crespy 5 #1 Posted March 12, 2013 I'm not a techie at all, but would it be at all possible to get a https connection to this site? I'm pretty paranoid about such things. In general, I try to keep a very low profile, so this would simply ease my mind that extra bit. 1 Thanks reacted to this
JackG 2 #2 Posted March 12, 2013 You might want to try a proxy. Here is one that is free: https://www.torproject.org/
Snick 56 #3 Posted March 13, 2013 You are better off getting a VPN, also choose a browser and ONLY use that for this site (like chrome) and set it to not record history, cookies, etc.. If you want to be uber paranoid, setup/rent a windows virtual machine somewhere (or linux, which is cheaper), then connect to that via remote desktop and do the actual browsing on the remote machine. If you use https someone monitoring your traffic will see the urls you hit, they just won't see the page content. Since the page is bangkokladyboy that's probably damning enough. using a proxy would probably have the same problem (depends exactly how the proxy is used)
crespy 5 #4 Posted March 13, 2013 ok thanks for the ideas. I use a VPN now, but sometimes the connection is so damn slow i clean my cookies, cache and history prior to and following each dodgy site i visit, so tend not to worry too much about the specific browser i use Will look into a virtual machine, if for no other reason than to learn more Had an unpleasant suprise when i went to use Chrome once. I have my main browser set up to block ads, etc, and so sometimes I can't access a site's full content without tweaking, so will use Chrome. So, at work one day, after struggling with a work-friendly site, I clicked on Chrome without realising that I had left it open from the previous night (hidden behind other windows) and up pops a ladyboy on thaifriendly. don't think anybody caught it Only so much these security measures can protect you (well, me), if you're that silly
jimmi_ripper 48 #5 Posted March 13, 2013 you can have several profiles on chrome which is handy for separating work, home life and mongering activities

MikeNH 34 #8 Posted April 6, 2013 I use SurfEasy - its a USB stick that creates a secure connection to SIN/USA/UK/Brazil. Its also surfing in protected mode so nothing remains on my PC and I have a clean browser history. 1 Thanks reacted to this
