If you want a great Thai meal, just ask your LB to take you to her favorite place.
2 of my LB friends from Cascade took me for a late dinner after work, it was a street vendor /restaurant on Suk opposite Guess2, excellent meals & so cheap too!

I was originally booked into the JW for this trip, but about 3 weeks ago I received a marketing email from Accor announcing a fire sale with 40% discount on offer, downside was that it needed to be pre-paid. Out of interest I checked what they were offering and found quite a good deal for the Sofitel, so after some deliberation I decided to cancel my booking at the JW and bite the bullet in favour of a pre-paid room at the Sofitel.

It is my first stay at this hotel and to be honest I'm wondering why I haven't stayed here before. The place is much better than The Landmark or the JW, there are no loud groups of kids around and the location is near perfect. The pool area is good with sun in the afternoon, the restaurants are top notch and the coffee shop on the ground level serves fantastic coffee. There is no joiner fee and on the 2 occasions I've had a guest there was no need for them to leave ID at reception.

Pics below are of the 'Opera Suite'.

Living room which is quite spacious. Wifi is free and fast.

Bedroom with a very comfy king size bed. The place is totally noise free and the curtains black out any light. For a very light sleeper like myself there is no need for the usual earplugs.

Nice bath in the massive bathroom.

Large shower cubicle with rain shower. Water pressure is excellent.

Double sinks with plenty of amenities.

Pool area which is very relaxing with light music in the background.

Booked three nights through agoda (good deal) beginning of 10 night trip in May. Chose a one bedroom suite. Very roomy with kitchenette, decent tv, comfortable furniture. Bathroom was good with good pressure and hot water. A raised tile at the bathroom door can be an annoying trip hazard but you learn fast! The reason I got such a good deal was that the balcony was filled with an air conditioning unit so was useless. Recommended for a long stay if you get a balcony. Food ok. Staff excellent. No problem with lb's. Check in was slow (I expect this now and zone out) with a lot of paper shuffling and quizzical looks at folders. Warning - don't sit in the ludicrously uncomfortable chairs in front of the desk. Free computer in the lobby. Good location - close to the action but quiet. Decent laundry service - turn left at the front door and you'll find it in the small soi just past the bend in the road. Follow soi 6 up to Suk and you're at Nana bts.

I have been eating and drinking at this bar for so many years i forgot how many.

It's good if you are picky with your breakfast, as I don't eat eggs or mushrooms. They have a build you're own menu, so you can pick what you want for breakfast.

The steak & Kidney pie is massive. i aways stop here for Sunday lunch as well and the coffee is Bon Cafe so which I like. Last trip i had the Pork for Sunday lunch pic included plus two of the steak menu & Sunday lunch menu.

Also very good to watch sport. Though was in there when England got knocked out of the Worl Cup by Germany in 2010, but watched City beat Sunderland to win the Charity Shield in March 2014

I agree. I spend from 15 to 25 nights there, multiple visits. Some short ones, 2-3 days and some kong inescapable, up to 9 nights. Everytime I start as a new customer and never got a sort of upgrade or so. Staff at concierge, tho', do remember me well and so does security. But receptionists never make you feel like a real regular. Even if you come back 4 days after the previous stay.
Still I can live with that. Location is perfect, breakfast enjoyable and price is ok.
Bit of wild little Arab boys running through the rooms, sometime, as someone said,

Hope this will help those, who look for a GG and LB friendly hotel near Nana at a reasonable price.

I found Ever Rich inn at the corner of Soi 7, Sukhumvit. Its just on the main road. No separate hotel porch, so you have to walk a few steps towards Soi 5. The hotel is almost invisible from out side.

The king bed room costs 1500 bath including breakfast. They have WIFI and its free for kindbed room. For other rooms you have to pay for that. The owner is indian and the hotel staff are super friendly and helpful. Its a clean hotel.

They have a small safe in the room, but you can't put your Laptop in that. They hotel staff were very confident that nothing will be lost from the room.

The reason, I am posting this is, the hotel is at a Prime Location. Soi 7 Beer Garden is just next door. Nana is 3 minutes walk and Eden Club 2 minutes.

The street market is at the door step. Food courts are all nearby. What I like most is the late night food shops at the door step of the hotel. This is one of the main attraction for me in bkk. Lots of FL LB wait to be picked up at these places. Some of them are stunners too.

Here is the web of the hotel www.everrichinn.com

    Enjoy.

@ KLW i am not claiming to have "superior knowledge" of BKK street food or any other topics regarding BKK or LB's.
I am sharing my thoughts & experiences from my trip, just like everyone else.
Thats the whole point of this forum, encourage everyone to post what they have experienced in BKK , what they like/dislike etc
I respect what you & other BM's have to say & appreciate everyones perspective on all things LB & BKK.

If the budget allows, (3400 bht for a luxury executive room) Gullivers on Soi5 is great.

It is right next door to Gullivers bar, brand new and very elegant.

It is so convenient for NEP, Guess, Guess1 and 11 and the soi3-5 honeypots.

Staff are great, ALL visitors welcomed with a smile, and a "IS it ok for them to leave" call to your room when they check out.

Room service food is great and mini bar very reasonable. Thye even have condoms in the minibar, how cool is that? When I think of the number of times I have to run to 7/11 in the early hours. Magic.

A great full breakfast included and a nice pool.

I had an unexpected short stay in Bangkok in the middle of my recent holiday, so needed a place to drop my bags, so nothing too expensive was needed.

Tim at Thai Hotel Discounts sorted me out with Darjelling Hotel. He has a negotiated rate for 1220 baht per night, which includes breakfast.

    Positives:
Location - On the Suk Rd, so just a hop skip and a jump from the action
Price - For this money, it is difficult to beat given the Suk Rd location
Modern - nice and modern feel to the hotel
    No joiner fee

    Negatives:
Room size - Quite a small room, but fine if you are lone traveller with overnight guests
Swimming Pool - Dont be fooled by the website saying, "Swimming Pool". At best this is a large bath and its location in the hotel is just not somehwere you would use to chill out.

    Summary:
Ideal for budget accommodation without compromising on really far away location or old/tired decor.
Would I use this place again? Yes I would, but only if I couldn't get the usual discount deals with the bigger hotels that I usually stay at.
Make sure you take a copy of the map of where the hotel is along with their telephone number as it is hidden behind a big apartment block and is not obvious place to find.

Tim was his usual super-efficient self and I have yet to receive anything but fast/friendly service. I would always recommend giving him a try when looking for a hotel in Thailand. He is very honest and gives lots of information.

Here's a few pics I took for the forum as the availavble pics were quite limited when I tried to google the place.

    And now.......for the 'swimming pool'

I see a lot of questions on forums about this hotel - probably because it is part of a large worldwide chain - so I can give you a bit of a rundown.

    Negatives

    1. The rates are very high if you just walk in - I think 2550 baht was posted at the time I was there. You can definately get a better rate by booking in advance online - I think I paid 1250 baht. Same goes for the breakfast buffet where you can get a 40% discount by paying in advance, which you can do upon check-in.

    2. The rooms are on the small side if you are a single. This didn't bother me at all but it may be a concern for some of you.

    Positives

    1. Location. It is on Soi 4 and is close enough to the action to be within walking distance but far enough away to be quiet.

    2. New Hotel. Everything is new and in good repair. Rooms come with in-room safes, nice televisions with satelite hook-ups, and just look stylish.

    3. Guest-friendly! The staff are very professional in this reguard, taking the ID card for your guest, which is photocopied and returned upon departure.

    4. Ladyboy-recomended! When I mentioned to a freelance LB that I was staying here, she abandoned the idea of a short time room and wanted to go here instead. I can see why. The staff was courteous to both of us and if they thought there was something funny about me going with a LB, you would never have known it. Not even a smirk.

For me, this is the ideal hotel for a stay in Bangkok. It may not be for those who like more space or an upscale plae to stay but for my purposes, it is perfect.

    Hello Angelo!
If you are walking down Soi Nana, walk past Nana plaza 20 meters and you have a restaurant on your left hand side that have good prized western food, (im sorry that I can´t remember the name).
Also If you walk the other way and turn the corner and walk down Sukhumvith one block, you will find Landmark Hotel, they have a pub down stairs with great priced food as well as a good priced buffeé in their restaurant on the reception floor.
Walking further down Sukhumvit, you turn in to Soi 8, where you find a very good indian restaurant in the first block, a great European/American/ Asian restaurant in the bottom on the hotel on the right hand side on the third or forth block and crossing the streat, some really great food in the Stable lodge hotel.
If you instead cross Sukhumvith Road and walk down on the uneven numbered side you will find a great italian restaurant and an Irish-American one as well in the second block. A bit further down you have a Subway shop with great sandwishes on the corner of Soi 7/1, and on the second block from that another Italian restaurant.
Turning in on Soi 7/1 you have a hotel on the right hand side with a great barbeque on their porch, exelent prices and superb food.
