I have stayed there a few times and done some vlogs from there.
I like it and would use again.
7-11 nearly next door with a good laundry shop also.
Walking distance from Nana BTS and more importantly the CIRB !!

iPad is not good for downloading because there is no file browser. It is designed solely for you to run apps that are installed out of the box and what's in the iTunes store. So unless you do some non-standard stuff with an iPad, you aren't going to be able to go to some porn site, download five or six 400mb movies, and then come back and watch them later. The other reason as that standard iPad caps out at 128gb of storage space and that's it! I could download 128gb of porn in a month... If you want more than that, you'd have to upgrade to an iPad pro which is like $1000 for 256 version... You could get an excellent laptop for that amount. And back to the file explorer problem, connecting it to a USB hard drive isn't much of an option for extra storage either. You could jailbreak the device or something, but then you break the warranty and it's a headache.

The other thing is that iPad by default doesn't support certain file types like MKV. You'd have to download a separate app for those files. Even streaming flash on iPad is not possible.... Thankfully, most websites have switched to HTML5, so its not too big of a deal, but you will definitely run into instances where you want to watch a movie but can't because it's only available in flash. So when it comes to streaming movies and porn, iPad is a 2nd class device, and when it comes to downloading, you're not going to have a good experience.

Filling in web based forms, and surfing the web are a breeze with iPad. Email is fine too.... Keep in mind that you're probably going to not want to type anything long on the virtual keyboard on the screen, but its okay. Streaming sports will be fine as well.

But you can do all that with a Windows Tablet or an Android Tablet too.

If you're certain that you never want to connect your device via HDMI to a monitor or TV and you have no intention of ever installing full fledged programs like Excel, Word, Photoshop, etc.... Android would be my #1 choice. It is much more open than iPad, but less secure and wonky.

If you want a bulletproof device that is sleek, sexy, looks great, but is severely limited in functionality... iPad or iPad Pro.

If you want a true desktop replacement, go with a Windows tablet. I have a surface pro that I use as a desktop when I'm home (with bluetooth keyboard, mouse) connected to a full sized monitor. When I'm on the road, I unplug it and use it as a laptop, and when I'm in bed or in a bus or something, I can use it in tablet mode. I can wirelessly stream TV/Movies to my television with a wireless microsoft adapter (only some tablets support this- Surface book is one of them). But you really only need this option if you want full PC functionality and need to install full PC programs. Otherwise Android will work for you, and you actually do have file folder functionality with Android.

20th June 2017 : Paris Air Show, Le Bourget, France

Qatar Airways was today announced the World’s Best Airline at the SKYTRAX 2017 World Airline Awards. Voted Best Airline by travellers across the world in the annual passenger survey, the Doha based carrier has now won the prestigious Airline of the Year title for a fourth time. Qatar Airways enjoyed further success by winning major awards for the World’s Best Business Class, the World’s Best First Class Lounge and as the Best Airline in the Middle East.

Singapore Airlines, a perennial favourite in the awards was ranked No. 2 in the world, also receiving awards as the Best Airline in Asia, the World’s Best Business Class seat and for having the Best Premium Economy Onboard Catering.

Referred to as the “Oscars of the aviation industry”, the World Airline Awards are held in high esteem for clarity of process and independence, with no outside sponsorship or external influence. The survey voting processes and awards results analysis were subject to detailed, independent assessment by the UK advertising authority (ASA) in 2015 and found fully compliant, transparent and independent.

The survey enables any airline in the world to be nominated, allowing travellers to make their own choice, underlining the brand as the Passenger’s Choice Awards.

19.87 million eligible survey entries were counted in the final results, and 105 nationalities participated in the survey from August 2016 to May 2017. The survey covered over 325 airlines, from largest international airlines to smaller domestic carriers, measuring Quality standards for 41 KPI’s across front-line product and service factors in the Airport and Onboard environments. Agree 100% re not enough sun.

It isn't the most appealing pool area to laze away an afternoon and work on the tan.

It is a shame because it is so close to Nana and guest friendly ... it's a conundrum!

I have been staying in this hotel for the past 4 years now and I must say I am quite happy overall.
First of all, I like the location on soi 6, makes it very close to action in Nana but still being in a quiet soi.
It is very easy to find for taxi drivers and close to nana BTS walking either way on soi 4 ( for a busy soi) or soi 6 ( for a quiet walk)

Staff is friendly and very helpful. Rooms are quite big and clean.
It is possible to get a suite or a room with balcony for extra money, no point for me since the classic deluxe room is pretty good.
Beds are big enough for 3somes or 4somes and very comfy and dont require joiner fees.
Rooms are very quiet and the construction of the building is that good that I usually sleep with no AC .
The bathroom is big and clean with Shower and BathTube, room service is usually fast and always available.
There is a large pool on the third floor with delivery food or beverages if needed.

Prices start at 1900 THB a night for the regular room, not cheap sure but worth it
    Here are some pictures :

Le Fenix Sukhumvit is a fun little hotel in Bangkok

I have only stayed here the once back in February 2009 and I liked the hotel a lot, though I should think about using it again

I always recommend to those who love clubs and bars.So it's a convenient hotel with no joiner fees if you choose to take a bar girl or freelancer back to your room. The reception is on the first floor and their is a lift in the car park that takes you straight up using your key card. Or if you wish you can go via reception

The place is designed in line with club and party minded guests. There is a decent roof top bar on the top floor called the Nest and even though the building is 8 stories tall you still get a decent view of the surrounding area. I went a each night but on the last night gave it a miss, As I swear that's were the mozzies bit me all down my arms, while lying sipping cocktails on one of the beds.

There's a small swimming pool and gym. A free tuk tuk ride to the BTS Nana station which is right in front of Sukhumvit Soi 11. Though the biggest perks is you get free entrance to Q Bar and Bed Supperclub (only during non-special events). Normally you'd have to pay 500THB to 700THB entry free just to get in to both clubs. And you also get 20% off for food at Bed Supperclub so it pays to be a hotel guest at Le Fenix.

The hotel is located a little ways down on Suk Soi 11. About 300 meters and right across from Q Bar. So it's easy to find.

Though if you find the walk a little bit too far, the hotel does provide tuk tuk service to take you to the entrance of Sukhumvit road. And right in front is the BTS Nana station.
And the location is an ideal point for visiting Soi Cowboy or Nana go go bars. Because it's right in between the two red light districts. So you can walk to either one in about 10 minutes.

As I mentioned earlier you book a standard or superior room for about 1400THB through Agoda.com. It's not a bad price at all for a 3 star hotel in the middle of everything a single guy could need.

And it's a guest friendly hotel right on Sukhumvit so no problems with inviting bar girls or freelancers to a room there. Here's the email confirmation below for your reference:.

The only annoying problem I had was the light in the wardrobe would not go out when you shut the doors. most honest hotel I have stayed. I forgot to shut the safe door one morning and when I arrived back at the hotel, Their was a note saying to go to reception. They went up to the room opened the safe, as the cleaning staff told them it was open so they set it back to reset. I checked and everything was in order. Big tip for cleaning staff when I left as well as recption.

I stayed there in January. The elevators do require a room key. BTW, the elevators play only one song, Eric Clapton's "I shot the Sheriff" (One True Saxon will verify this). I don't know about smoking rooms, but I do remember ashtrays were readily available all over the property, so I am guessing the answer is yes.

Galleria 10 is LB friendly, and the staff treated all girls I took there very well. They have a fun pool area on the roof with a pretty good bar / restaurant up there as well.

I stayed on the club level. The rooms up there have a decent view of the City, but really nothing special. I think it's probably a little overpriced. For about the same cost you can stay at their sister property Grand Swiss on Soi 11, which offers more bang for the buck.

On Thursday, the Doha, Qatar-based airline announced that business-class passengers aboard its flights to the US would have access to loaner laptops beginning next week.

"By providing this laptop loan service we can ensure that our passengers on flights to the US can continue to work whilst on-board," Qatar Airways Group's CEO, Akbar Al Baker, said in a statement.

"This unique ability to offer 'business as usual,' above and beyond the competition, is yet another example of Qatar Airways justification for being the 'World's Best Business Class.'"

In addition, business-class passengers will have access to complimentary Wi-Fi.

Qatar Airways has not announced which type of laptops will be available.

The loaner program will not be available to economy-class passengers. At the same time, Qatar Airways has moved toward a two-cabin class configuration, which means the airline's flights to the US operate without a first-class cabin.

The laptop program is the latest reaction by one of the nine airlines affected by the US laptop ban. The policy, which took effect Saturday, prohibits passengers flying to the US from some airports in the Middle East and North Africa from carrying-on electronics bigger than a smartphone. The US government has said it introduced the policy in response to fears that terrorists could hide explosives within electronics, though it has not mentioned any imminent plots.

While all of the affected carriers have made it clear they plan to comply with the ban, they have also come up with a series of ways to work around the US government's new policy.

On Wednesday, the Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates-based Etihad Airways announced that it would offer first- and business-class passengers free Wi-Fi and loaner iPads on US-bound flights beginning Saturday.

Earlier this week, Turkish Airlines announced on Twitter that passengers who turned in their laptops and tablets at boarding would receive free Wi-Fi on board. Last week, Emirates implemented a laptop handling program allowing passengers getting on US-bound flights to have access to their laptop until boarding. The Dubai, UAE-based carrier has also hinted that it may offer loaner laptops.

According to Emirates' president, Tim Clark, the US government's laptop ban has created logistical challenges for the airline and the airports that handle its flights. Thus far, the short-term effects have not been as dire as anticipated, while its long-term effects won't be clear for some time, Clark told Business Insider. Not having access to laptops, however, is still an inconvenience to the carrier's passengers.

I bought one of these Bose speakers last month in Pattaya and it has been brilliant to carry around and listen to Talksport while my phone was on charge.

I was worried that I would not be able to bring it back to the UK when I flew home last Thursday so I carried it in my hand luggage and showed it the girl at the check in counter, she asked me to turn it on and it says something like "bluetooth connected", she then says to me "ok, no problem" and I am off through the baggage check and onto the plane with it

As the UK ban does not include Qatar and the UAE and as I do fly with either Qatar or Emirates airlines I shall be taking it back to Pattaya with me

Thanks man appreciated. Quiet and discreet is how i like it and citadines seems that way. Rooms look nice too with full kitchen couch etc. Perfect for a long stay. Distance seems to be the only concern, but i always stay on soi2 (solo & aspen) so I dont mind a trek up to the main road.

It is quite a way down soi 8 but they do have a free tuk tuk. I personally like soi 8 as not overly busy and a lot of great restaurants around. There is a short cut to NEP via soi 6
