I took daily PREP and DoxyPep on my three last trips and I eventually realized that the DoxyPep over multiple days fucked up my gut bacteria and I had borderline diarrhea and struggled to eat and digest food (nausea). To me PREP is a no brainier as it virtually eliminates the risk of a treatable but still incurable disease (AIDS), whereas DoxyPep reduces the risk of getting some curable bacterial infections - to me to side effects of DoxyPep outweighed the benefits, so next trip I will take the risk and keep a healthier gut and just take daily PREP. I may have some Doxy with me and take it in the event that I think I may have been exposed but hopefully i I sense something not right I will refrain from contact - that is so long as little Steve doesn't take over. -

Are there any pharmacies in bangkok that sell PrEP OTC? I already took a test several months after my last encounter and don't feel like having to either wait multiple hours in a clinic or pay Pulse's 3x upcharge with their testing+consultation fees. -
Ouch...talk about misinformed medical advice. First off, if a person (LB or whoever) is HIV+ and is regularly taking an approved ART drug, you are exceedingly unlikely to be able to be infected when having sex with them. If a person is on an approved PrEP drug, ditto. Second, use a condom, regardless. Not only are condoms quite effective against HIV, they are also quite effective against a long list of other sexually transmitted diseases that HIV drugs provide zero protection against, and some of those diseases are pretty nasty in their own right. And if you're using condoms you don't have to worry about the honesty of your partner. Third, no, people should not be on PrEP (not PReP, get the acronym right, dude!) no matter what. If you're using condoms it makes no sense. PrEP drugs are pretty potent and not suited for everyone. Those who might want to consider PrEP as an option are those who drink to excess or take party drugs when playing with the LBs, and might stupidly go bareback under those conditions. Or those who plan on rolling the dice and going bareback. -
Easy enough to get PrEP in Thailand. Times Square Sukhumvit Soi 12ish has a couple sexual health clinics Pulse clinic on second floor and Safe clinic on third floor. -

You should definitely be on PReP yourself if you go to thailand no matter what. Also some LB's lie about being on PReP and are actually just on the HIV medication that makes it undetectable and consider it the same thing.
