    • My experience in Australia (Sydney) was also straighforward. I always get a check-up at a sexual health clinic after coming back from Thailand. They know what I get up to and there's no judgemement and they're always professional. They simply offered it to me and I was happy to accept. Two visits, two jabs and a bit of extra reassurance.
    • Following on from @oskol recent food post, i'm keen to hear about Pub food in Bangkok. I love a good pub feed. I do like some day drinking with a pub lunch. I will be back soon so looking to expand my horizons for pub food. Here are my favourites so far: Bully's Pub Sukhumvit Road near Soi 4 - I have eaten here many times. Great fish and chips, lasagne, chicken schnitty and their BBQ Pork ribs are insane. I had the half rack and they beat me, i couldn't finish them. There is also a very tidy MILF working there at lunch times The Clubhouse Soi 23 - they do a good English breakfast and their pies are very good. They are titled 'Aussie' meat pie - not quite an Aussie pie as you couldn't pick them up to eat but very nice flakey pastry. O'Leary's Irish Pub Soi 15 - excellent Bangers and Mash - i've only eaten there once but will be back to try the Steak and Guiness Pie. Old English - Thonglor - very good pies and Sunday roasts - cheapest pints in Bangkok! Paradise Sports Bar Soi 11 - I've eaten here a few times when I stay at Aloft - a very decent Pad Krapow and they got 79 Baht half pints during happy hour 4pm - 9pm - cheapest beers on Soi 11 and some excellent people watching along the Soi and across to Bunny Bar.
    • I’m planning to spend a few days just being a tourist and wandering around new areas during my December visit - assuming I can dial down my deviancy

And yes, having some Thai and being able to read is going to help in the out of the way places too.
    • That's disappointing news! It was a beautiful restaurant, elegant, with great views and better food. Local friends took me to dinner there several times.
    • Thanks very much for the detailed write-up @BangkokBacchanalian it really is much appreciated as this latest 'tropical nasty' could spread fast. A very interesting comment that you made got me thinking: "No NHS number required, and while the form asked for my regular doctor’s details, they confirmed to me they didn’t need it..." Based on this a wily non-resident visiting the UK for more than 4 weeks could also get it. I was confused by the vaccines name, as the name they tout here is JYNNEOS, so I googled it and lo and behold its the same vaccine as Imvanex, just a different brand name. Availability is still very limited in BKK, but it can be obtained at the Red Cross Hospital clinic for THB 2,200 per shot and 2 shots are required 28 days apart - so total cost = THB 4,400. By the sounds of it, it is a similar process at the Red Cross clinic, as it is at the NHS and they will probably be even more lenient as they are charging. Thanks once again for the information. Cheers SAG
