  1. I have used Air Asia for internal flights in Thailand. No frills for sure. Good prices to be had but they charge higher for baggage. I flew them to Phnom Penh from BKK and it was just the same as their domestic service.

I haven't flown them from Australia. I have been getting good prices from Thai Air by using their site. Direct flights to BKK from our Capital cities. You can get a free stopover in Thailand. So I often fly into BKK then go onto Phuket or Chiang Mai. From Brisbane I get into BKK around 8 o'clock. I take two carry ons and over night in BKK while my baggage is check through to Phuket or Chaing Mai. Then I fly the next day as you have up to 24 hours to connect. Then return to BKK after a few days. Depending on time of year I get this routing from $750 to $1,100 AUD. I fly Q class so I get 100 % mileage, That cost about 80 to 100 AUD more. Otherwise you only get 25% of the mileage.

With Q class you can make changes for $55 AUD depending on availability. I just booked a ticket to London using them. I took advantage of the free stopover in Thailand so I will stop in BKK on the way to London and the way back. That ticket cost $2,200.

Thai Air website You can book your flights on line and pay online, or take down reference number and phone their local office in Australia to pay. Website only takes mastercard a visa. You can use other cards by calling in. You can essentially hold a flight by doing that way also.

  2.

I was hoping that my experience with the towels was just an unlucky misstake but now I'm really hesitant to go back. To bad because I really like the rooms and the location but I will try to find something else for my next trip.

It's just them trying to cut cost. I just requested they bring me another up and give me two each day and it was done. The higher priced hotels do similar things with towels, under the guise of saving the environment they will request you hang them and use them over.

  3. The more I stayed at i Check inn the more I found out about some of their policies.. They chaneg sheets every other day of your stay, so if you want fresh sheets it's a 300 baht charge. :Bonkers: If they notice you are staying alone they will try to skimp on the towels, so you have to tell them you want two towels each day. They also pinged me for 130 baht for bar fridge one time. Which meant they made a mistake or Wan of CIB helped herself to a Kit Cat and a Coke. I seriously doubt she would have nicked it and would have asked if she wanted it. So now I get them to empty the fridge when I check in just avoid that again. They kind of nickel and dime guests on things I noticed. They charge me 10 baht aday when I leave a bag with them which I've done on several occasions. No other place I have stayed has done this.

The sound never bothers me, but I have noticed it was rather loud about the time I would go out. I found that soi pretty quite by the time I got home at night.

I've stayed at i Check Inn on Phloenchit since. I like that property better, and I have found the staff to be more relaxed. The rooms are older but bigger and just as nice IMO. They didn't try to short me towels either.

  4.

SM I know you are a specialist in this area!

Thanks in advance for any responses.

OTS is our specialist, but I don't think either of us value a pool or gym that much. I try to move around to check out other properties. Most recently I stayed on Soi 2 at Aspen suites which has a small pool but not much privacy. They have a shuttle that takes you to Sukhumvit. Aspen is good for longer stays with a kitchenette and big refrigerator.

I also also stayed next door at the i Check Inn Ploenchit. I liked the room there better than i Check Inn on Soi 7/1. I find that hotel to be the best value for location if your a CIB regular. Maxim Inn has raised in price over the last two years. It used to be in the 30 AUD a night range and now the same room is in the 40 AUD range.

As for pools and gyms I guess you would have to look to pay more and stay at JW Marriot which is ladyboy friendly. Great reviews in this section on it. If you can deal with being further away on Soi 11 Lefenix is around 45 to 50 AUD and has a gym and a pool.

  5. Great report flip. The room looks good. A couch and see through bathroom are plusses for me. Breakfast set up reminds me of LeFenix. The omelette bars makes it worth getting up for.. Price isn't to bad, and wouldn't be a bad change of pace. Have you taken any trips down to Patpong?

  6. I met BM from another forum who lives in Pattaya but had travelled up to BKK for the weekend. He told me about this place where he was staying. He had good things to say about it. Naturally it was ladyboy friendly. He actually got a Suite for the price of the deluxe room on some special. The deluxe is around 60 USD on Agoda. The suites are around $90 USD a night. Looks pretty nice. It's located on Soi 4 tucked back by Boss Suites.

    Hotel website

The site has a better deal with the Deluxe (36 sq m) room is 1,534 before taxes and the Suites (44 sq m) starting at 2,900 before taxes.

    Has anyone stayed there?

  7. They are giving a suite for about 65 dollars per night and usually they say its about 144 dollars. So was wondering how it was. I have stayed at the Aspen Suites and it is very comfortable if you get the junior suites. It was also about the same as 60 to 70 dollars plus breakfast for that for a junior suite at Aspen.

That would have been a pretty good price for this property. It's just past Aspen Suites and I Check In on Soi 2. The cut through to Soi 4 is in their parking area. I walked in and asked the price for a room and they said 3,200 baht. I tried to pick up a brochure but they were out and only had ones in Japanese. I saw some Arab families and Japanese in the lobby. I had pretty much ruled this place out do to price, but would be worth trying maybe at the $65 rate.

    .

  8. If you are booking any of the i Check In properties your best off going to their site direct. You can often access specials as well when staying 3 nights (10%) and 5 nights (20%) Return customers booking online get free upgrades too..

  9. I walked by this property on Soi 2 on my way to Aspen Suites. I would venture to say it's guest friendly given the location, but it would be in your best interests to call them and ask before booking. Their website says the rooms have free WiFi. I also looked at some of their specials which were kind of pricey in my estimation. 6,666 baht for 3 night stay was the romance special??? I think I would stay in Majestic Grande or JW Marriott if I was going to pay those prices. Definitely a higher end hotel than Dawin. The rooms are only 28 Sq meters which is pretty standard really.

I'm interested to see what the buggy carrige is that takes you 300 meters of the hotel? Is that just a complimentary Tuk Tuk.

Some one has to try it out but at those prices it's not going to be me anytime soon.

  10. Great review Jeimii, thanks so much for taking the time to take photos and write this one up.

I know Jimbo of C&D's stays there when he comes to BKK and has always spoke highly of it.

I also wanted to post this link of the thread you started asking about their safes as it may include some more info.

Stayed at the Bel Aire Princess soi 5 many moons ago and It was full of Arabs who let their kids press every floor button in lift and I was on the 12 floor. Little rascals arghhhhhhhhh

Seems to be their calling card no matter where they stay. If they have kids with them you can bet they will be running the halls at any given hour. I was at Aspen Suites and this small girl was in the hall and got on elevator with me and then got off at the floor below. I remember thinking how easy it would be for some creep to abduct her. You just don't see Western kids on the loose like this, but you do hear stories of them going missing.

  11. If you turn into Cheap Charlies off Soi 11 there are a group of restaraunts. Aprilbr, and a tranny we met went there before heading to Darkside one night. It's pretty good mexican fare. Not as good as you can get in the Southwest US, or Mexico, but much better than we can get in Australia. I got the tacos which were better than Taco Sunrises in my opinion. The service was good and the decor was better than Taco Sunrise. Anita the tranny thought it was better than she expected. She is from the States (Texas) so she is used to great Tex Mex fare. Sorry I didn't get more photos.

  12. Nice update. I especially like the photos that show the quick way to soi 4. I know what you mean about no coffee though. I ended up having to buy a small jar and the sugar I got from Subwa

Here are a few photos of where that path lets out on Soi 4 in front of Omni Towers. It's a good set up for Lohas Suites with exposure on both Sois. I priced them out and they were wanting 3,200 baht a night. They cater to Japanese customers judging from the brochures in the lobby.

  13. I just wanted to bump this thread as there was some discussion about it on another thread. It would be good to get some updates on this property.

I've posted some photos that reflect the close proximity of Aspen Suites, Solo, and i Check Inn which are all on Soi 2.

  14. I'm going to re-title this thread and update with some more currewnt information. As our hotel expert OTS mention the hotel used to be the Monaco but is now i Check Inn Ploenchit, Soi 2.

I'm staying here currently and have to say the deluxe rooms are bigger and a bit nicer than the i Check Inn on Soi 7/1. the only negative so farhas been my internet connection which seems to be okay today. I got the upgrade by booking online and indicating that I was return customer although I never stayed at this i Check Inn property.

I was staying at Aspen Suites prior to this which is just a couple doors down, Like the suites this place has a big ass refridgerator, microwave, and tea kettle. Except no tea bags or coffee??? A bit strange. The Nana property has a coffee, tea, and hot chocalte machine in the lobby and this property doesn't. They do have breakfast available which I think is 175 baht. They also have a lounge called the Chill out, which I haven't been to either.

I booked an extra day at the desk and got the same rate I got online, which was 1,299 baht after taxes. They have a Tuk tuk that takes you to the end of Soi 2 near Sukhumvit and Ploenchit station. There tuk tuk runs later than Aspen suites I've noticed.

Located just after Aspen Suites and Solo hotel on Soi 2.

A view from one of three windows in my corner room. Gives you an idea how far down Soi 2 it is.

    IMG_4460.jpg

Just down from i Check Inn is an access path at Lohas Suites that goes from Soi 2 to Soi 4 which is quite handy to get to nearest 7/11 and laundy places instead of walking all the way down to Rajah parking lot cut through.

  15. Having stayed in Hotel Solo next door for a few nights and Monaco now I check inn for a week next door book one. I never noticed they had an alley behind Lohas or Amari as it was last year.

Nice find mate. I will use that if I stay in any of them again.

I asked about getting to Soi 4 and someone told me about the short cut. It actually empties out on Soi 4 across from Omni Towers not Dawin.

I'm staying at i Check Inn which as you mention was the Monaco. I have to say that I like the rooms better than the Nana location on Soi 7/1

  16. Just some updates on P21 as I'm staying here now. This time I came alone and when I checked in they asked me if I was alone. I told them at that point I will have a friend joining me in the evening. So when I came home that evening with a ladyboy they took her ID at the desk. Then about 10 minutes after we were in the room the called up telling me it was hotel policy to charge 400 for extra person. I told them I had someone joining me when I checked in and make my reservation for 2 people. They backed right down and apologized but be prepared to pay a joiner fee with them. I think they just try to get it when they can.

    IMG_3754.jpg

    IMG_3755.jpg

The rooms are light in color which makes for good photography. They also have some good areas to stage some shots with plenty of desk top space and an alcocove.

    IMG_3778.jpg

    IMG_3825.jpg

Just to clarify earlier posts. They do not have a lift. The area that looks like where an lift might have gone is actually restrooms on the first floor near the stairs. I advise to book your room on second floor.

  17. I recently stayed at Aspen Suites on Soi 2 using Qantas air points booking through Qantas Hotels. I stayed for one week and found it good for the long stay with the kitchenette and the big refrigerator. I didn't cook anything really except for using the microwave to reheat some things. My friend Steve was staying there for a month and was cooking regularly. I also saw the a BM here when I checked in on the first day. They didn't have a room ready at the early arrival from a flight from Europe. I didn't anticipate that with room sales quite down in BKK. They tried to sell me an upgrade for 700 baht a day but I decided to wait it out.

    IMG_3488.jpg

    IMG_3228.jpg

The rooms had plenty of space and closet storage with a safe inside. Bathroom was not cramped. On some days I had to ask to have my room cleaned, but they would clean it late afternoon which accommodated my LT guests. The restaurant was reasonable and had specials for Thai and western dishes. Breakfast wasn't included so I didn't try to get up for that.

    IMG_3228.jpg

They have a Tuk tuk to take you down near Sukhumvit on Soi 2. The drivers always asked where I was going like they were going to take me there, but they only take you to the turn around point. So I eventually started answering them the same place your going.

    IMG_3225.jpg

    IMG_3229.jpg

The pool was quite narrow and located on the ground floor just outside the restaraunt, which wouldn't give much privacy and would make it difficult to get a LB in for a dip I would imagine.

    IMG_3490.jpg

To cut over to Soi 4 you can cut through the rajah parking lot near Guess Bar or you can walk past Aspen Suites to Lohas Suites which has a cut through to Soi 4 which takes you out near Dawin Hotel and the closest 7/11's

  18. Nice to see your hormone therapy is coming along nicely. Your Femboy breasts are getting bigger than the lasses breasts in the picture LOL

Yes, but it's not getting rid of the hair as I hoped.

  19. Fred I know that have redone the reception area, and may have done some work on those rooms on that side of the Soi. They have rooms on both sides.

They also have the 99 baht breakfast special that goes to 14:00 good enough if to lazy to leave Soi 7/1 and I find myself going to Foodland more for my first meal of the day.

I would much rather pay the little extra and it's not much fro i Check Inn just a stones throw from World Inn. Better everything there IMO.

  20. Stayed there for a few nights last week. I agree with the positive comments made here earlier and will stay there again. Only negative was that they didn't change my towels when cleaning the room but when I pointed that out in the reception someone came to my room with fresh towels after two minutes so not a big problem.

I kind of liked that I can sit in the bed and watch my date get ready for some action. :D

The glass shower with window to the room is a nice bonus. Shower big enough for two.

It's not such a great view when the post anal sex shit is needed though 55

You can always close the shades, but I like to see what they are up to. The glass messes up photos so I have to step into for a shot.

Has definitely become my hotel of choice. I'm trying a new property to me this week, then to Chiang Mai but will probably book a room through their site for my remaining days.
