Thanks guys! Thanks a lot for your excellent feedback - much appreciated!
I didn't expect to get any sound feedback when I was writing the OP... All the better that your posts were thoughtful, elaborate, wise, and also of actual practical help! Your guidance will help me making the best of my future stays in Bangkok!
Flipflop's advice to build relationships with the girls you meet in Thailand is particularly important I think ! I've been to Bangkok about seven or eight times in the last 10 months - or about every six to seven weeks on average...
I particularly regret not having stayed in contact with some very nice girls I met last summer... With one exception they were all basically just one-off encounters...
The problem I see is that unless one can permanently live in LOS it's difficult to maintaining long-term relationships. I do have in mind applying for a retirement visa sometime, but for various reasons it's unlikely that this will work out within the next three, four years already... But we'll see... sometimes miracles happen...

I also appreciate the suggestion by SAGuy to check out the scene in Udon Thani. I've never been there and I haven't even thought of it before... But it sounds intriguing. As I dislike Pattaya, that will be a real good alternative for a change of scenery from Sukhumvit and Silom...
Thanks to Ropey for the great overview of the three nightlife areas! Very helpful! I understand now that going to the venues in the local areas will probably be a lot more fun if you ask a girl back in "tourist town" to come along with you instead of just going there on your own and trying your luck alone...
Rock bar in Coco Walk however sounds like a place I might check out on my own...
Udom Suk is perhaps a little bit too far out of the way... But I will keep it on my 'list' anyway...
Srinakarin still looks interesting to me. Some bars there have an internet presence, such as the Drunk,  1Down4up, Drive, the Bronx, Begin, or Ru 69 bar.
RCA is definitely on my radar screen. The idea with the card and the Line ID is excellent! Will try...
Ratchada Rot Fai is also a good idea that I didn't come up with on my own so far. I can see that the train market there is better accessible than the one in Srinakarin because of its proximity to MRT Thailand Cultural Center station...
I've read mixed reviews of the nightlife scene further 'down' Ratchada, in alleys 4 & 6. But I guess I'm much too old for Snop, Fake and Hollywood anyhow...
Didn't really have Thong Lor and Saphan Kway on my radar so far... But since both are easily accessible from both, Sukhumvit as well as Surawong, I think I shall explore these areas as well sometime...
Good to know that there are so many great options in Bangkok! It never gets boring! That's one reason why I like it so much...
    Thanks :-)

I've been to Talad Rod Fai a few times, it's a good night out if you like memorabilia and antique sort of things. It's a mix of locals and tourists, the ladyboys I've seen have been with bfs walking around or working in the stalls. The bars are tiny and not really a place to go for.
I've been to rock bar a few times in coco walk, I've not seen any ladyboys in the area. The problem you'll have here and many Thai orientated places is that they go out in big groups and don't really mingle with others outside their groups. Western style bars are popular for P4P and singles looking for farang because they allow random people to meet, Thai bars are more for groups of friends to drink/sing together, there is very little interaction outside their immediate group.
I haven't been to Udom Suk nightclubs but there's plenty of these sorts of locations dotted around Bangkok, for some reason they tend to have the best food too. They're all girls as far as I'm aware, you'd need to go to a gay area to find ladyboys for local guys.
Places imo you would be more successful :

RCA - loads of ladyboys go here for fun but it's hard to break them away from their groups they go in. Bring a card with your line ID on it to slip to them.
Ratchada Rot Fai Market - just up Rama IX is the newer version of the old Rot Fai market, bigger bars and apparently there are ladyboys there according to another BM in a thread from a year or more ago.
Thonglor - there are plenty of Thai nightclubs here, I've seen ladyboys in groups when I've been out and about too. But again, breaking them from the group will be challenging.
Saphan Kwai - near saphan Kwai bts is a straight and gay gogo bar area aimed at Thais. Bound to be ladyboys there, but not sure where exactly. The straight area is on Suttisan Winitchai Rd around soi Inthamara 2. The gay gogos are opposite side of Phahonayothin Rd down Soi Pradiphat 20 - near Embassy Hotel.
As a tourist, you will have limited success with any non P4P ladyboys, as they generally are more interested in building a relationship (whatever that relationship may be) than a one night stand with a tourist who may never be back. So I agree with Flip-flops comment above, if you're going to go to the effort to meet them in these places make sure you let them know you're not just a 'one hit wonder'.

I pay close to 1200 for Teno-Em at Silom Clinic, so 660 is almost half the price. But at least I will be sure it is genuine pills. I rather pay a little extra for my own piece of mind given what we protect us from.

Yes. However, if you ask the desk to send your guest up, they will do so without your having to come downstairs. Frankly, I prefer this added level of security. At the Majestic Grande, I had a couple of ladyboys who had been to my room early in my visit show up uninvited/unannounced later. Not at all cool.

I’ll answer my own post. Been researching the availability of truvada in LOS and there’s some really good things that I came across in the fight to prevent HIV.

Firstly, Truvada is owned by Gilead Sciences. They own a monopoly over the Prep anti viral drug. In first class countries, they’re the sole providers and creators of Truvada.

In LOS, India, elsewhere that is developing there are quite a few generic versions. Out of the goodness of their heart, Gilead does not pursue the generic versions for patent infringement.

In LOS, Truvada can be found be is upwards of 20,000 baht per month for 30 pills.

The generic versions are identical in compounds/ingredients and range anywhere from 600 baht to 1,500 baht per month.

Ricovir-Em is one such generic version created in India by the largest drug manufacturer in the world.

Teno-Em is a generic version that is created under the guidance of the Thai govt. easily available for 600 baht for the Thai masses.

There are a couple more as well.

Thailand has committed lots of money and research towards protecting its citizen against HIV.

The easiest way to access these drugs is to go to the Thai Red Cross Anonymous Clinic - close to Lumphimini Park.

I also canvassed many pharmacies in the lower Sukhumvit area and the majority don’t have Teno-em or Ricovir-em in stock but can order it and receive it with 24 hrs.

    That’s how I got myself some Teno-em.

Citrus Suites has lived up to the hype! It’s a great hotel, easy access to the NEP. The suites are massive and extremely comfortable. The staff has been absolutely professional to me and my guests.

For those of you who care about the walk of shame through the lobby, it’s a mere 20 feet from the hotel entrance to the elevators. And the lobby is a ghost town after 1am.

The morning buffet is a bit weak in my opinion but maybe my expectations are a bit out of scope here. Nonetheless, the buffet is sufficient. Orange juice ain’t so great.

The beats restaurant is adequate as well. And I received a daily 100 baht voucher to use at the restaurant.

As far as reservations are concerned, I’d recommend using their mobile site. It was cheaper compared to using a desktop browser. Interesting to see that difference. I saved 5000 baht for my 7 day stay. I booked 5 days prior to my stay.

Here are some pics of my suite.

Sorry SAG got to disagree quite forcefully here on points  1 and 2.
I write from the perspective of someone who lives in the Australian bush and snake bites here are a fairly common occurence.
If someone tried to kill a snake after being bitten they will in all likelihood be bitten again this double or trebles the amount of venom in their system. Couple this with the effort of trying to kill the thing and the person has a real good chance of dying or being very very sick for a very long time.

Tourniquets are a big no no, a compression bandage or wide strip of clothshould be used. The person should be kept CALM and the wound left unwashed so that the snake can be identified.
The following site run by the Australian government gives some good protocolshttps://www.healthdirect.gov.au/snake-bites
i think the average monger has about as much chance of being bitten by a snake in bkk as being mugged by a visiting martian.
Be careful what you pass on as truth, it could end up with someone dying.
No black mambas here but a good variety of other nasties. I have always found that by leaving them alone they leave you alone. The vast majority of snake bites here are caused by people trying to kill them.
Sorry to ramble on but I think it’s important that people have the right information in this case.

The whole snake thing made me curious as to why they’d have snakes at a medical facility and did some quick research on the Queen Saovabha facility and it appears as though the institute is the second largest snake anti venom facility in the world and a leading research institute.

If I go there for my extra vaccines, I’ll definitely check out the snakes!
