kdfan 146 #1 Posted April 25 I never have gotten a SIM card in Thailand. I plan on getting a 15 day card. My question is when you get a card, does it include a local phone number? Thanks
Danum99 576 #2 Posted April 25 Yes it does. there are a number of shops just as you exit suvarnabhumi airport and they have tourist packages.

John Thomas 84 #4 Posted April 26 Why not buy an E-Sim? If you have a newer phone you can buy these online. DTAC do a 15 day unlimited data, texts and local calls for $19.95 USD https://www.dtac.co.th/en/prepaid/products/tourist-sim.html Airalo have an app which you can buy the E Sim or online in the website. https://www.airalo.com/thailand-esim Read this review site also https://www.traveltomtom.net/destinations/asia/thailand/best-esim-cards-for-thailand

vevey2021 234 #8 Posted April 28 Dtac has been good for me and you can keep the number alive for one year for 30 baht even if you don't use it or top up. Once you come back, you just add another 8-15 days unlimited package or whatever. So you keep the same number always. 1 John Thomas reacted to this
kdfan 146 #9 Posted May 9 What is the cost for 15 day tourist sim? Since I arrive on Sunday, I have just enough cash to get to hotel plus a few bucks. Have to wait until Monday to hit up vasu
GeordieG 505 #10 Posted May 9 You could try an esim, I've used airalo twice. https://www.airalo.com/thailand-esim/dtac-thailand-unlimited $20US. Pre-installed before I fly and switch the settings over to disable data on my primary sim before i put my phone in flight mode. (Just read the earlier posts, can see it won't work for you with a locked phone) 1 John Thomas reacted to this
Gambino 341 #11 Posted May 10 I've posted on this topic before, and will share it here as well. If you go directly the AIS flagship store in EmQuartier Mall, you can get deals that are not advertised anywhere. My pre-paid plan is $4 US (150 baht) for 30 days. That includes 5GB of 5g data. If I go over 5GB (very unlikely), it's then free unlimited data at 3g speeds. Your choice of either a SIM Card or E-sim. I have had the same Thai phone number for over a year, just by topping this up every time I'm here for a visit. 1 2 george1515, CanadaVisitor and BangkokBacchanalian reacted to this
Danum99 576 #12 Posted May 10 This is cheaper than the Tourist plan at the airports. What about calls buddy?

Actual phone calls (who does that anymore????) are 1 baht per minute, extra charge on top of the 150 baht plan. But I never make phone calls using the Thai phone number. I have had the same Thai phone number for over a year, just by topping this up every time I'm here for a visit. I’m with @Gambino on this … +1 for AIS. I got my prepay AIS SIM at Terminal 21 back at the start of 2020 when I was on a two month stay. I told them my situation, foreigner but staying more than 30 days and they gave me something called “The One SIM”. Can’t remember how much it cost at the time, I think it may even have been free subject to loading some cash on it, but almost 5 years later it still works and I still have the same Thai number to use (despite my flying back and forward to Europe). I don’t know how their algo works, but top ups for me have fallen to 30 baht for 10GB full speed 5G for 7 days, and that’s what I buy on a rolling basis. Far cheaper than a the major eSIM providers as far as I can tell, and my AIS roaming costs for using in other parts of Asia are also low at 450 baht for 8GB for 10 days. Local SIM cards are a massive no brainer. Edited November 22 by BangkokBacchanalian 1 Gambino reacted to this
