  3. Not the cheapest indeed but food is excellent and no farangs on udom suk. So price is based on Thai middle class Verstuurd vanaf mijn SM-S901B met Tapatalk
  4. Ah! Thank you for the trouble. There’s one at the central embassy. good reviews too, although prices appear to be higher than average. I certainly would like to try that one out. thank you again.
  5. It is called Somboon and si ce 1969 not 67 Verstuurd vanaf mijn SM-S901B met Tapatalk

  7. you forgot the name? That’s nice. any chance it could be ‘Authentic Thai food & curry‘ (it may be a poor translation from Thai) restaurant?
  8. It is one of the best There is another very good one on udom suk Forgot the name but it is there since 1967 Verstuurd vanaf mijn SM-S901B met Tapatalk
  9. You should. It is a worthwhile wait. the other consideration is to try and get their Line contact. It is readily available on their social media posts. I started bugging them for reservations 2 months before I left for Bangkok and they finally gave in. before this it was usually ordering through Grabfood. dan
  10. Thanks for this review. I walked there from Elkamai BTS once, but the queue was so long I didn’t bother waiting. Will have to try again some time as it has great reviews.
  11. Herehai is a small restaurant, about 25 minutes from Thong Lor BTS station. The food and service was excellent. We had the crab omelette, tom yum prawns, mantis shrimp, and the crab fried rice. Each dish was a feast for the senses. If I return, I would order the same dishes. Service was excellent without being intrusive. Best of all was that the total came to only 2000B, which is inexpensive. The only issue is the wait times as the restaurant is very small so the lines are long. but if you love Thai food this is really a must visit. This is on par with Jay Fai. Dan
  12. Maitria is close to both the MRT & BTS stations, roughly 650m, so this is always a good thing and it is something I always lookout for. The walk to trains is comfortable and fast. I have been with Adelphi Grande for the past 7 years (roughly 2 visits a year) and have been comfortable with them. Unfortunately, staff turnover is very high so that’s a negative. Before that it was Parchara Suites on soi 6 (now Parkroyal). The people at Maitria are good. Well most of them. Housekeeping is spot on, and this is very high on my list. I never fail to see housekeeping, already cleaning rooms when I leave at 930am. Breakfast was a little sparse (although coffee was good), but I guess that is to be expected at this price point. There is a small laundrette in the basement, which is a useful feature to have. The room layout is awkward, and furniture placement makes it very difficult to move around and be comfortable. So this was a negative for me. Not something I’d care to repeat. The bed was spectacular, one of the better features in the room but I just wished the WiFi connection was better. I booked the studio grand deluxe, 2,600B nett per day, with breakfast. I had planned. 2 week stay with them but I came down with Bronchitis while on a food binge in Yaowarat on the 2nd day. Doctors on the 3rd day, and I got a flight back home on the 4th day. All my plans, down the drain!!! Ah! Well. Dan

    DOXY pep & PrEP together?

Yes, I read the same things about both. Doxy seems to have more possible side effects and says no alcohol when taking Doxy. I am no big drinker but do like a drink or three at the weekends. Now while alcohol can effect any medication Doxy seems to have a few I don't like the sound of. When I get to my Dean St appointment I will ask their advice.

    DOXY pep & PrEP together?

@Knobby Amoxicillin is not bacteriostatic (but doxycycline is). Doxycycline prevents the growth of the bacteria. Amoxicillin just kills bacteria directly, which could work if you actually came down with a case of an STD, but it would not be effective as a prophylaxis, which is what DoxyPEP is. And don't worry about finding doxycycline easily; it is in any pharmacy in Thailand and it's incredibly inexpensive.

    DOXY pep & PrEP together?

I was doing some quick research on Doxy and looking at the possible side effects. Seems to me amoxicillin would do a decent job on its own and it's easier to get in nearly any pharmacy in Thailand. I do have an appointment at Dean St clinic in London before my next trip so while getting my usual tests done and PrEP I will see what they say about this.

    Grand Hyatt Erawan

@Unavowed Nice one! Thanks for sharing your thoughts in Grand Hyatt. I used to stay there (been maybe 5 years since last time). It is definitely a Grand hotel and only 1 stop on the BTS down to Nana so not too far from the action.
  19. Many thanks! Yes - I have clearly felt that.
  20. Welcome on board! The forum is a great resource for almost all aspects of our 'niche' interest. The BMs are also generally very helpful, so there is no need to ever feel reticent about anything. Enjoy! SAG

    Jessy Oral Jelly

So I was browsing Lazada for Kamagra and came across a dietary supplement called Jessy Jelly. I translated the page and apparently it seems to be able to help with erections and performance in bed, ect. I tried to google it for more information but couldn't find anything. Google just shows more links to Lazada, Shopee, and other website to buy the product. But I couldn't find any official website on it, or any website at all that talks about it. I want to know if it's an authentic medically approved supplement, or just something fake that cannot be trusted. Has anybody ever tried it or know anything about it? I'll link the Lazada page below. Grand Hyatt Erawan

Just a follow up on this topic. I stayed here for 6 nights in March. One of the best hotels I have stayed in. Service was top class, as in genuine 5 Star hotel responsiveness and attention to detail you would expect in a European 5 star hotel. Rooms were great, big and good layout and facilities excellent. Quality gym and really nice pool area. The basement has a very nice wine bar, bakery and mid range Thai restaurant too. The Gaysorn Centre and Central world are across the road and Chit Lon station a few minutes away. As you would expect it’s not cheap, but a good option if you want a place to hang out and relax in comfort for a few days. I didn’t bring anyone back, but it wouldn’t have been any issue if I had. I would definitely stay again but would be looking at off-season rates. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    DOXY pep & PrEP together?

My understanding is that there is no problem taking them together (I have been prescribed both for use together later in the year on my intended Thailand trip). I believe that PREP can be taken ongoing but DoxyPEP is an antibiotic intended to be taken either after an exposure or at half dose for a max period of 28 days - so in my case I will take DoxyPep daily during my 2-3 weeks trip. One aspect of DoxyPep that I was advised about and quite relevant to Thailand is that when taking it the user is at a significantly higher risk to get sun burnt and as such hats/shade and sunscreen become more important.

    DOXY pep & PrEP together?

I go to MedConsult clinic on soi 49 for all my medical requirements (vaccinations, medicine, tests) as they have farang doctors, are cheap and have a great reputation. Just by coincidence, I received this email from them recently, which you may find to be of interest: View in browser The Pre-Songkran holiday sexual health series Have you heard of DOXY pep? Hey there! With the holiday season around the corner, it's time to talk about something super important: sexual health! Yep, that's right, because let's face it, holiday times can sometimes bring unexpected adventures, and it's crucial to keep your sexual health in check while you're out there having fun. First off, let's talk about safety. Whether you're with a longtime partner or meeting someone new, make sure to practice safe sex. That means using condoms or other barrier methods to protect against STIs and unintended pregnancies. It's like wearing a seatbelt for your sexual health – just a smart move all around. Doxycycline as PEP primarily focuses on its effectiveness in preventing sexually transmitted infections (STIs), particularly chlamydia and gonorrhea, rather than HIV. Studies have shown that daily or intermittent use of doxycycline can reduce the risk of acquiring these bacterial STIs among individuals at high risk. The guidelines state that a single 200mg dose of oral doxycycline taken within 72 hours after oral, anal or vaginal sex. Prevention of HIV Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP): PrEP involves taking a daily medication (usually a combination of tenofovir and emtricitabine) to reduce the risk of acquiring HIV through sexual contact. PrEP has been shown to be highly effective when taken consistently, offering an additional layer of protection for individuals at high risk of HIV infection. PrEP on Demand" is a dosing strategy for pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) that involves taking medication around the time of sexual activity, rather than on a daily basis. This approach is based on clinical research showing that PrEP can be highly effective when taken as needed, particularly for individuals who engage in infrequent or episodic sexual activity. Taking PrEP pills only when you are at risk for getting HIV is known as “on-demand” PrEP. It is also known as “intermittent,” “non-daily,” “event-driven,” or “off-label” PrEP use. The type of “on-demand” PrEP that has been studied is the “2-1-1” schedule. This means taking 2 pills 2-24 hours before sex, 1 pill 24 hours after the first dose, and 1 pill 24 hours after the second dose.
