  1. TT and I would seriously push Tim at

    http://otelrooms.com/

BUT, ALSO check his sister site at

    http://www.thaihoteldiscounts.com/

As there is sometimes a slight difference in price.

Either way, he'll give you the Agoda rewards points. Over and above, if you tell him you are a Pattaya LB.com or BKK LB.net member, he'll refund you 5% back after your stay if you have a Thai bank account (which regular travellers to LOS should consider)

He is a farang living in Bangkok and knows EXACTLY the service and standard we expect when staying at hotels. Me and TT have used him loads of times and I can honestly say, for service and more often than not, price, he is by far the one I would choose everytime. Because he is based there, if there is a problem, you can call him on his cell phone and any issue will be sorted tout de suite.

WE DO NOT HAVE ANY FINANCIAL AFFILIATION WITH TIM. This is purely down to personal experience.

Give him a shot. You won't be disappointed.

  2. I have about 15 Thai restaurants in my town, and all are fully stocked with either farm fresh Thai students or bitten n twisted Thais who married for visa and are divorced who hit the bar and casino scene. Finding a happy medium in the middle can be tricky :D

As for food, two of my good friends own a few of these restaurants and I have often said to them that they are out-pricing themselves to attracting the mass market. They all said though that the most Thai ingredients are generally imported once a week into the UK and can be quite expensive. They said they can go for general ingredients to try and make it cheaper, but less authentic, but whilst business ticks over nicely, they don't want to take that gamble. The other thing that makes it pricey for the customer is the food prep time which keeps small food expensive.

They said the costs of good Thai cuisine shouldn't be compared to Indian/Chinese restaurant prices (the most popular in the UK for Asian food). They said many Indian dishes are derived for cheaply sourced dried spices and Chinese is terrible for its saturation of MGS as the 'accepted' taste of Chinese food. To balance out Thai food properly isn't cheap when most foods are imported.

As for the excessive fried food, one restaurant tried that here and they closed down within a year as the competition was too strong.

Whilst I don't disbelieve them, I still think they could reduce their prices by around 15-20% or so and still make a decent profit ! (but then again, Im not the one paying the ridiculous council business rates :D)

  3. Good luck with that.

The GPS function on my Nokia is a little too slow to be useful when driving. So I picked up a Garmin Nuvi, which works like a charm over here.

    Hey Trenton,

any idea how much the Thai maps software is for the Garmin Nuvi?

I have one for the UK and Europe, but was thinking about bringing it over with me on my next trip as we are driving around the north of Thailand.

    Cheers

  4. This is weird Slam Man,

I was reading a thread on PLB and saw a large selection of non-Asian LB pics where I thought that the uber-inflated ass had taken on comedic proportions.

I did not want to sound like I was dissing the pics, so I didn't say anything, and then......I read this thread you put up.

I have seen quite a few LBs going for this over the last couple of years. One being Tata from what was Ezy Bar in Pattaya. She clearly asked what the surgeon would recommend for her size and decided to triple what he said :D Equally, a similar conversation must have taken place when getting her silicone implants. Im certainly not dissing Tata, as she is larger than life and this perhaps suits her personality.

Then there are more uber-fems LBs like Laotian princess Jen (ex Ezy, now Stringfellows). My personal view is that she is the victim of fashion and went with what others were getting done. I know her really well and she never ever had a passion for a bigger ass. As more and more got it done, she decided to keep up with the Jones's and had a little done. It was not too bad to be honest, but then the questions, "When is enough a enough" popped into her head and went for far bigger injections. IMHO, it does not suit her uber-fem body shape.

Im not a fan, but then again, I need to keep telling myself that it is about the LB giving themselves recognition and happiness of the body that they want. If we like it, then it should just be a bonus for them.

The pics you highlighted in this thread just show the pain and effort (and £££ $$$$) they do to obtain the body they are after.

  5. Hi mate and thanks very much for this great thread that will affect many at somepoint someday.

As for the UK, I think the tourist visa is relatively easy, for as long as you have return ticket, some cash in your bank and place to stay on arrival.

I think the key point you made is 'TAKE YOUR TIME TO FILL OUT THE FORMS'.

Likewise in the UK, once they have refused your application (any type of visa application) it is THE MOST BUREAUCRATIC office ever. They have clearly made the refusal for the right reason (ie the form was filled out wrongly, or the readers comprehension of what they were looking for was wrong - I'll come to that in a moment), then the only right to appeal against the decision is basically:

    1) Their decision was prejudiced

    2) Their decision was not lawful

    3) The decision breached your human rights

So if you fill out the form wrongly, then as they say in Thailand......som nam na ! (harsh but true).

So do you go down the Immigration lawyer route / agency for checking your forms ??? Perhaps, but I'd say just do research and use the Border Agency, Govt Immigration offices etc for advice if you are stuck. These private agencies can be a major rip off.

The other thing in the UK is that UK Immigration law changes every year, sometimes twice a year. When if comes to showing funds, everyone should read the Pankina case judgement and that the UK have now enforced those rules as LAW, not 'Immigration guidelines' (I won't go into it here, but if you are filling out UK forms, READ THE PANKINA case and new law judgement). It became law on 23 July 2010.

The next BIG law being battled just now is that the new UK Govt are trying to rush through amendments in Immigration rules are that Students who graduate in a UK University will not be given a 2 year post study work visa (if they choose to apply for one). They will be required to go home, unless they are given a sponsored highly skilled job in the UK (ask how many uber-qualified Starbucks trainee Barista's there are in the UK if they have highly skilled job offers coming out their ears or not !). This is in its consulation phase though, but the findings are due out soon.

In the UK, the fiance visa will not give your partner rights to work. That can be a huge issue if you cannot support a decent life for the both of you.

I suppose laws have been set up to stop the scamsters and lay-abouts, but unfortunately, the barbed wire borders seem to snare the honest ones who come for the right reasons simply because they do not know how to fill out the bureacratic and at times non-sensical forms, which I believe the scamsters are well-schooled how to do properly.

  6. Yeah I know, but all forums are being hit like nothing on earth just now. We are catching LOADS before they hit the board, but some will still slip though.

We are promised that the forum software company is working on a stronger fix for all the forums that use their product.

Thanks for bearing with us (and sorry :( !)

    Cheers

  7. Google only shows the first two lines when you search key words.

If you click on the link, you would not be able to read it unless you were a member.

Its a bit of a long shot you describe that someone would google you, register with a forum to see if its you and even then, if you have no face pics of yourself up, I doubt this is a compromise as you may first think.

    Bottom line is......we need Google.

Every single one of us would not know about these forums unless Google indexed part of the content.

Google CANNOT see one word / pic inside Advanced section. We have restristcted that completely.

  8. Yeah the Trip Advisor report is correct about timing the shade issue thing at Gran Suk Soi 6. I never had a major issue with this though as it was always lovely and warm out there.

The pool is big enough for an outdoor cosmopolitan hotel though I reckon.

  9. In that case, you could see if Grand Sukhumvit (formerly Sofitel) Soi 6 will do 2,600 per night. They often have promotion to way below 2000, but will still do an 'early bird' rate of around 2400-2500. Normal rate is around the 2800-3000.

Once booked, try and get a free upgrade to the suites. I've stayed many times and have been upgraded every time.

Probably the best hotel for location and value I have ever stayed at in Bangkok.

No joiners and multiple guests at a time not a problem ;)

  10. Yeah I agree with Trenton42, just go to Nana Plaza LB bars, enjoy the smorgasboard of stunning LBs, pick one (or two :) ) and go to a ST room nearby. You can just walk a few metres behind them to the ST room if you are worried about being seen.

Escort agencies are CRAZY money for something you could get for 1500-2000 baht for a stunning girl (as a newbie you will be lucky to get 1000 baht as they will see you are fresh talent)

You will be paying at least double, possibly triple with an escort. Main point being is that there is no guarantee you will have good chemistry with the LB from an advert on a website. At least if you sit in the bar you can get to know what she is like for 15-20 mins or so.

But to answer your question, absolutely no problems with LB or GG guests at the Grand Sukhumvit in Soi 6, Suk Rd. I've had multiple guests back there and they don't even ask for Id cards that will stay on your booking cards.

Just make sure your valuables are locked away in the safe. Just have enough money to pay her hidden somewhere for you to get without having to go into the safe.

  11. I'm sorry to say that you might have missed it. The promotion was on for only a few days & below is the link that was sent to me by e-mail. It's well worth registering with them for an A-card, it's free. Once you do, they'll e-mail you to let you know when the offers/promos are on, 3 days before it's released to the general public. Give this link a go, just in case.

    http://www.accorhotels.com/gb/promotion/specials/supersale.shtml

Yeah, every year, when they release their promotion, you have to book within a few days of it going live, the good thing is that you can book well in advance of the promotional period.
