Agree on all of the above, the realisation is setting in that this will not return to "normal", any time soon. I have a trip to Bohol, pushed back to November and right now, I'm not confident that will actually go ahead, or even whether the hotel will still be open. I'm supposed to be going back to Australia for Christmas, but if I have to do two weeks in quarantine, then forget it. Lord knows if it would be a good idea to be around my mid-70's parents anyway.
Right now, I'm really missing those long-weekend jaunts down to BKK, that I could do at the drop of a hat. That's out the window now, for a very long time.

I don't think there is any possible way I can answer such a broad question. There is way too many good dishes to just pick one.
Noodles: Yellow egg noodles with crispy pork belly / thin rice noodles in blood soup with boiled beef
Rice: krapow with crispy pork belly topped with runny fried egg / Chinese kale with crispy pork belly and red chili + runny fried egg / omelet stuffed with minced pork
Curry: Love both Green and Red, and beef is a must, I'll only do pork or chicken if beef is not available
Seafood: fried seabass with Choo Chee sauce /  baby clams in curry sauce (hoi lai)
This is just to name a few...

Flights back to normal by Oct 2021, says AOT, note that's October next year
“If the Covid-19 situation is brought under control in countries worldwide, the economy in Thailand and other major countries will recover, while traffic volume will return to normal in October 2021,” he said.

I'm wondering how Covid-19 will change the way we travel to Bangkok?
Will we all be wearing face masks for the duration of the flight on board in the future?
How will the flight attendants' uniforms look like?

    Sri Lankan I think

Will pax also have to wear in-flight protective gear?
Will there be one aisle for going to the lavatory and another one for returning to the seat?
Instead of a welcome Champagne, will we get some sanitizer bottles?
    MAS

Will the cleaning of the aircraft take much longer than before Corona and will therefore the aircraft turnaround time be a lot higher?
Will we be greeted with an infrared thermometer gun when we board the plane?
Will the middle seats be blocked or even removed in all cabin classes?
Will airline food still be available? Only if it's prepackaged?
How much will a ticket cost in the future? More than before Corona? Or less because of the low oil / fuel prices?

A lot of valid concerns there, I suspect the way we travel will change for the foreseeable future- at the very least for the next 1-2 years while a vaccine is being developed and then distributed. Medical/fit-to-fly certificates being the first barrier before even getting onto the plane, and yeah all the measures you've mentioned being implemented in one way or another. Think each country/airline will probably have their own requirements/procedures.
Can't see it being very cheap to fly either- IIRC low oil prices in the past have had little effect on ticket prices anyway.

    Easy-peasy...
First step: Get the URL of the video.
Second step: to manually embed the video by using the video URL you need an iframe code. Either you know by heart how to write this little sniplet (takes less than a minute...) or you use one of the many free online iframe / embedding tools you find on the internet.
Once you've got the iframe code, you copy it and paste it into the HTML editor of this forum.
    And that's it!

    Some additional hints:
    1. To get the Twitter video URL you can for example use the share button in Twitter. Click on the share symbol (the one with the three dots on the right):

On different versions of Twitter (app, mobile, desktop...) the share button may be located in a bit different place...
Then click on "Copy link to tweet":

You should get the message "copied to clipboard"
Paste this link to a URL finder such as for example:
    https://igeturl.com/
    Click on "Get!"

Copy and add the URL (the blue one) to the iframe code generator of your choice, such as for example
    https://embediframegenerator.com/

    Click on "Generate"

    and then on "copy it".
    4. Then go to the HTML editor of your forum post by clicking on the "Source" tab (on the left):

and there you paste this iframe code:

On the desktop version of the forum you can also click on the HTML embed sign to enter / paste the iframe code.
Once you've pasted it in the HTML editor you click on the source tab again and you should see a preview of your post:

Then click on submit / save or edit. Done!
    5. I think the video will be embedded in a HTML 5 player. So if someone still has a browser that only manages HTML 4, he can't see the video and / or get an error message...
The full code including the 3 pixel red frame for the video above looks like this:
    <p>
        <iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="1" height="400px" marginheight="0px" marginwidth="0px" name="Faye Casanova" scrolling="yes" src="https://twitter.com/i/videos/1229634776291655681?embed_source=facebook" style="border:3px #ff1122 solid;" width="100%"></iframe>
    </p>
The simple code (that also works!!!) looks like this:
    <iframe  height="400px"  src="https://twitter.com/i/videos/1229634776291655681?embed_source=facebook"  width="320px"></iframe>
    I know: sounds complicated...

... and cumbersome, but once you've done it a few times it'll take less than a minute to do it...
    Easy peasy, lemon squeezy...

    Good luck!

The Help menu puts is clearly:

This board can notify you when a new reply is added to a topic. Many users find this useful to keep up to date on topics without the need to view the board to check for new messages.

There are three ways to subscribe to a topic:
Click the 'Options' menu at the top of a topic, and go to 'Track this topic'
On the posting screen when replying to or creating a topic, check the 'Enable email notification of replies?' checkbox.
From the 'Email Settings' section of your User CP (My Controls) check the 'Enable Email Notification by default?' option, this will automatically subscribe you to any topic that you make a reply to.
Please note that there are four different types of subscriptions:

    Immediate Email Notification
This option will send out a notification immediately after a new topic or reply has been made regardless of your activity.

    Delayed Emailed Notification
This option will send out a notification if a new topic or reply has been made and you're not active on the board.

    Daily Email Digest
This option will send out a daily digest showing all new replies or topics for that day.

    Weekly Email Digest
This option will send out a weekly digest showing all new replies or topics for that week.

You are also able to subscribe to each individual forum on the board, to be notified when a new topic is created in that particular forum. To enable this, click 'Forum Options' menu at the top forum you wish to subscribe to, and click the 'Subscribe to this forum' link.

yes, you can subscribe to a forum (or all of them), then under your preferences you can check a tickbox that offers to send you the forum posts in an email - have a dig around in your email settings under preferences, and you'll find it.

RR - PM one of the mods on the other forum. If they see the report was from yourself, they should be able to remove the warning (Moderator LULT is a mod on that forum too)

To pin a thread is to ensure that it always appears at the top of the list of threads for it's sub-section - even as it gets old (by default, threads are listed with those with most recent activity - posts - first). Pinning allows for a particularly god thread (usually with content that is frequently asked for) to be easily found.

Regarding trusted members, please refer to this thread here http://www.bangkokladyboys.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=2 (explains what a trusted member is, how to become one and what the benefits are)

Status such as advanced members etc is an indication of previous contribution by a board member (previous posts, pictures uploaded, trip reports etc)

The moderators job is to ensure that posted content is on-topic and adheres to the rules and ethos of the board. The moderators do have the ability to perform such tasks as - removing posts/threads, merging and splitting threads, editing content, changing member status, creating new forum sub-sections and many others

Not wanting to seem like a dumb shit I've wandered around the Forum trying to figure out what all the symbols and terms mean and how to use the Forum. I give up. I admit to being a dumb shit. So, what do all the symbols and decals and buttons mean and how do I manuver around and maximize my use and contributions in the Forum (I've noticed some topics are "pinned" - what's that mean)? What does it mean and how to become a trusted member, advanced member, moderator and other titles besides newbie?

I'm also a member of the LB Pat Forum. I was trying to figure things out and clicked on the little report triangle at the bottom left. Now I have a warning under my listing. Don't know if that did it or what it means.

There has to be someplace where all of this is explained. Can someone light the path for me?

    Thanks,

Thanks got a reaction from Desertsandman in Ibis Styles Nana Sukhumvit Soi 4 / 6
I've recently stayed at the Styles. Here's my personal, subjective review:
The Styles hotel is a relatively new  addition to the accommodation market in the lower Sukhumvit / Nana area. I think it opened in late 2017.
It's a nice three stars hotel. As it's located in the same building as the more upscale Novotel, you don't feel you've booked a cheap hotel. It rather feels you're staying in a standard room in a quality, upper middle class hotel.
Also, despite being located so close to the naughty nightlife scene, the majority of guests are "regular" people visiting the "normal" tourist attractions of Bangkok (Wat Po, Wat Arun... ). It doesn't give you the feeling of being in a "mongerer hotel" such as the Dynasty Grande or perhaps the Nana hotel also. Seems many guests came from places where smaller room sizes are more common than in the US for example, such as Japan and the European countries.
There's a free shuttle service from the hotel to BTS Nana that departs every 30 minutes from the front entrance. Though it's only a 7-8 minutes walk it can be useful when it rains (and it does so occasionally in Bangkok I've heard...) or during midday heat.
You can use the "inbalance" gym of the Novotel on the 7th floor. I didn't venture in so cannot comment any further. On the ground floor there's a lobby bar and the "food exchange", a good looking restaurant.
The standard room that I had booked looked spacious, at least bigger than the official 21 sq. m. it supposedly only had. It didn't feel small. When I'm in Bangkok I basically need a room only for sleeping and going to the bathroom, taking a shower etc. The rest of time I'm out and about. For this purpose the room was absolutely sufficient.
Everything you would need or want is there: bum gun, electronic safe, quiet a/c, queen size bed (upon request), mattress not too hard but also not too soft, hairdryer, liquid soap and shampoo. It also had a small fridge (empty). The big screen telly had a million channels or so (IP TV). You get daily two bottles of water for free. Everything worked except for two sockets (no power). But that was quickly fixed by hotel maintenance.
Once you get used to the characteristic, unusual style and decor of the room, it feels almost like home away from home.
    Its main advantages are:
    - Hard to beat location just 5 minutes on foot from NEP, the gravitational center of the ladyboy nightlife universe.
    - Great value IMO: price range depending on season, demand and day of the week: standard rooms (21 sq. m.) with queen size bed go for I think about 2000 - 2500 Baht, superior rooms (26sq. m.) for about 700 Baht more.
    - It is almost new: it shows almost no wear and tear (yet).
    - It has a fantastic infinity pool and an exciting rooftop bar that you "must" visit with an awesome view of "downtown" Bangkok
    - Wi-Fi worked without a problem in the room as well as in the rest of the hotel.
    - I didn't see any tour groups...
    - Breakfast was included in the room rate. Breakfast room in the "strEATS" restaurant on sixth floor is for Styles guests only (not for Novotel guests). It is open until 10:30 h. Food is good for a 3 star hotel. There's no egg station. But your stomach will get full, don't worry.
    - Girl friendliest as can be (can also be a disadvantage...). If you despise the walk of fun and shame, you can enter the hotel through the entrance of the (often empty) "food exchange" restaurant or through the carpark which is located on floors 2-5. That way you'll avoid walking right through the front desk areas (which however is also no problem at all). I personally prefer ST rooms anyway and take back girls to my hotel room only occasionally and only if I know her well enough and only for LT. So this aspect of the Styles was not so important to me personally...
    Disadvantages:
    - I didn't notice them proactively checking girls' IDs. If for security reasons you want to register your LB, you have to walk up to the front desk (there's one for the Styles and one for the Novotel) and have her registered. One night I saw a middle aged Japanese man trying to sneak in a girl, telling her to stay close behind him so that no one could see her. That was hilarious as I think no one, I repeat: no one, neither staff nor guests, could have cared less... You get two room key cards so you can give the extra one to your LB girlfriend...
    - The hotel appears to be in high demand, so might be sold out by the time you book...
    - As I had an early flight out of Bangkok, I went to bed earlier and until 3 o'clock in the morning could hear noise from the street...
    - The tears you will shed on the departure day when you have to leave this fine hotel...
You can book on the usual sites such as sexpedia, so sorry, Expedia, Agoda but also on the Accor site
I am a sucker for nice swimming pools. I don't want to visit the tourist sites and shopping malls so much anymore (ya know: been there, done that...). I'd rather now stay by a nice (!) pool and recover from the previous night's debaucheries and get some rest for the next wild night ahead. So that infinity pool was particularly important to me...
On previous trips I'd stayed at the Dynasty Grande (DG, a **** hotel) and the Citrus Suites Soi 6 (CS6, also a **** rated hotel), both just a minute away from the Styles. Both are fine but the DG's pool is cold and most of the time in the shade. The CS6 is much more modern but also more expensive than the DG as it has recently become more expensive than it used to be (I think) - and I don't like their pool...
I personally clearly now prefer the *** Styles when I want to stay in this area of Nana with it's excellent PVR and would not go back to any one of the other ones mentioned - unless the Styles was full.
Even though it's just a 3 star place it didn't feel like a downgrade from the two 4 star hotels mentioned, except for the room size.
BTW: This was not an attempt at writing an objective review. It was just my personal impression of the hotel that I wanted to convey... It's not even meant to be a recommendation, just a review. Okay?
    Thanks :-)
