Very good question. I took it as a transfer between airports, very common in Bangkok. I would never call a taxi ride out of the airport a transfer though. If anything it would be a Hotel transfer.

Make sure you have time. I would want 3 hours minimum to do a transfer and domestic check-in. 4 hours would be better. What time are you landing in BKK?

Petit Salil Hotel. Decent, affordable place 50m from Cindy's. As a newbie, I would avoid TF for the first trip. Just walk into Cindy's and sample the buffet.
