Air Travel during the New Normal

Thai Airways apparently intends to file for bankruptcy protection which would imply a restructuring of the flag carrier. Guess that process won't be "smooth as silk"... I don't know if bankruptcy protection in Thailand can be compared to Chapter 11 of Title 11 of the US Code for example.

I would get sicker witnessing that than I would by contracting Covid.

    BTS Skytrain Bangkok

Yeah I don't disagree, their mask use is about as good as their helmets- if they're worn at all they're loose or completely unstrapped so they'd fly off in a crash, or using bicycle helmets. For whatever reasons (heat, prior mask usage, less touchy-feely social interactions, pure luck) Thailand has escaped the huge death tolls faced by other countries so I'm not overly concerned. The face shields and gloves worn by a lot of customer service now is way overkill but whatever keeps them in the illusion of safety. I'm just glad they haven't put up plastic barriers inside PT like they've done in restaurants. Some of them are literally cling wrap on a couple of makeshift pipe frames, what's the point?

    BTS Skytrain Bangkok

Mask use is fucking hilarious, I watched a worker at Foodland take hers off to cough all over the vegetables in the produce section, then replace it, several times. Many people wear masks with their noses out, or just have it wrapped around their neck. Some taxi drivers are using masks that look like old oil rags, I had a driver today who was picking his nose and wiping it on the edge of the mask. Mainly farangs aren't wearing masks, I only do to not rile up the locals as a dirty farang spreading the Corona...

    BTS Skytrain Bangkok

I got a bus back from Chatcuhak Park during peak hours last week and they'd said "sod it" to the distancing and were just letting all the seats be used.

    BTS Skytrain Bangkok

What's equally as amusing is that they still enforce/follow the social distancing for seating- so you can't sit next to each other but standing in crammed as shown is fine. Unfortunately I can't see a feasible solution to this during peak time- there'd be lines onto the street if they enforced passenger limits and they barely have enough trains running as it is so they won't be increasing the number of services. Thankfully the number of (detected) cases has been single digits/zero for the past 1-2 weeks, and with wearing a mask necessary to ride the BTS/MRT and well over 90% of people wearing masks everywhere else, I would say it's not as big a concern compared to other countries with similar crowding issues.

    BTS Skytrain Bangkok

What's the point in social distancing on the platform while queueing, but once inside the train you're sardined with 200 other people...

    COVID-19 Health Issues

North East is really suffering mate....anyway, on a positive front the Germans are back playing and if that goes well we will be close behind! I presume vanarama have declared the league void? Still find it shocking seeing Notts county, Hartlepool, and Barnet at this level now. Better times will come back and so will the beautiful game!

    Embedded Facebook videos

On my mobiles, automatically embedded links fill the page, and load if I try to swipe pass them, so when there's a lot of videos auto-embedded, they all play and crash the browser. Manually embedded videos are a smaller screen footprint and allow space to swipe without touching the embedded video.

    Embedded Facebook videos

Instead of embedding a Facebook video manually, you can also let the forum software do the whole job. You just have to copy the video link address and paste it into the standard (WYSIWYG) editor here. To find the video address you can right click on the video, click on "display video URL", copy the video URL (video address) and paste it here. Hit enter and the forum software should do its magic... Depending on your browser, app, device and operating system this option to find the video URL may or may not work. If it doesn't work, you can try the following: Go to the desktop version of FB (either by using a PC or by removing the "m" in front of the website address in your mobile browser) and click on the three dots on the upper right hand corner of the post. This should open a menu with the option to copy the link. Do this and paste the link here in the forum editor, hit enter, and wait a second or two before the video shows up. Video embedding works best with high-speed internet connections, such as a good WIFI or at least 4G / LTE. If you are using slow network connections and / or older hardware with little RAM, these posts with embedded media might take a while to load... Example for automatically embedding a Facebook video: The latest CIB Facebook post is this video posted yesterday. On a PC you click on the post, click on the three dots and copy link. Paste this link into the editor here. The link should look like this: https://www.facebook.com/401617183283119/videos/698811364217069/ After the domain name, there's the FB account number, then the word "videos", and finally the video ID. If your link looks a lot different than the one above, then there's something wrong.. Perhaps you copied the web address / URL where the video was posted to instead of the specific address of the video... Again: If you paste this video link here and hit enter / return, the forum software will (should) automatically embed the video... The same principle (i.e., copying the media URL (video URL, audio URL, image URL/ address) can be applied to embed media from other social media sites, such as Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, LinkedIn, Giphy, Tenor, imgurl, Snapchat, Pinterest, twitch, Soundcloud, DeviantArt, Flickr, YouTube, Vimeo, Tumblr, and so on. I think it even works with VK and Whatsapp. I'm not so sure about Chinese sites such as Youku. Good luck! Automatically embedded: Manually embedded:

    Lohas Residences

I stayed there 2 years ago a few nights. I know that not exactly recent, but it probably hasn't changed much. It was LB friendly and the staff treated girls with respect. There were no guest fees. Note that they did not take LB IDs at the front desk. That may or may not matter to you. The hotel itself is well maintained with good service. The rooms are very similar to what you find at places like Phachara or Legacy Suites. An odd thing I remember is that their room phones looked like they were straight out of 1974. Big, clunky push button desk phones with flashing red bulbs but they hopefully updated those since then. They do have a large and good pool. It's located on Soi 2, but that soi gets very little auto traffic and has no restaurants or bars. For any of that or to get a taxi, you need to go out the back entrance to Soi 4. Good luck.

Has anyone stayed here recently? Is it guest/LB friendly? I found this while looking, hopefully it's incorrect/out of date as there's some really good deals at the moment.. Thank in advance.

Air Travel during the New Normal

there will never be a vaccine for covid19, any talk of a levy is just a con and thais are great at that, i could smell this shit arising , countries demanding medical insurance within reason will be the norm, cest la vie mongerers, lets get around this hurdle with as much aplomb and bs as we can muster, limit the damage whilst it is still being determined, create some disturbances to throw the pitiful generals into disarray, good luck, thai airways has been thrown a lifeline by the govt and it is up to us to take advantage of them, dont cop their exorbitant first offers, let them sweat and reduce the prices $700 return aud is ok, beware of dudes like skyscanner because u wont get a look in with refunds. singapore air will be a viable alternative for ozzies to LOS.

Air Travel during the New Normal

I came across this today in Bangkok Post. I know there has been concern about travel insurance perhaps refusing to cover health care costs associated to Covid, but it looks like LOS will pick up the tab in exchange for a 200 or 300 baht ticket tax fee. Things are slowly gearing up for a return of international travel. Now they need to focus on test-based alternatives to a 14 day quarantine on arrival... https://www.bangkokpost.com/business/1916332/tourism-levy-mulled

I am using chrome on a macbook pro, no idea what site version is but both videos below work fine.
  27. What device, site version, and browser type are you using? Desktop, mobile, iPad, Tapatalk...? Does this video appear correctly in the container here: Or perhaps this one: . The first one is using the post plug-in, the second one the video plug-in code generator. I'm only using the standard Facebook plug-ins: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins For pure video plug-ins this one: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/embedded-video-player/ For post plug-ins this one: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/embedded-posts/
