Just had confirmation back from Nam's, bargain, especially compared to the now even higher AOT prices: The price is 1200 bath all tolls included with sedan L. Driver will waiting for you at Meeting point near the Exit 3 (level 2) Please look for her with your name on a card. We will get back to you on the day evening with name of your driver and her picture.

Thanks @jaredblanc, I'll see how I get on with Nam's but they will be my next port of call. A safe and comfortable drive is a much higher priority having experienced wild driving on Thai highways.

Waiting to hear back from them @Unavowed, the rate is v reasonable on the website. I'll report how I get on if I book with them.

Cheers @Denbosch1971, I've actually used them before and might again to head back to Sukhumvit from Pattaya. However I had a poor driver experience with them once where he was driving like he was in Mario Cart and I'd prefer a more comfortable 2hr ride after just landing! Aot have always been very professional and Nam's have a reputation for careful driving.

I was looking at pre-booking AOT for my transfer to Pattaya on arrival and was suprised to see the price being quoted in excess of B3000. I've used them once previously to get to Pattaya and I don't remember it being over B2000. I thought I'd check to see if anyone else had noticed price increases with AOT, as to be honest both the app and website are terrible for booking and I wondered if it could be throwing me an unusual price. I sent an enquiry to Nam's taxi who have a much more reasonable rate and have lots of fans on the Pattaya forum, but I normally like the convenience of AOT. Not at that price though! Edit: just checked, I paid B2280 in October!

The owner of I'm Aroi is the same as Charm Thai restaurant (https://maps.app.goo.gl/a34EF7dsLgGUQ2kc6) which shares the same open fronted unit as Cat bar (also same owner) on Soi 7/1. I didn't eat there but it looked similar in style to I'm Aroi so worth considering for reasonably priced thai grub while oggling the Cat bar ladyboys.

You could try an esim, I've used airalo twice. https://www.airalo.com/thailand-esim/dtac-thailand-unlimited $20US. Pre-installed before I fly and switch the settings over to disable data on my primary sim before i put my phone in flight mode. (Just read the earlier posts, can see it won't work for you with a locked phone)
