    • Thanks very much for the detailed write-up @BangkokBacchanalian it really is much appreciated as this latest 'tropical nasty' could spread fast. A very interesting comment that you made got me thinking: "No NHS number required, and while the form asked for my regular doctor’s details, they confirmed to me they didn’t need it..." Based on this a wily non-resident visiting the UK for more than 4 weeks could also get it. I was confused by the vaccines name, as the name they tout here is JYNNEOS, so I googled it and lo and behold its the same vaccine as Imvanex, just a different brand name. Availability is still very limited in BKK, but it can be obtained at the Red Cross Hospital clinic for THB 2,200 per shot and 2 shots are required 28 days apart - so total cost = THB 4,400. By the sounds of it, it is a similar process at the Red Cross clinic, as it is at the NHS and they will probably be even more lenient as they are charging. Thanks once again for the information. Cheers SAG
    • I think it is a great thread to establish. We need to know our risks and make informed decisions about what we do, how we do it and who we do it with. I too have the MPOX vaccine, PReP and Hep vax. looking into the gonorrhoea vax, latest research has shown some sobering results for those of us who play in high risk populations. I've attached the latest findings published in the British Medical Journal from July 2026.  for those who are in or play in high risk populations, this Vax has no benefit. have a read and make up your own mind.
    • @SAGuysorry if I was unclear in my post above and got your hopes up … I had my mpox & gonorrhoea jabs back in the UK, have just posted in a new thread on how I did that and how easy it was, to hopefully assist other BMs. Appreciate that’s probably not much use to you. I don’t have a place for getting the mpox vaccine in BKK - and in fact when I emailed Pulse asking about it when mpox first flared up, they just ignored me, they didn’t even respond. NB like @prebss I was told a month between Bexsero doses (and that’s how they gave me mine) so you might want to DYOR on your dosing schedule recommended by medconsult.
    • I have been reading that Mpox is circulating again in BKK, and I’m sure a lot BMs here are also on the Pattaya board where there is already an Mpox/vaccine thread - but there doesn’t seem to be one here - so I thought I’d kick one off here with my experiences of how easy it is to get vaccinated these days in the West - my own route being particularly relevant to BMs from the UK. When I’m in LOS I’m actually with a longterm LB gf these days, so I think (…or at least I hope…) I am not really at risk - but not everything in life is guaranteed to last forever, and it seemed like a no brainer to get free “insurance” in my arm while it was available. So, inspired by the Pattaya board thread re how straighforward it is in the UK, I got myself jabbed for both Mpox (Imvanex) and Gonorrhoea (Bexsero) over the last month or so. As I understand it, they believe Imvanex gives an 80-85% protection against Mpox and Bexsero (originally a meningitis vaccine) up to 40% protection against Gonorrhoea.    To the extent it helps others, the way it worked for me in the UK was as follows :   I phoned my local NHS sexual health clinic - and I didn’t mention LBs but instead said I was Bi and travelling to BKK for a few weeks which I believed to be high risk for Mpox, and asked if I could come in to be assessed for a jab - and that got me an appointment the next day.   At the clinic front desk they asked me to fill in a scrappy piece of paper with name, address, mobile phone number, DOB. No NHS number required, and while the form asked for my regular doctor’s details, they confirmed to me they didn’t need it, and that they don’t share details between the clinic and the wider NHS, so I didn’t fill it in.    Into the room with the nurse, discussion of sex life, I did embellish what I’d been up to thinking I needed to make sure they saw me as high enough risk to be worth jabbing (see below). Imvanex in one arm and Bexsero in the other, and out the door with a booking already made for the 2nd jabs in 4 weeks all in less than 30 minutes. NB they also offered me HPV and Hep vaccines but I’d already done those years ago. When I returned last week for my pre-booked jab #2, it was all even easier, in and out in 5-10 minutes or so. I didn’t experience any fever etc following any of the jabs - but the Bexsero was fairly physically painful for several days after injection… you don’t want to have it on the side you sleep on.   Some info I want to share specifically for other UK BMs’ benefit, namely the NHS criteria for vaccinating you :   When the nurse asked me how many partners I’d had in the last 3 months, I said something like “hmmm, I’m not sure, maybe 3 or 4 ?”. She then turned her computer screen so I could see it and suggested I might like to read it. She’d opened her screen on the NHS “minimum criteria” for the Gonorrhoea vaccine, which were, at least for my clinic : (1) men who sleep with men; plus (2) 5+ partners in the last 3 months. After I’d read it she asked me if I could remember any more encounters in the last 3 months I might have forgotten, and so I obviously upped the bodycount to the required number.   That “help” from the nurse brings me to my last point here … my sense is it’s probably a matter of public policy over here to make it as easy as possible for people who say they want these jabs to get them. The reality is that if you’ve overcome your embarrassment etc to go into one of these clinics, you’re probably someone who is a genuine risk and it’s worthwhile to jab you, not just for your protection, but to keep a lid on virus spread in the community in general. Prevention is cheaper for the taxpayer than cure after all. For the same reason, I also wonder, having filled in that scrap of paper at reception with minimal info whether actually they would care that much if you completely fictionalised it to “Mickey Mouse” etc to anonymise yourself - though I didn’t risk trying to do that myself.    All in all, even with my low risk I’m delighted to get myself juiced up with as much free protection as I can while it’s available. I understand that Bexsero is readily available in Thailand, even if the Mpox vaccine may not be. I honestly think its a no brainer for any of us on these boards who can get them done, to just do it.…
    • That sounds like work and I hate work at the moment which is my reason for posting here instead.   Seriously though, if you asked me for a list of restaurants and bars in Bangkok 4 years ago my answers would have been much more limited.  It's not really that surprising when I consider how much spare time is gained when not almost entirely focused on chasing LBs and girls.  A good example is that if you'd asked me back then about breakfast places I might have laughed as the only reason for leaving bed before mid afternoon was badly planned early flight or heading off to a blowjob bar before returning to sleep. Nowadays, half the good places I eat at in Bangkok are open and closed early at around the time I'd not long have returned from the bars each night when focused on p4p. If I realistically knew no more than 2% of the city during my mongering days that's only increased to a generous maximum of 10% so while I stand by my recommendations there's very little chance that they're the best options or even if there's such a thing as the best. Bangkok is just much too big to keep track of anyway. That's why I don't get bored just by going to new parts of town to explore either based on whatever I've read on the internet or just going somewhere at random to see what can be found. Also, learning Thai and having a Thai Mrs helps hugely of course. Your Thai is coming along well isn't it? Have you started looking for recommendations in Thailand yet? I honestly find it overwhelming but my Thai is still not great at all and online translation isn't the best always.
