I booked three nights here in March and since I have only seen recomendations for this place I thought I would write up my stay so you could check it out.

    Pros
    wifi in room
    see in bathroom
    pool
    excellent sized room
    in room safe
    big shower
    desk takes guests id
tuk tuk service to nana station

    Cons
    location

I booked it off of agoda while I was in Pattaya. The only problem I had was when I showed up they wanted the voucher which I need access to a pc with a printer. I tried explaining that I would need the pc in the lobby to get them the voucher but they poked around their computer and found the reservation so didn't need it. They greet you with a glass of juice for you while you are checking in I could have used a rag to wipe the sweat down but a good welcome just the same. I had booked for three nights on agoda and got a deal on it so not sure what the rates normally are on this room maybe the same maybe higher never really checked prices on this one before so not sure. It came out to around $137 which was $40 cheaper than I payed for Heaven@4 a week earlier. I think this is a better hotel overall but the location is the one negative which might keep me away from it. It is quite a ways down soi 4 actually you get down to Worburi and take the side street next to it down to the end and find yourself at Boss Suites. I have a few photos of the area if anyone wants a little clarification on that. It isn't to far for me to walk and I took a girl from nana two nights in a row and walked her down there with no complaints but I can see you getting some over it. I just thought it was to close to get a taxi or motorcycle taxi down there but if you want to be nice to the girl I suppose you can. I never really checked into the tuk tuk but I suppose you should be able to ring them and get a pick up but I would rather do the walk myself. I had to laugh as every time I left the hotel i got the taxi proposition from the guys in front of the worburi. I would never take a taxi that sits in front of a place as they like to jack you up on the price and even way down here you have taxis driving by you so its not a problem to get a metered one. That's about all I can think of right now so here are some pics for you.

hughjass85 got a reaction from OneTrueSaxon in Thai english translations apps and how to set up (Android)
I haven't seen any threads about people using apps to communicate when there is a language barrier. Surprising as I thought they would be quite useful.
I have had a brief look at a few on play store and google translate seems to be the best one. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.translate&hl=en

If anyone has found any other good ones please post them here.

For those that don't know how to set up your phone/tablet to use translators effectively I will run through the process.

Before you can translate from Thai ---> English you have to have a way for the other party to input Thai. We do this by adding a thai keyboard.

Your version of android will differ but select "Language & input" in the settings on your phone/tablet. Then look for the "Keyboard & input methods" heading and click the settings icon where it says "Android Keyboard" :

    Now select "Input languages" :

You will notice only English is selected :

Scroll down and tick the box next to Thai :

When in google translate to switch from English to Thai and Thai to English select the arrow in the middle :

When you bring up your keyboard notice the button next to the spacebar :

Clicking that will put you in "Thai mode" :

Pretty straight forward stuff but I thought it might be a useful post in case there are some guys that don't know how to get it set up.

I'm interested to hear peoples experiences with these translator apps and if they are very effective.

Figured i'd make a pass at staying off the beaten hotel tracks next weekend, and found the Narathiwas Residence at Saithorn. Not exactly walking distance to sukhumvit, but in the land of the 70bt motorcycle taxis Saithorn is not that far from Sukhumvit. Silom and patpong is actually closer though.

A 72 sq m one bedroom serviced appartment at a little above bt2000 is an acceptable deal in my book, so all is booked and ready for my arrival. Premises looks absolutely fantastic.

On second thought, its always wise to scope out reviews but could not find any, so i guess i've appointed myselfthe guineapig. Unless, of course, any forum members have stayed there but forgot to post.

Ill post my review as soon as have more to tell

hughjass85 reacted to Youngone in Octave rooftop bar at the marriot hotel on Soi 57
I've been to Octave only twice and found it an enjoyable relaxing kind of place. I didn't see any LB's the times I was there, but would guess they are LB friendly as all Marriott's are in my experience. An easier place to get to and just as nice is Above Eleven at the Fraser Suites on soi 11, more or less just behind the Q Bar.

Free weights. A few machines. Decent amount of space. Better than most but nowhere near as good as your local gym. Last visit (oct 2012) the machines were well maintained - pretty rare in my experience.
