Background - Solo traveller, this trip was my 8th to Thailand, I normally spend most of my time in pattaya, but always like a couple of nights in bkk before flying home. Previously stayed in Fraser suites, Soi 11. Citrus suites Sukhumvit 6. Aspira Soi 7. Usually spend my time on Soi 11 or nana, not much of a Soi cowboy fan or patpong. CIB gets a visit from me every time I'm in bkk.
Location - I'd give the location an okay rating, it's walkable to all the local haunts, but perhaps a little bit far for stumbling home drunk from CIB. The street the hotel on doesn't have much happening on it which is good cause it's quiet, and your not far from the main action. there is a new massage joint on the street as your walking up to Sukhumvit that looks like it mainly caters to Japanese / Korean customers.
Checkin - Early checkin not possible, but they arranged a late checkout the next day for couple of hundred baht. 2 on reception anytime I came and went. both seemed pretty disinterested in any customers and seemed to spend most of their time on phones
Room - See attached video. Room felt a bit stuffy when entering, but a soon cleared up with the aircon on for a bit. Aircon was powerful and quiet. Furniture is decent, but everything is definitely getting a little worn, couch wasn't the comfiest, but the bed was medium firm and gave a decent nights sleep. bed linen was clean but only of average quality, prefer something a bit nicer tbh. Decor was nice and modern-ish. Kitchen had decent set of utensils, appliances etc. big fridge and plenty of storage, this place would be good for an extended stay I think.
Bathroom - big and clean. shower ran nice and hot when needed with good power. only problem was the door never really sealed properly so the bathroom always ended up really wet after a shower, which is a problem if your showering multiple times a day like me. Also, the free toiletries are tiny and shit. I normally buy my own from 7/11 for holidays, but on my last night before flying home I thought I could just wing it with hotel supplied stuff. Bad choice.
Internet - truly terrible, couldn't even access basic email and website without getting logged off and have to login to the internet again. in the end just went with tethering to my mobile for much better experience.
Breakfast - didn't partake, but they do have a free bean to cup expresso machine in the lobby with takeaway cups which is a really useful perk I've not seen anywhere else.
Facilities - pool on the rooftop, can't really say much about this as I didn't spend any time up there
Guest Friendly - 100%, girls at CIB seemed to know the hotel well
Noise - this is definitely this hotels plus point, quietest hotel I've stayed at in bkk, no bar / club noise at all. not even traffic noise which plagued me when I spend time at citrus of Frasers. This would probably get me to stay here again.
Price - 62 GBP, probably a little pricey as it's not really suites size of room, but was a late booking in the middle of high season (DEC)
Overall - quietness of the room for a location so close to the action was a real plus for me, probably would not stay again, as there are so many other quality hotels to try. the search for the perfect hotel room continues...
