Personally I'm not a huge fan of Indian food but I did like Charcoal Tandoor at the Fraser Suites in Sukhumvit soi 11. Not cheap, but they serve high quality food in very nice surroundings...

If you like Barbeque and ribs look no further than Le Cochon Blanc on Sukhumvit soi 31. There's a very relaxed vibe about the place and the prices are OK for the food they offer. I particularly liked the sweetbreads ( ris de veau ).  https://www.lecochonblanc.com/

If you have a lot of luggage, the A1 Bus -> BTS Mo Chit to Nana option will be a grind although cheap, bus is 30 baht and 42 baht for BTS to Nana.

As milhouse said, you can forgo the taxi queue (and airport taxi surcharge) easily by going up to the departure level and grabbing a taxi just after his passenger has got out and he's put his red light on again.

Done it more times than I can count!
After you pick up your luggage head to the upstairs departure area. Head outside and pick up a cab that is just dropping someone off. The actual taxi area on the arrivals side is so fucked up it isn't funny, skip it.
After you get a taxi say "meter please" and if he says no get out. After you have a cab tell him "toll way" this will get you on the elevated expressway.
If you just tell him "Nana" he will get it!
120 baht for the tollway and usually 250 for the cab ride, well worth it in my opinion in order to simplify getting downtown.
Best of luck and have fun!

There should not be any cream in Carbonara, just egg yolk added at the end, which cooks itself with the hot oil used to cook the cheek lard (not bacon). So the end dish should not be swimming in sauce at all.

I better preapare it myself in the kitchen I have in the apartment, if I can find the right things in BKK

    Guys,

Both this and the Pattaya forum are having some server issues at the moment.

We are currently running on a backup server, the forum may look a bit strange with missing functions while this is resolved.

    please bear with us.

I flew with them back from Isaan one time, standard budget kind of airline really. I noted legroom seemed a bit less than Air Asia or Nok. In flight meal was a 3 pack of Oreos and a small water.

Previously for all IT type queries you would tell people to visit Pantip Plaza, but I keep hearing good things about Fortune Town which is more conveniently located slap bang outside Phra Ram 9 MRT station (2 stops from Asok).

I tried the A1 bus a few weeks ago. Must have been 5pm on a Friday night when I went, waited ages for the bus so it was very busy, jammed into the bus like sardines, traffic was real heavy until it got onto the expressway. Think I'll just stick to a taxi next time.

I am also a fan of Pala Pizza, It is outside Asoke BTS, next to the ground level entrance to the MRT station.

You can either eat inside the restaurant or they have a take away window if you are on the move.

Anyone new to Bangkok looking for a good pie that doesn't want the usual cardboard with sauce they serve at Pizza Hut or Pizza Company try the following places, all of them offer very good pies for not too much money:

    1. Bella Napoli - Soi 31. Thin crust brick oven style. Variety of toppings, only downside is they have only one size and it's fairly large (prices are around 200-500 baht depending on toppings). Also have some decent pasta options served in a clay bowl with pizza dough on top and a very good wine list.

    2. Scoozi - This is a local chain that has been around for a number of years. They have around 20 locations around Bangkok (several in and around Sukhumvit). Extensive toppings and a very good crust. (Prices start at 100 for what they call Pizza Bread (basically cooked dough) to 600 for their super pizzas). They also deliver throughout Bangkok and have online ordering.

    3. Pala Pizza - Under Asoke BTS, next to Terminal 21. This is perhaps my favorite pizza place in all of Bangkok. They claim to use only ingredients imported from Italy. They cook their pizza in meter long slabs and also have numerous toppings and options. Some of their pizza's they do sell by the slice (around 60-100 baht). A whole meter pizza can be on the expensive side (some as much as 1500 baht) but it is well worth it. They also have an excellent deli counter inside featuring all sorts of Italian meats, cheeses and condiments.

These are 3 of my favorites, if you have one not listed please add it!

I had to do a visa run to Lao last week so thought I'd check out the VIP bus option from Bangkok described by mardhi.

I sat in the downstairs compartment which only houses 6 passengers, had a solo seat. Not only do they have a serious recline but they have buttons you press to give you a massage as well!

We left Mo Chit at 20:30 and arrived in Mukdahan at about 06:45, I think we only stopped in Korat which was about 3 hours into the journey. The roads were very quiet, especially with the midnight curfew still in effect as well.
