Bwana_LB got a reaction from mardhi in Citrus Suites Sukumvit Soi 6
Just finishing a 7-night stay at the Citrus Suites Soi 6. Overall, my impressions are very positive.
I was upgraded to an executive suite, which is quite spacious. Lots of pictures to follow.
My room was on the backside of the hotel, so virtually no noise from Soi 6. The walks from the hotel to NEP, Chaos 9 and CIB are all short and easily done. Never saw the need for a taxi, and the girls I brought back were fine with the short walk. And speaking of girls, there were no issues bringing the girls up to the room. We'd drop her ID off at the desk and hop on the elevator located directly across from the desk.
The executive suite has two rooms--living room and bedroom--separated by a bathroom. Both the living and bed areas have their own AC units which are controlled with an LED touchpad. There's a door that can be closed between the living and bedroom areas.
The living area has a decent LED TV, a medium-sized refrigerator, and lots of seating and lighting options. I made good use of the chairs in front of the one large mirror with a couple of the girls.
The bathroom has both a shower and a tub. I had no issues with water flow or temperature with the shower. The amenities provided (shampoo/conditioner, bath gel, etc.) are basic, but I bring my own, so not a demerit as far as I'm concerned.
The generously large bed was very comfortable, and I'm picky about beds. There was a second smaller LED TV in the bedroom. Again, lots of lighting options for setting the mood. Additionally, there is a desk and chair, and lots of plugs and a dedicated USB port for all the devices we bring. I often run short of plugs for my e-goodies, but not here.
The view from my room (8th floor) was uninspiring, but not something I care about. I use the room for sleeping and fucking, and I'm out and about the rest of the time.
The pool area on the 10th floor is small, but had the advantage of being barely used by others. There were umbrellas and lounge chairs and towels. One night my guest and I went up and jumped into the jacuzzi, having the place to ourselves.
The hotel staff seemed attentive. I didn't place many demands on them, but all my requests were immediately respond to. I tipped the housekeeping staff daily and asked for extra towel...no problem. They left me 6 towels every day.
I was a bit disappointed with the breakfast buffet. After having stayed at the Majestic Grande for the past 10 years, this buffet seemed fairly basic. They do have a chef making eggs to order, but the rest of the buffet is run of the mill. By my last two mornings I was heading out to have breakfast elsewhere (expensive, but the JW Marriott has a great buffet).
I would happily return to this hotel. For my purposes, the location can't be beat. It's a short walk to my favorite LB shopping locations, and a quick walk to the Nana BTS station. There are some fabulous restaurants in the basement and on the 6th floor of Central Embassy, which is just a 10-15 minute walk away (if you like serious Neapolitan-style pizza, Peppina is the real deal, with 4 locations in BKK).

This is precisely why I skip Pattaya altogether. I've had many world-class meals in BKK, and never a one in Pattaya. Even in the mid-range, Bangkok has it all over Patts. I'm wheels down in Bangkok in 2 weeks and I have a list of restaurants to hit.

    Assante  Bwana
    That's great info.
I've also taken some to Long Table as it's just a short walk from CIB and it has a more laid back vibe.
That list is very useful as there are a lot of new places on it.

And if anyone else is interested in those places with great views in BKK, here's a nice list:

Not sure it has been proposed as a thread here or on Pattaya forum, at least in a thorough and descriptive way as I intend it.
I’m a sinful devil bastard and I don’t let lust overwhelm my gluttony. I’m a serious foodie and I’m planning my short trip in September (18-24) accordingly. 3 nights in BKK, 3 nights in Pattaya, I’m almost set.
Back home I read a lot on the subject and I’m always on the lookout for the latest gourmet novelties, be it higher-end places or cheap holes with exceptional love for what they do.
I’m an Italian after all. We talk about food even when we are eating.
In BKK I already enquired for a table at Gaggan, voted World’s best Asian restaurant and I put on my list some of the places A. Bourdain (RIP and Respect bro), visited.
I was wondering if some of you sinners would like to share some tips on gems to be found while in BKK and Pattaya.
I’m not afraid of experimenting strangest things as long as it’s really tasteful...
the same goes for what arouses me in bed I suppose...
    Thanks for your insights!

If you walk the mean streets of BKK, particlularly lower Sukhumvit from soi 3 up to about 13 you'll see plenty of vendors selling dildos etc.
I've never seen adult shops in BKK, but plenty of street vendors selling various items.
    Cheers

A man hasn't lived until he has perused sex toys at the Indian street booths whilst Arab women  wearing full black burqas pass by.  Insider tip for horndogs and mongers:  Burqa gals showing any eyebrow are promiscuous. Have fun, fellas.

Yes I stayed there last week. Walking to Nana is quite a hike and it would take longer than 15 minutes. What google maps don't show are the crumbling sidewalks, Indian trinket booths, food carts, Arabs families loitering, beggars, etc that you have to navigate on the way. You can take a motorbike taxi to Sukhumvit for 20  baht, and then connect whatever way you want from there. There are also cabs and tuk tuks available. If cab is on the meter, NEP would be about 50 or 60 baht.
My room was a bit on the smallish side, a mid-priced room I can't remember what is was called. However, the bed was the largest I have ever seen - much larger than a king size. I had 2 LBs spend the night with me a couple of nights and we could have easily accomodated a 3rd girl for 4 people total.
The bathroom had very little counter top space, which is something I hate. I like being able to put all toiletries on the counter top next to the sink, but I couldn't do that. The closet was tiny and there really isn't anyplace to store undershorts or socks except in  your luggage.
24 hour room service is not available, which is another negative. The restaurant itself is nothing special, but the food is decent both in quality and price.
I know this comes off as a negative review, but I wouldn't have any problems staying there again. However,  if you want to stay in this area at a similar price you can get more bang for the buck at Grand Swiss on soi 11 or In Residence on soi 13.
One last thing:  they don't take IDs of guests, which is something to be wary of if you plan on bringing a freelancer to your room.

I know it's late in the game, so Bwana may have given up on this question. I myself have a reservation at Solitaire for upcoming December trip, so I emailed them to find out their guest policy. Below is their reply. It looks like they frown on getting blow jobs in the restaurant, but everything else is a go ladyboy-wise.....

    Dear Mr. *******
Thank you for your email to Solitaire Bangkok Sukhumvit 11,

The joiner is free of charge however we do require them to present and leave their ID card at reception desk upon arrival and they are not allowed to be in any hotel public area.

Almost all hotels are going to have tourists and families, but so what? If you are getting LBs out of bars, chances are you will be going through the lobby with a girl in the wee hours - not too many kids in the lobby at 2:00 am.
Besides, if some housewife from Melbourne or Chicago on holiday is mortified by the sight of a ladyboy, who gives a shit? If she lets that ruin her vacation, that's her problem not yours.

Bwana_LB got a reaction from Boomerang in has anyone caught an std?
I get a kick out of posters who claim they've never had an STD, saying "I got tested and came back clear." Or "I've never had a single symptom."

Fact is, for most men, many STDs are asymptomatic. Sometimes you'll get a bout that will cause you pain and discomfort (the ol' pissing razorblades syndrome), but in other instances you'll be infected but won't have any symptoms. But, being infected, you'll be infecting others if you're going BB.

This is especially a problem with HPV, which is almost always asymptomatic in men, and there's no test for HPV in men. The upside is there aren't too many risks for men, aside from ugly warts that might develop, but for GGs it's a different story. And since HPV is epidemic among sex workers (probably as close to 100% as you can get), it's a near certainty that we've all had or have HPV. And there's no treatment for HPV. The warts can be burned off, and the virus usually clears all by itself among men after a few months, but until it does, you are a carrier.

True. Every Mexican restaurant where I live serves these dishes, but I can imagine they'd go over like a lead balloon in BKK with the tourist crowd. Don't hold your breath...

Best ever? I've stayed there 3 times, and the bed was fine, but not as good as the ones at the Majestic Grande on Soi 2, and certainly not one of the very best I've ever slept in. It is a better than average bed, in my book.
