Siam Man reacted to jolski in President Palace on Soi 11 (Updated 2015)
Since coming to Thailand the last 4 years I have always stayed at President Palace while in Bangkok. The rooms are of a good size and 1 can opt for the King Size Bed or 2 Queens. If on my own I generally book the standard room, if with a guest or the possibility of a guest staying a couple days then will opt for the Deluxe as these rooms contain a bathtub which seems to get well used by LBS. I would not bother with the club rooms, when I did, I never used the advantages which were on offer.

There are always options to book with or without breakfast. The Breakfast buffet is good. It has all the fixings to make a Full English, and has an egg station so you can have your eggs cooked fresh. It is also complimented with a number of Thai dishes which your guest may well appreciate.

If you are not up for such a big breakfast they now have a full Starbucks in the lobby as an alternative. Being on Soi 11 there are also many options around.

As far as having guests, I have never been charged extra. The security will register them and hold their ID until they leave. If you do not escort them to the door then Security will make a call to your room. 1 guest which I had, left on their own and she later told me that security was asking many questions, maybe a 1 off, but now I just escort them out, they collect their ID and no questions.

The pool is fine and gets a good few hours of sunshine if tanning is your thing. Other hotels do have roof top pools which offers more hours of sunlight.

The staff is very friendly and are always helpful. They do advertise airport cars, but I generally just ask them to get me a meterd taxi as it saves about 800 Baht. They have also organised a private car to Pattaya for me for 1200 Baht.

The restaurant is a Sports Bar which used to be ManU themed, there are still remnants of Man U but they have decorated to include other teams. Immediately across the road is the Australian Bar, so if AFL is your thing it is on your doorstep. Soi 11 for me is very convenient and has lots to offer.

I generally book through Agoda, however you should check their website direct as they often have many offers/options, depending if you like the extra options it maybe a better deal than Agoda.

Internet is free usually for 2 devices, sometimes if needed they will give a code for a third. The internet is fine for normal surfing and email. They offer a wide range of TV channels, but you may need to go to the Sports Bar for EPL matches as they are usually on specialty channels.

The rooms contain all the usual amenities, safes, robes, mini fridge and coffee/tea.

For me it is very good value for the money.

I just spent a week at the SM Grande Residence. Was quite a good price on Agoda. I checked the same dates on their website and that info came back as the dates weren't available.

The room was quite spacious. I think it was 34 sq meters. Small safe, average bathroom that was a bit dated. Nice big bed. Maid service adapted to my sleeping hours and came around 4:30 each day. It had a balcony, but only window access.

The desk people were pretty ordinary. The night I checked in there was no one even at the desk. I got the security guard to find her. He pointed that she was in the toilet. So I waited and then she showed up from somewhere else not the toilets? They were absent a couple of other times when I wanted to drop off my key before going out..

I called them before booking to make sure they were guest friendly. They didn't have a clue what I was talking about so it was a wasted long distance phone call. The best I got from them was to call back in three hours. So I took a little gamble and booked it anyway as the price was quite good at $45 AUD a night. I wrote on comments that I would be bringing guests home each night and let me know if that was a problem. They never responded.

Turned out it was indeed guest friendly. They have a gate out front with a security guard who collects and gives back their ID's. However they didn't call up to the room when they left alone, so I suppose one could leave you for dead if they wanted. Lot's of people actually live there so I could see where bringing in P4P gurls could be frowned upon, but it's Soi 4 location means they need to to compete with other hotels in the area that are also Guest friendly. It's not to far down Soi 4 and before the Ibis. Easy walks to Nana and Rajah hotel complex. You can also take their tuk tuk to Sukhumvit and Soi 4 intersection or to the Nana BTS station. The tuk tuk service doesn't run very late. I think stops at 6 or 7.

They have a pool on the 3rd floor which was pretty decent size. You have to use your room towels but you can exchange them for fresh ones after. They also have a fitness center which I didn't check out. A BKK Post is free for guests on the lobby counter.

I prefer Hanrahans - a real sausage and a good load of beans. But it's rather expensive compared to Bus Stop so I would say Bus Stop gives the best value for money. Don't think I will go back to Charlies for breakfast.

I wouldn't ask them like that, but if you bought them a few drinks which are quite pricey I'm sure they would join you out later. Although they appear very ladylike and aren't bargurls as such they are ladyboys who like to have fun. They stuck around after their appearance Paradise Club and partied hard. At least two were very willing to go home with me. I took the Birthday gurl Peche. It was supposed to be LT but turned into ST.

I've went three times with a date. The last time they asked me if I had single friends. So they are ready to have some fun outside of work. I'm sure they will be up for some fun tonight as they will be appearing at Paradise Club's NYE Party tonight.

One of the things I miss the most when I'm in Thailand is a nice fresh Garden Salad. Can't find these except for higher end hotels usually. This last trip I was staying at Aspen Suites which had a kitchenette, so I decided to make some of my own meals. That's when I found a good salad bar in Foodland on Soi 5 sukhumvit. Everything was fresh and has a good selection. Tomatoes that are fully ripe seem to always be in shortage, but with this you can select your own, sliced or cherry style. They charge you by weight so you gill a bag and then weigh it. My experience is that it average 30 baht a bowl. Dressing was 15 baht a packet which was about two servings. I picked up some croutons also which lasted my whole stay.

It's a great option for me pending my hotel has dishware. I made some other simple things, but looking to take on some other meals next trip.

I also eat at Tae Lok Dee, which is the restaurant in the front of Foodland. I think a single garden salad there is 120 baht.

Breakfast is served on second floor. They make your choice of eggs/omelette on demand, toasted bread, tea and juice. Good if you wake up early feeling hungry and want a quick meal and then back to bed but otherwise I prefer the options outside.

Yes, it's Minnie but she is in the new bar at the night bazar now. Very slow at that bar area most nights the bars are pretty much empty.

I'm staying there right now. Good location, nice staff and totally guest friendly.

I'm in a deluxe room on second floor and have breakfast included but I would not recommended the breakfast option. Hot water OK, not from unit in the room. There is a small safe in the room but not big enough to fit a 13" laptop. 2000 thb/night according to hotel web site but I think it was a little bit cheaper when I made the reservation through Agoda around first week of december.

Na Thapae http://www.nathapae.com/ I actually booked through Agoda which was cheaper than the Na Thape website.

I found out about this hotel when I stayed next door at P21. It's a bit older I think and it's cheaper. Na thapae is classified as a Boutique hotel. It doesn't have the free mini bar like P21. The location is just behind Raming lodge which is located in between the Thapae gate and Loh Kroh Road which is where the nightlife is. It's tucked away so it's actually pretty quite and no real traffic to speak of except for slow travelling vehicles down the winding road. They have ground floor rooms unlike P21 which is what I requested and got to eliminate stair climbs. The reception is only open from 7 until midnight so if you have late arrival or early departure you need to let them know ahead of time.

The reception ladies are very nice and accommodating. One of them I think is Indian whose English is excellent. No breakfast option, but is so close to some really inexpensive and good places to eat anytime of day. I rented a motorbike which you can park out front. There are two security guards who hang around out front during the evenings. One is P21 and the other is for Na Thapae.

The biggest drawback for me was the hot water unit on the wall. Those things never get warm enough or keep warm enough for me. Could have been worse if it was cold. Their is also no safe in the room. There is lock boxes up front. I paid 1200 baht a night. I think P21 was about 1500 a night for this same time. I really like this location, so either hotel would do for me. there is a small laundry just two doors down from Na Thapae. A little old Thai lady runs it and it's only 30 baht a kilo which means you can travel very light. I would take her something each day and pick up the previous day. I went back to BKK with everything clean.

I booked three nights here in March and since I have only seen recomendations for this place I thought I would write up my stay so you could check it out.

    Pros
    wifi in room
    see in bathroom
    pool
    excellent sized room
    in room safe
    big shower
    desk takes guests id
tuk tuk service to nana station

    Cons
    location

I booked it off of agoda while I was in Pattaya. The only problem I had was when I showed up they wanted the voucher which I need access to a pc with a printer. I tried explaining that I would need the pc in the lobby to get them the voucher but they poked around their computer and found the reservation so didn't need it. They greet you with a glass of juice for you while you are checking in I could have used a rag to wipe the sweat down but a good welcome just the same. I had booked for three nights on agoda and got a deal on it so not sure what the rates normally are on this room maybe the same maybe higher never really checked prices on this one before so not sure. It came out to around $137 which was $40 cheaper than I payed for Heaven@4 a week earlier. I think this is a better hotel overall but the location is the one negative which might keep me away from it. It is quite a ways down soi 4 actually you get down to Worburi and take the side street next to it down to the end and find yourself at Boss Suites. I have a few photos of the area if anyone wants a little clarification on that. It isn't to far for me to walk and I took a girl from nana two nights in a row and walked her down there with no complaints but I can see you getting some over it. I just thought it was to close to get a taxi or motorcycle taxi down there but if you want to be nice to the girl I suppose you can. I never really checked into the tuk tuk but I suppose you should be able to ring them and get a pick up but I would rather do the walk myself. I had to laugh as every time I left the hotel i got the taxi proposition from the guys in front of the worburi. I would never take a taxi that sits in front of a place as they like to jack you up on the price and even way down here you have taxis driving by you so its not a problem to get a metered one. That's about all I can think of right now so here are some pics for you.

Just noticed I never did come back on this thread. Can confirm this hotel was certainly ladyboy friendly when I was there- had a great bathroom with jacuzzi too at a decent rate in the room I stayed. Absolutely full of japanese though with massage joints catering to them literally outside the reception, but a handy walking distance to Darkside bar...
For any people who are not fully mobile though, some pretty steep steps and no lift to get up to reception level- lugging a case up in 30 degree+ heat was not so fun.

Free drink at the show. I advise to go early if you want to maximize the free grog. Early Bird show begins at 9:30 and still costs 888 baht. The show moves quickly and seems to be a little shorter. I hung around after talking with the gurls. I only bought Meoaw a drink but tipped the others 100 baht each which they were happy with. Japanese owner was away so they would rather have the cash than drink revenue for the bar.

OTS is our specialist, but I don't think either of us value a pool or gym that much. I try to move around to check out other properties. Most recently I stayed on Soi 2 at Aspen suites which has a small pool but not much privacy. They have a shuttle that takes you to Sukhumvit. Aspen is good for longer stays with a kitchenette and big refrigerator.

I also also stayed next door at the i Check Inn Ploenchit. I liked the room there better than i Check Inn on Soi 7/1. I find that hotel to be the best value for location if your a CIB regular. Maxim Inn has raised in price over the last two years. It used to be in the 30 AUD a night range and now the same room is in the 40 AUD range.

As for pools and gyms I guess you would have to look to pay more and stay at JW Marriot which is ladyboy friendly. Great reviews in this section on it. If you can deal with being further away on Soi 11 Lefenix is around 45 to 50 AUD and has a gym and a pool.

My visit was in August this year. I never had two overnight, but certainly had a few well within 12 hours. The two from Cascades was a (very good) ST but they were probably only in the room an hour or less. A couple of times a CIB girl didn't leave till about 4pm in the afternoon (after an LT) and I would have a prearranged meet with another one in the evening, say 9pm after a sleep and a shower. The hotel never charged, but my pattern was not exactly the same as yours.

But from the Phachara Suites email:

Thanks for emailing them, but unfortunately, unless I am reading it wrong, this seems to say nothing about this being limited to concurrent visits only, so it sounds like you could be charged for having two girls during the night regardless of whether they are in your room separately or together. Also unclear is whether this charge is affected by the length of the stay by the girl, whether it is ST/LT.

One day after a day trip the ladyboy I was with came up to my room simply to collect her bag and stuff from the LT the night before, even though she was only in my room a few minutes, would this have counted as a visit within 12hrs?

As I say, I personally never got charged but it would be worth hearing if this ends up hitting anyone else.

This got my attention because that was exactly my strategy in January. Every night I would take one LB out of Nana for short time, and then bring another girl back to stay overnight. One day I even took a GG beer bar waitress in the afternoon, and then had 2 seperate LB episodes that night. They never said boo about any of this, and did not charge me a single Baht for it.

    I emailed them yesterday.

Me: Can you tell me what the room guest policy is? I have heard that Phachara now only allows only 1 guest to be brought into room every 12 hours. Is this true?

Phachara: Warm greeting from Phachara Suites Hotel. Thank you for your email and many kind to stay with Phachara Suites Hotel.
Please be infirmed (sp) you that you can bring your joiner or guest to your room free of charge for the first person per night and the second person we will charge 1,000 THB Nett per night as well. We looking for welcome back and see you soon.

I take this to mean that the only charge will be if I have 2 girls stay overnight, and not 2 girls within a 12 hour period. In December, I will report back exactly what the policy is after finding out first hand.

Another hotel off the beaten path, but fairly close to Patpong. 10 minute walk maybe.

Two nights for 110USD. I booked through Agoda and this rate was not available on a single night booking. This hotel is a bit dated I suppose but still very nice. Glassed in bathrooms with shades. This bath had both a normal shower head and an over the head straight down spout. I had one LB visitor here 1.5 years ago. Max / Nikki from CL. (no one this trip) and I met her outside and walked in with her. No problems with staff. The floor plan allows you to go up the elevators without passing the front desk. Though sometimes the elevators require your room key to operate the elevator.

Small rooftop bar and pool on the 20th floor. Excellent restaurant and a free breakfast buffet. WiFi is excellent this trip, last trip it was horrible.
