the chair is great if you get the right girl who understands its potential ... whenever i meet Blair Waldorf/Praewa at PB i stop at the Seven 11 on Soi 11 and pick up some Absolute Cranberry Vodka and Iced Tea and a few x-long straws ... then when i meet Blair in the room i simply lay back on the chair, hold on to a tall frosty cocktail and let her hammer away while sipping the cool one at her leisure ... after 2 or 3 cocktails this girl is flying non-stop ... and i am having a very relaxing time.

a little encouragement can go a long way to having a good time ...

she loves this chair ... perfect hight for a good approach ...

there are 4 area in the PB Hotel with three different operators who all run their part of the hotel autonomously and very differently ...

Ground floor left side (no parking space): older rooms that have not been renovated in a very long time, dark and dingy, and will hassle you if you have 2 girls with you and they will try to jack you up for more money, if they do, tell them you want an extra towel.
Ground Floor right side (curtained parking spaces): these rooms were all renovated about 5 years ago, a bit worn now again, and the bathrooms are not looking like great, but good water pressure and lots of hot water, the sex chair, and lots of mirrors (if you are a narcissist).
2nd floor (enter from reception in the lobby): they have rooms on the second floor which were all renovated in the last 3 years or so, good for ST, and also rooms that are LT, the rooms all the way in the back are much larger and are good for longer staying guests and last i knew had large refrigerators and couches beside the normal bed and fixtures..
3rd floor (never been open to the public): i have never seen the 3rd floor open in 20 years of going there.

considering that most folks go there for short time, and the expectations are not that high, IMHO all the rooms are passable and considering the price, no complaints ... clean rooms, clean sheets, clean towels, soap, condoms if you need (pay extra), big beds, most always a motorcycle taxi in the parking lot to take you back to the BTS or Nana.

the price may have gone up 20 or 30 baht but still an easy location as most P4P girls know it, the room is OK, good water pressure and hot water for a ST hotel, the coffee shop TH food is OK (do not order Farang food there), and its 5 minutes form NEP.

bkkladyboy reacted to Siam Man in SM Grande Residence (updated 2015)
I just spent a week at the SM Grande Residence. Was quite a good price on Agoda. I checked the same dates on their website and that info came back as the dates weren't available.

The room was quite spacious. I think it was 34 sq meters. Small safe, average bathroom that was a bit dated. Nice big bed. Maid service adapted to my sleeping hours and came around 4:30 each day. It had a balcony, but only window access.

The desk people were pretty ordinary. The night I checked in there was no one even at the desk. I got the security guard to find her. He pointed that she was in the toilet. So I waited and then she showed up from somewhere else not the toilets? They were absent a couple of other times when I wanted to drop off my key before going out..

I called them before booking to make sure they were guest friendly. They didn't have a clue what I was talking about so it was a wasted long distance phone call. The best I got from them was to call back in three hours. So I took a little gamble and booked it anyway as the price was quite good at $45 AUD a night. I wrote on comments that I would be bringing guests home each night and let me know if that was a problem. They never responded.

Turned out it was indeed guest friendly. They have a gate out front with a security guard who collects and gives back their ID's. However they didn't call up to the room when they left alone, so I suppose one could leave you for dead if they wanted. Lot's of people actually live there so I could see where bringing in P4P gurls could be frowned upon, but it's Soi 4 location means they need to to compete with other hotels in the area that are also Guest friendly. It's not to far down Soi 4 and before the Ibis. Easy walks to Nana and Rajah hotel complex. You can also take their tuk tuk to Sukhumvit and Soi 4 intersection or to the Nana BTS station. The tuk tuk service doesn't run very late. I think stops at 6 or 7.

They have a pool on the 3rd floor which was pretty decent size. You have to use your room towels but you can exchange them for fresh ones after. They also have a fitness center which I didn't check out. A BKK Post is free for guests on the lobby counter.

Stayed here for two nights last week. Splashed out a bit (aud 250) because I wanted to take a girl somewhere nice. She loved it. You get a private villa with large dining area, big bedroom with day bed, walled courtyard with pool and outdoor bath. Huge bathroom. Room service food is provided by the restaurant next door. For other food options turn right out of the hotel cross over the train line and on the left past the 7-11 (there are 2 opposite each other!) is a square full of food stalls - reasonably priced and several cater to western taste. Cheap and tasty. There's not much to do in the neighbourhood but given the rain we were soon inside making our own entertainment. The tv is a samsung smart tv and has 16 channels and is a basic package. My girl conjured up some movies via her smartphone. The outdoor bath is big enough for two 😎. The staff are friendly but not super slick - they forgot to replenish tea & coffee and when I mentioned it we received enough to last a month! Check in and out was a breeze. Didn't see much of other guests, it's a great spot for a romantic break 😊. One last point - have a read of the reviews on agoda and try to imagine the sad prick malaysian guy who posts the negative review.I enjoyed it, shame about the rain but if you have solid chemistry with your lb this is a good spot to stay.

Stayed two nights at Da Bed Hotel on my last trip. To summarize I would say it delivers what I expected in this price range. Walk in price was 800 when staying for two nights, probably negotiable if staying longer. On agoda price seems to be 850.

    http://www.agoda.com/da-bed-hotel/hotel/bangkok-th.html

Location close to the action: Walk down soi 4 and turn left into the alley opposite to the Ratcha parking entrance. The hotel is located on the left side at the end of that alley.

Small room. No safe in room. Old small TV, never used it but it probably works. Not the most comfortable bed but I have slept in worse. AC and hot water in shower was OK. Friendly staff and of course there is no problem bringing a guest for the night.

If you're on a tight budget this could be an option with good location.

IMHO as a person who has worked in TH hotels since the mid-90's many expect you to pay for a third regardless of the time spent in the room. they know its a joiner for P4P and so they want to be compensated for the use of the hot water, towels (some punters ask for additional ones), etc. this may not always be a legit request, but in some respects IFO do not blame them for asking.

and NO ... you can not use your Breakfast Buffet vouchers for room service. :Rolling___:

I honestly don't know, as I stay here at the end of my holidays usually the last 3 or 4 days and I'm pretty knack red by then and just take one at a time.

Best option is to email them and ask if they charge for a second guest staying only a few hours

Recently my company put me up at Asia Hotel. It is not really near the action but I thought I would share my take on it anyways.

    Pros:

    - Directly connected to BTS.
    - Semi private entrance (don't have to pass front desk) can take gurls straight to your room.
    - Good buffet breakfast.
    - Some very good restaurants.
    - Surprisingly decent LB Cabaret show nightly.
    - Morning newspaper
    - two swimming pools

    Cons:

    - Rooms are a bit dated.
    - Charge for Wifi (ended up costing close to what the room did).
    - Wifi only reaches half the hotel.
    - Some of the worst service at any hotel I stayed at.
    - too many families (not good for a mongerer lol).

This is not a hotel I would ever pay for with my own money but it was decent for a business trip. The direct connection to the BTS was its major advantage. They do have a very good Brazilian BBQ restaurant that I have been back for a few times.

agreed, and thanks for the evening i was there with you.

i remember it was raining and as i entered the property it really was like being in JP. the lit lanterns hanging form the tree casting their light through the rain and mist as i walked along the short winding path to the restaurant truly set the mood which continued into the rustic restaurant where we sat by the large picture window looking over the garden area.

needless to say the company and conversation that evening were great.

agreed, Arirang its a great place to enjoy some Korean BBQ.

the little Korea Town area at Times Square has a few good places, i also like the ones that offer soup instead of grill.

there is also a small shop in the back area where you can buy Korean groceries.

another good spot, a bit more upscale and with private rooms, would be the one in Pathumwan Princess Hotel (adjacent to MBK) Kongju .

i spent 10 days in Seoul a few years back and i developed a real appetite for Korean Cuisine. IMO it ranks along side of JP and TH for freshness and flavors.

    Gents,

For those with a hankering for real deal Japanese while in the Big Mango, I highly recommend Ten Sui on Sukhumvit 16. The restaurant is in its own house with a large courtyard/garden. Step into the property and you feel like you are in Japan. They have regular seating and tatami rooms. Note: this is a high level joint and priced accordingly for some things, but I would match the quality against just about any Japanese I have eaten outside Japan itself.

They cover all the basic Japanese "sub-cuisines" and specialize in Kaizeki and v. fresh sashimi/sushi. Those two will set your wallet back - you are starting at 3000 baht for Kaizeki or 2300 baht for Sashimi for 2 ppl. They are constantly changing the specials with the seasons and the ingredients are of highest quality.

HOWEVER, more staple dishes like assorted tempura (B350), Miso Cod/grilled salmon (B380/280), udon/soba (B250) and others are much more reasonable (relative to Western or Hong Kong prices and even the rising prices in Bangkok HiSo restaurants).

The lunch sets are a great option - starting from 330 baht you have a wide choice of lots of very good and very filling lunch sets.

As a high end place slacks, shoes, collared shirt are necessary.

As a comparison, I would rate this place far higher than the Japanese in JW Marriott (Tsu & Nami) at similar or lower pricing levels.

See the very extensive menu at their website: http://www.tensui.co/

Some good pics at their facebook: https://th-th.facebook.com/Tensui16

For those with a hankering for genuine Korean BBQ, I can highly recommend Arirang restaurant.

Was there last night with my lady and a fellow BM and his gal. I go there quite frequently, usually just my lady and I - she loves it.

It is located at the front of a "Little Korea" strip mall, right on Sukhumvit, between Sois 10 and 12, and directly across Sukhumvit from Soi 15.

It is the classic BBQ set up with a grill in the middle of the table. Pork cuts range from 300-350 baht, beef from 400-550 baht. one order of meat is enough for 2 people. With the order you get 6 free side dishes called collectivley "banchan" (refillable upon request). They include different types of kimchi, veggie, mini-pancakes, and so on. you also get sauces and various lettuces to wrap the meat in.

They have lots of the other classic dishes: soups, stews, noodles, pancakes and seafood dishes.

Usually we get a meat for BBQ-ing, plus a soup with rice to share for 200 baht, sometimes a pancake or noodle - so you are looking at between 500 and 1000 for 2 not including drinks.

Certainly a step up in price from street food, but I think it is great value for money for very authentic Korean.

A side note - for those BKK residents who like to experiment with home cooking, there are a couple of Korean mini-markets to the back of the "mall" on the left. They sell all sorts of Korean staples, as well as a big selection of homemade kimchi. I have whipped up a fair Korean meal in the past after a buying spree at one of these shops! (well fair enough for non-Koreans perhaps...)

bkkladyboy reacted to Gympy in Jasmine City Hotel / Jasmine Executive suites Soi 23
    Hi,
Can't see any reviews for this so I thought I add one given I stayed here for a couple of nights. I usually stay at the JW mariott as I travel for work and they pay but this time I had to book a room for a couple of night at my own expense. I then moved to the JW Mariott on Soi 2 so it worked out OK... nice to stay at both ends of the magic strip from Soi 4 to Soi 21.

Jasmine is more serviced apartments as opposed to a full hotel but it has a restaurant and a gym and a pool. As far I can see the complex used to be split into the Jasmine Executive Suites and the Jasmine City Hotel and there are still two websites but on Agoda it is all listed under one heading of Jasmine City Hotel.

Location: Just at the junction of Soi 23 and Sukhumvit main road. It's about 100M walk to the Soi Cowboy and 100M to a stairs leading to Asoke BTS, MRT, Terminal 21. Good location for transport and easy to get to and from airport by train.

General impressions: Somewhat confusing layout. It's basically two connected towers where the suites start from Floor 10 up to 30. The lower floors are part of a mall and a car park so you enter it via a very small lobby off the car park entrance where you take the lift to the 10th floor. The 10th floor has the formal lobby where you check in. Depending on which part you are staying in you can also get to your rooms by a choice of three other sets of lifts directly off the car park entrance.

This is the picture off Agoda and you can see the two parts of the complex. The tall tower on the left is Executive Suites and the building on the right is the City Hotel.

Rooms: Room was nice. I booked an Executive Jacuzzi suite because it was on special offer at 2500 Baht (no breakfast) but to be honest it was not worth the extra over the normal deluxe suite which was on offer for 1900 baht. The Executive suite I got was on floor 11 and had a jacuzzi as well as a shower and had more space but in fact the extra space was of no use as you can see from photos. There are other room stypes including proper 1 and 2 bed suites. Prices seem to vary a lot ... I had seen prices ranging from 2000 to 10,000 baht for the same room types over the space of a few days ! I think the recent downturn in tourist travel due to the protests has hit this place so I seem to have booked at a good time.

Bedroom with nice sofa (put to good use ) :

View from bedroom back to entrance. Bathroom has a window into room and you can see the 'living room' with a kitchen in the middle. This extra space was badly laid out. It would be much better to have it incorporated into the bedroom and have a nice couch there with a table.

OUtside on the same floor as the lobby is a smallish swimming pool with a coupe of small terraces around it for sunbathing. The pool area is between the two towers and faces East-West so I bet there is not much sun on the pool in December. This picture was taken at about 11:30AM in mid April :

The Gym is small but good range of equipment and I did not eat in the restaurant as I worked most days and got breakfast in the office.

Guest Friendly : Very much so but if you want the reassurance of a hotel taking a girls ID and checking up with you then this is not the place to stay. If you are the opposite and want somewhere where you can treat your room like your own apartment then I would say it's ideal. You just walk into the car park entrance area and go to one of the sets of lifts and head up. This is based on where I was staying on floor 11 of the City Hotels block. I can't say for certain about the other block but I think its the same. You get a lift and there is no need to stop on the lobby floor..you can go direct to your own floor as long as you use your room keycard.

The place felt almost abandoned it was so quiet and it has a weird layout as regards lifts to rooms. I never saw anyone around after 8PM and I took a few guests back over the few nights I stayed there and we never met a soul. If you can get a good price and like the whole serviced apartment with minimal customer service and staff interaction then it's a good place to stay.

I came across this App the other day ( http://www.hotelquickly.com/ ) and thought it might come in handy for some of the guys in BKK.
The app itself is pretty good, easy to use with a map etc.

It is not designed to book long stays at hotels it is only for 1-5 nights and the prices are cheap because it is one of those last minute type deals.

Once you have your CC details in the app you can book a room and have it confirmed in under 30 seconds any time between 8am and 4am which I thought was pretty impressive.

if i may add to this important thread >>> for people who have a lot of time (1 week or more depending on what they do or do not find and any further testing they will recommend.) i suggest that you also try this place:

    Bang Rak Hospital
    STI Clinic

    189 Sathon Tai
    Yannawa, Sathon, Bangkok 10500, Thailand

    02-2860431

this is a govt hospital that is a major part of all the international STD programs for Thailand, especially HIV/Aides. they were one of the first in Asia to sign on to the International effort to figure all this out and that is all they do there. i have been several times for my periodic check-ups. very friendly, very matter of fact, and no bs or attitude was ever expressed to me on either visit.

    they will check everything.

NOTE: the posters on the walls of this place may have you grabbing your junk and running for the hills. very graphic depictions of what STDs can do when they ravage your body. these STD posters make the pictures on the cigarette packs look appealing. but at least you will know what you are up against the next time you get naked and start thinking about stabbing the black peanut BB.

these people conduct the most thorough tests known to the medical profession anywhere. they have always been in the forefront of the cause to reduce STDs.

they are also very inexpensive as it is mainly a place for Thais.

take the BTS to Chong Nonsi Station on the Silom line. as shown in the map below. if you call them simply ask for an English speaker if one does not answer the phone.

bkkladyboy got a reaction from American Eagle in Some thoughts on US visas
+1 from me for all the great intel and the time it took you to write this all down for our benefit. thanks.

i was married to a GG years ago and went through hell at the interview in 2000 when we were denied, despite all the photos and letters (pre email) showing we had been together as a couple for a long time, my work permit from a Thai Hotel Chain, my passport that showed i had resided in TH for 8 years at that time, a letter from my Senator (head of the foreign relations committee) requesting the visa be granted, a letter from my employer stating that i had a good job and was welcome back after the holiday in the states, and wife being able to speak English fairly well the embassy staff told me we were denied because it was my country's duty to protect me from myself, and what he perceived to be a passing fancy and infatuation. there is actually a rule that was implemented during the Korean War for this because so many guys wanted to bring Korean women home.

my wife had a child by another farang (an asshole who left her when she was 5 months pregnant) and the closing comment from the dick at the embassy was, i also think you are going there to leave the child with your family to be raised and go to an american school. despite the fact that the kid was going to a reputable international school in Pattaya at the time and we had told them during the interview that the reason we were going home was because my father was gravely ill, hospitalized, and we wanted the family to see the my wife and child before he passed away.

knowing that i was never going to get them the visas i ended the conversation by telling the ass that i had no intention of leaving my child and that all though the schools in america may be good, i did not want my child to be at risk of getting shot at school. he then told me to leave, the interview was over, and he went to lunch.

maybe his farang wife burnt his toast at breakfast, who knows.

the point is, that no matter what you do or what you show them, its all up to some low level public servant who may have an attitude.

SO FOLLOW THE OPs ADVICE AND MAKE SURE YOU HAVE DONE ALL THAT YOU CAN TO PREPARE, YOU ONLY GET ONE CHANCE. and if its better to wait, wait.

EDIT: i might add that my wife felt that she had lost so much face at that interview that she suffered self-doubt for a very long time and got depressed for months. she felt that she was responsible for us not getting the visas and that she had ruined the whole idea of going on the trip, and that she was a bad girl in the eyes of my family. i also forgot to tell you that we had a DNA test done on the kid and myself so that when we told them the child was not mine, thinking that would show even more commitment, that they would ask for the DNA test, and we would already have it.

i hope this is not seen as hijacking, i really wanted to reinforce what you said about being prepared, and basically getting one chance.

bkkladyboy, in the spirit of this thread I am posting a link to a wonderful video of Bangkok. Hope you don't mind. The site it comes from is excellent and you and others who so wish will find some remarkable films of/from Bangkok, Thailand and the planet.
