Last trip I did Hellfire Pass and River Kwai. Took the bts across the river, a cab to Southern bus terminal, a bus to Kanchanaburi, hired a driver to HP and did the reverse to come back. Early May - the heat was astonishing. I was the only person at the Pass. Quite emotional to stand alone anongst the cutting and imagining the scenes from the war. My respect for those that endured it is immense. Left On Nut at 7am got back to Nana at 8pm had a slap up burger and beer at Bully-s, whacked down a magic pill and headed to Darkside for a truly spectacular fuck with Aof. Travel costs shy of 2000.

I've stayed in @Mind four times and recommend the one bedroom option. The gym and pool aren't much but you don't sound like you'd be too bothered. The TescoLotus is next to the Bts for all supplies and the area is a welcome change from Nana.

$60aud per night is ok for a holiday. Not so hot when you live there I guess.

Well both our correspondents made it back alive so it's 100% safe. So far...

Has anyone tried flying with this airline? I'm travelling in LoS during September. Had ok experiences with AirAsia just keeping options open.

Staple is spot on. Breakfast at MajGrande is worth it. MajSuites is a different story - bloody awful.

I resemble that remark.
555.
I reckon you know exactly what I mean.

I guess the obvious note of warning is to avoid Kuta and the bogan Aussies. Would seriously mess up your trip. I enjoyed Jimbaran Bay - if you're feeling flash the Intercontinental is fantastic. No need to leave! When are you going?

Perhaps they've jumped in too early - the 'gentrification' of lower suk or soi 4 maybe a bit further away than they gambled. For now it'll be a case of how much loss can they bear - same with Hooters judging by the reviews.

Grilled insects aren't just for tourists. There's a market for them as a novelty - look what I did on my holiday- but you can find them in local markets. Crispy grasshoppers with mint leaves- very tasty!

Viva Serviced Apartments at Bang Chak (it's one stop south of On Nut) sent me a reply promptly outlinung their lb friendly policy.

Good excuse for BM's to escape partners/travelling companions on a trip - "I'm just popping out for Mexican food" and the joys of soi 4!

Have you tried sticking a dildo to the walls yet?
Try emailing that one -" dear sir is your establishment guest friendly and will I be able to attach a dildo to the wall? Yours sincerely...."

In a mini bus from Udon Thani to the Lao border crammed in with luggage and passengers I did say my goodbyes as we weaved through the traffic at hair raising speed. Medicinal scotch or two was in order at the hotel!

Just read a report that places Thailand as the second most dangerous place in the world for road deaths (Libya being No. 1). 40 deaths per day! These figures maybe lower than actual because the Thai's only count dead at the scene not those who die in hospital. Majority are motor bike riders - no surprise. So stay in your loom under a protective shield of ladyboy flesh and you should survive your trip.

Send them an email. Book for two guests.

The rooms at Majestic Suites are small but price and location are good. Dawin in soi 4 is good value. Check their website for special deals. Majestic Grande is a step up in price but a great place to stay in an excellent location.

Might have to make a quick trip to PI. Does anyone know a decent taxi/ driver? Will need to make a couple of trips approx 50 kms from Quezon over a four day period. All info appreciated.

Agreed. I like the local feel of On Nut and Bang Chak while being in easy reach of the fun spots. Used to be excellent for Darkside and still is for soi 31 and Em quartier. I'd recommend it to any BM who has the time to explore life outside Nana. Keeps the whole thing fresh and enjoyable.

My third stay here usually book the one bedroom apartment but grabbed a special offer five nights $250aud. Crazy value. Check in was a breeze. Lb friendly. Staff efficient but friendly and happy to help if you make the effort. (Quite a lot of Chinese groups stay and seem to fight with front desk so a smiling, polite farang is a joy) The gym is laughable but you can work out - not a patch on MajGrande- the roof top pool is small but ok to relax in with a beer and an lb in the late afternoon sun. Short walk to On Nut station and food stalls/ entertainment. Also TescoLotus and banks in the shopping centre. 150baht taxi ride to Nana. 42b bts. Good area to wander the side soi's. Soi 83 has a decent muay thai gym - great way to sweat out the beer! Check out Bang Chak too - plenty of good massage places that are cheap and in both suburbs Lb's aplenty although not tottering about in slutwear! @mind has decent wifi, breakfast, safe and has not worn badly over the last two years. Good for a long stay.

Booked three nights through agoda (good deal) beginning of 10 night trip in May. Chose a one bedroom suite. Very roomy with kitchenette, decent tv, comfortable furniture. Bathroom was good with good pressure and hot water. A raised tile at the bathroom door can be an annoying trip hazard but you learn fast! The reason I got such a good deal was that the balcony was filled with an air conditioning unit so was useless. Recommended for a long stay if you get a balcony. Food ok. Staff excellent. No problem with lb's. Check in was slow (I expect this now and zone out) with a lot of paper shuffling and quizzical looks at folders. Warning - don't sit in the ludicrously uncomfortable chairs in front of the desk. Free computer in the lobby. Good location - close to the action but quiet. Decent laundry service - turn left at the front door and you'll find it in the small soi just past the bend in the road. Follow soi 6 up to Suk and you're at Nana bts.
