I tentively asked if she was and she said no with a smile. I told her I need to find out, so we went out that night. Of course she was!. My radar never lets me down. 1 2 oliver17, Transpo and gainsbarre reacted to this

Yes I have found the odd one or two and sometimes more in the larger hotels and at times like yourself I have only been 50\50 if they are or are not but you would think there would be a boutique hotel of this type in Bangkok ? 1 Long John reacted to this

Page 10 Hotel in Pattaya employs several LBs, or at least they did the last time I was there. They work the front desk and there are also a handful of them in the restaurant. I have never seen that many ladyboys working straight jobs in one workplace before or since. The down side is Page 10 is absurdly overpriced for what they offer. Even the presence of LBs doesn't make it worth your money. Sad to say, but I am sure most hotels prefer not to have LBs working in positions that directly face customers for business reasons. Most mainstream farang tourists find ladyboys weird and unsettling, and while Thai folks may publicly accept the presence of LBs in society, their real attitude about LBs is revealed by the fact that most families wouldn't stand for their son becoming one or marrying one. Hotels no doubt prefer to avoid all that stuff by only hiring ladyboys for low-visibility jobs only. 3 Jeff_LBL, taaseesanuk and tinpanali reacted to this

Everyone in that generation is now very familiar with Ladyboys, all the Social Media platforms have enabled that. My kids are in their early twenties and Ladyboys to them are as familiar and normal as Chicken Green curry with rice. 6 Genghis, Kyser, Jeff_LBL and 3 others reacted to this

I don't disagree that young folks are generally more socially enlightened than their parents, but some cultures and age groups will be stuck in the old days and I don't think that will be changing anytime soon. For instance, think about the growing number of Muslim families that visit Thailand. These are desirable tourists with money and there is no way a hotel that wishes to attract them is going to hire an LB for the front desk to check them in or serve them in any other capacity. Mainstream middle age and elderly Western farangs are also tourists with money and while they may be more liberal than Muslims, the mere sight of an LB is guaranteed to have them nudging and whispering to each other. I have seen their reactions myself one million times over the years, you probably have as well. Even when young Western farangs visit LB bars, they frequently regard it a they would visit a zoo, shooting pics and video to post on social media for some laughs. Ladyboys are everyday stuff for us, but for most other people in the world, LBs may as well be from outer space. Hotels and other businesses that cater to tourists know this and they adjust their hiring practices accordingly. That's why you rarely see ladyboys working for them. 1 Unavowed reacted to this

I remember back circa 2012 everyone getting very excited because Donut (ex C&D) pitched up working front desk at Page 10 Reception. I stayed there and she did look great - though I felt it would have been crass to even consider making a move when she was obviously in midst of a career change and really didn't need falang guests chasing after her. However, that didn't stop me getting an off-duty date with another one of her LB colleagues at Reception - something that could have been momentous but instead turned into quite the long night / next day with no real upside (no ones fault things just did not go well one way or another). It also meant that for the rest of my stay I had to keep my fingers crossed that she was not at front desk when returning back to Page 10 late at night with my latest companion. Chocolat and I got the evil eye, and then some, one early morning when we stumbled through the front doors. A timely reminder to never shit on your own hotel doorstep. 1 Jimmy_Lovepants reacted to this
Jimmy_Lovepants 513 #8 Posted April 7 I can't comment on whether lbs are discriminated against by hotel employers, I have no idea. Ideally it should be a great employment opportunity for ex P4P lbs .. Same airport jobs. The one positive they acquire through sex work is a level of English. I remember mentioning it to a couple - they liked the idea in theory but seemed dubious about its practicality. There probably is discrimination.

You could be onto something there, I can see the practicalities of asking "What your name?" and "Where you from?" 1 Jimmy_Lovepants reacted to this
hkaus72 623 #10 Posted April 11 Pretty sure there is a LB working in the 2nd floor restaurant at Radisson Blu Plaza in BKK. Have spotted her on more than one occasion, but never any interaction.
Kyser 6 #11 Posted April 11 There was a LB working at reception at Arbor Hotel in Pattaya when I stayed there last year. I know a freelancer from in BKK who last year finished her tourism degree and went onto do her internship at a very well known 5 star hotel in the city. She worked in the Club/Executive lounge area of the hotel. 1 Jimmy_Lovepants reacted to this

I am actually not sure if most of the sandpit tourists would even know if it is a ladyboy! I have come across a few ones during my many hotel stays, but it is always limited to one single person, as for straight jobs, a lot of them work in beauty related businesses, not surprisingly as they are the absolute masters in Make-up. But I know 2 girls working in an office for customers of mine, and one is even a sales girl with whom i got befriended.
