movenpick soi 15 - guest friendly??

I sometimes feel it is like Groundhog Day...

"Can I take a LB to my hotel on Soi 4?"

"How much is ST/LT/BF/LD?"

"Where are the LB bars?"

Rinse and repeat...

SAG

I've got a business idea, looking for investors:

How about we open up a hotel in the middle of one of the world's biggest red light districts and LB capital of the world? Our unique selling point would be that we won't cater to the main reasons guests go there and will also break Thailand's anti-discrimination laws for good measure.

If you are interested in investing please let me know as I also have a few bridges for sale.

can anyone confirm if movenpick is guest friendly to LB dates?

It surely is LB friendly, but if you need peace of mind, all you have to do is email them. Have it read exactly like this:

"Hello-

Can you tell me what your guest policy is? Can my ladyboy friend stay overnight?

Thanks,

XXXX XXXX"

Be sure to mention your guest will be a ladyboy. Chances are you will receive positive reply.

Like Genghis said, book your room for 2 guests (this won't cost any more than booking for 1 guest).

Btw @waterplay my response wasn't intended to be harsh or to flame you so hopefully you don't read it as such. Instead I was just hoping to help you feel confident when going about the business of mongering in Thailand as the things we enjoy doing there are routine everyday behaviour and nobody judges you for that.

the reason I ask is that I have stayed at 4 star hotels before and booked for 2 guests and was still charged a joiner fee.  presumably to discourage "that type of clientele".

my go to for years has been dynasty grand, but now with renovations, no room service and soi 6 being devoid of convenience stores, massage shops combined with  nana's reduced ladyboy bar presence, it was time to cross the road and try experience a western chain in the heart of BM territory.

obsession's 1000 bhat bar fine, aggressive lady drink tactics and girls glued to their phones have moved me away from NEP and more to Cindy's, CIB, thermae, Grindr and field - hence the interest in Soi's 11, 13, 15 which I have never patronised before - especially any western chains.

I've never stayed in that particular hotel before, but any of the ALL Accor brands I've stayed at haven't charged me a joiner fee.  I'd fire off a quick email like @oliver17 suggested just to make sure.

Booking for two (at least with the major chains) doesn't mean what a lot of people think it does anymore.  Bringing a girl back with you after a night out is a guest and not the second person on your reservation.

Book for 1, 2 or 3 or whatever and if their guest policy is to charge a joiners fee for overnight guests then you will have to pay that regardless.  The only way around that is if you check in your date. (Not the girl leaving her ID at a security desk...but actually checking her in just like you did when you arrived).

I usually book for 2 people when it doesn't cost extra...just a habit I guess.   Even with a reservation for 2 sometimes I get charged when my girl from the night before joins me for the free breakfast.  Technically I could always be charged, but about half the time I don't.

I only check my friend in when she is actually staying with me for the entire duration of my reservation.  Some hotels I have stayed at do not allow guests to use the facilities...(gym, swimming pool, etc.), but if she is checked in then there's no problem.  You need an extra layer of trust with that girl to do this of course.

Have fun!

I stayed at the Movenpick once because Gina recommended it. It is LB friendly but was no big whoop of a hotel and expensive for what it is. Never going back. Better options out there.

You may want to take a look at Radisson on Soi 13 or Solitaire on Soi 11. I have stayed at both of them in the past. Both are LB friendly with no guest fees. They both have all the bells and whistles of typical 4 star hotels. Radisson has a great pool on the roof along with a very solid Indian restaurant downstairs. Solitaire has gigantic beds, wider than king-size that can easily accommodate 3 LBs and yourself. Solitaire is about a two minute walk from Cindy's bar.

The only downside to these places is the long hike down 11 or 13 to Sukhumvit. Taking a moto taxi or a tuk-tuk is sometimes pointless because Soi 11 is often gridlocked at night with traffic. 13 is better, but it still takes time to get down the street. During daytime, traffic is a lot lighter however.

thank you very much for the considered recommendations.  finding a new hotel after years of using the one favourite has proven more work than I ever considered.

a decent swimming pool is a key consideration as well as getting some afternoon sun to wash off this winter lack of sun.

I have faced this problem so I checked her in and then informed them the next day she is checking out while I am staying. Two nights later I checked another in and checked her out the next morning. Since the booking was for two people they accepted it and the third time they just waived off. This was not Movenpick in bkk but another hotel.
