby consecutively over the course of an afternoon and evening. all were stopped at reception, treated respectfully while providing their ID, and when they all left i got a polite call from the front desk asking me if it was ok for them to leave.

the mattresses are excellent, the linen soft and smooth, good 3/4 size frig in the rooms, and all the bigger rooms have good sofas and a decent sized work desk, too, if needed. for smokers, every room has a small balcony with a table and chair.

maid service is top drawer, the hotel is immaculate, bathrooms are in perfect working order, WiFi kicks ass, the sauna, gym and pool on the roof are well maintained and get very little use so never too busy, motorcycle rental in the shop across the soi is good too.

room service is good and comes from the sister hotel August Suites next door.

can walk to Pattaya Klang in 3 minutes where there are 24/7 restaurants and services.

EVERY GIRL I EVER CALLED KNEW THE HOTEL'S LOCATION. not far from the bus station.

if you like to use the pool request the 5th or 6th floor when booking (i use Agoda) and you will not need the lift when coming and going to the pool area.

after my third visit they were upgrading me when they could.

ps - the roof is great for watching fireworks when they have them at the beach.

I have stayed at April suites over half a dozen times. A nice boutique hotel with a rooftop pool and excellent VFM. It's just of second road and Pattaya Klang. Good location for a stroll to soi 6 and not too far from Soi Buakhao, even shorter if you cut through August suites. Big plus coming back on baht bus you get off right near the hotel

Season 5 hotel soi 5 The best roof top pool, so far as I've stayed. New hotel just around the corner from soi 6

@Mind just off second road and soi 6 massive pool it's not on the roof but ground level best 1 bed room suites ive stayed.

Areca lodge central location great swimming pool in evergreen wing this is used for the volleyball event (watched some from my balcony four years back)

Personally trying Adelphi suites this trip.. Just down the road from Sensations and Jollys restaurant

this has been discussed inumerable times on the sister forum, and probably here too.

regardless of your intentions, many hotels follow the laws set down for hotels that require every guest to be registered. the number one reason is safety in case of a fire or some other calamity. this is the primary reason why most hotels ask for the "joiners" ID/TH Card.

another reason is if it is a hotel that charges a joiners fee, they want to get it.

but most importanlty, any decent hotel will take the ID so that the girl most go and retrieve it. then they will call the room to see if you know she is leaving, and if you are OK with that. this gives you a chance to check your belongings, etc and if there is anything wrong like a missing cell phone, laptop, wallet, passport, empty mini-bar, etc, they will hold her at reception for you.

they also want to make sure you are still alive and well. that may sound over the top, but too many crazy episodes over the decades with girls and guys fighting or worse.

granted, all of this negates what you are trying to accomplish.

needless to say every hotel/guesthouse is different, and they all apply the rules as they choose (or whoever is on duty chooses), and the interactoin with the staff and other guests that may be around can be aggravating if they choose to offer their opinion of your choice of partner.

when i worked the hotels in Pattaya back in the day as a department head, there was a security guard that was found to be harrassing the guests with joiners. he was not only being an impolite ass-hat, he was telling them they had to pay a joiners fee, and he would then pocket it. not only was he fired, they changed the security company soon after that.

if what you say is so

you should bite the bullet and make sure the girls register. its for your own safety, and it really can keep the crazy drunk/high thieving ones in check. most of all, it will be a great deterent to theft.

I tried this place yesterday and was positively surprised how good the food is. I had Calamari, fried to perfection IMO, and Carbonara that was much better than I had expected, even with cream sauce. Total bill was 390 Bath including 2 soft drinks.
As Mardhi said, small place with few tables, only one outside table for smoking. Nice staff and sure the location can't be beaten, maybe 30 meters from CIRB

Located on the corner of the street with a prime position I ventured here with Mrs M the other week. First time visit and not impressed.

I had a craving for a decent burger and had high expectations. Mrs M saw the pic of the rack of ribs and she was sold. The best part of the meal was a Mexican seafood (sort of) salad as the starter. My Wagyu burger was pretty inedible and I left at least half of it. The mincing they did meant that there were long strands of muscle still fully intact. One or more got stuck in my throat and it took me a good few beers to dislodge it. The Mrs thought her pork tender but pretty tasteless. I tried it and came to same conclusion.

Service was prompt but disconcerting. Maybe 5 or 6 service and kitchen staff kept going outside and coming back in continually while talking to each other. There seemed to be no reason for it other than chatting with their friends. Predominantly Filipino service and pretty loud. Not exactly a quiet place as a result. Restaurant was 2/3rd empty albeit it was raining outside. Bill came to about 1800 baht from memory which was expensive for what we had.

Prepared to give it another try but it won't be in a hurry.

Will be in BKK tomorrow for 2 nights and just found out my regular hotel (Ever Rich soi 7) is full !!

So, will switch to the other side and give this place a try. It does sound a bit of a Fawlty Towers joint on the booking.com reviews so it maybe a short review if I ain't impressed. I walked past it the other day when looking for some places to eat in soi 10 (ended up in Galleria for coffee, very good). It is about the 3rd closest hotel to the new CIB and about a 100 metre walk, if that.

I stayed at "Da Bed Hotel" Just a short walk from NEP going away from Sukhumvit. Any ladyboy in heels could stumble that far...

I specifically stayed here just to find out what a low end room would be. It is workable... but not by much. I felt safe in the area and there are a couple other places nearby so one is not limited.

I thought I did a review but I cannot find it. Barely acceptable condition for me for sleeping overnight. Clean room but old and worn out. No mold. Safe is in the lobby not the room. No coffeemaker in room. Must purchase in lobby. There is a washing machine for laundry if you need. Dryer too I think. Toilet did not have a cover over the tank and I had to reach in the water to flush it. TV was old CRT. Not much in the way of power outlets. cost about $26 USD per night.

from the moment you land at the airport, you will be under surveillance until the time that you leave LOS, and especially in the entire Nana / Sukhumvit area and in Pattaya and Phuket, whether you are on the street or in a venue. its just the way things are now.

as far as the ID check, as SheLuver states above, that is in your best interest despite it being a bit uncomfortable for those who are trying to avoid this kind of contact. hotels are required by law to know who is in the rooms at all times. the first reason is for the safety of the guests in case of a fire or another dangerous scenario. second, if a girl's ID is on record i doubt that she will try to do anything that would be a problem for you as she knows that they have her ID. this is actually a really good thing. the better run hotels will call your room when she goes to retrieve her ID and ask you to confirm that she can go and has not created any problems for you (and subsequently them).

third, as stated above, nobody is going to notice you in Nana regardless of what you are doing unless of course, you go out of your way to be conspicuous or a drunken asshole (which they seem to not notice many times).

3rd, like reviews of girls and what BMs may pay them, the price of a room for one person may be cheap and for another, it is not. given the fact that there are so many inexpensive places you should be able to find what you want. granted, tourism is down and hotel prices may reflect that in some cases, but manyTH business owners will actually raise prices in hard times thinking that the few guests they have can make up the difference.

1000baht a night? Try coffee and Bean, nearly opposite hahanrans pub in soi 4, but dont expect a large room.
