  1. Last trip I did Hellfire Pass and River Kwai. Took the bts across the river, a cab to Southern bus terminal, a bus to Kanchanaburi, hired a driver to HP and did the reverse to come back. Early May - the heat was astonishing. I was the only person at the Pass. Quite emotional to stand alone anongst the cutting and imagining the scenes from the war. My respect for those that endured it is immense. Left On Nut at 7am got back to Nana at 8pm had a slap up burger and beer at Bully-s, whacked down a magic pill and headed to Darkside for a truly spectacular fuck with Aof. Travel costs shy of 2000.

  2. I've stayed in @Mind four times and recommend the one bedroom option. The gym and pool aren't much but you don't sound like you'd be too bothered. The TescoLotus is next to the Bts for all supplies and the area is a welcome change from Nana.

  3. I guess the obvious note of warning is to avoid Kuta and the bogan Aussies. Would seriously mess up your trip. I enjoyed Jimbaran Bay - if you're feeling flash the Intercontinental is fantastic. No need to leave! When are you going?

  4. In a mini bus from Udon Thani to the Lao border crammed in with luggage and passengers I did say my goodbyes as we weaved through the traffic at hair raising speed. Medicinal scotch or two was in order at the hotel!

  5. Just read a report that places Thailand as the second most dangerous place in the world for road deaths (Libya being No. 1). 40 deaths per day! These figures maybe lower than actual because the Thai's only count dead at the scene not those who die in hospital. Majority are motor bike riders - no surprise. So stay in your loom under a protective shield of ladyboy flesh and you should survive your trip.

  6. The rooms at Majestic Suites are small but price and location are good. Dawin in soi 4 is good value. Check their website for special deals. Majestic Grande is a step up in price but a great place to stay in an excellent location.

  7. Agreed. I like the local feel of On Nut and Bang Chak while being in easy reach of the fun spots. Used to be excellent for Darkside and still is for soi 31 and Em quartier. I'd recommend it to any BM who has the time to explore life outside Nana. Keeps the whole thing fresh and enjoyable.

  8. My third stay here usually book the one bedroom apartment but grabbed a special offer five nights $250aud. Crazy value. Check in was a breeze. Lb friendly. Staff efficient but friendly and happy to help if you make the effort. (Quite a lot of Chinese groups stay and seem to fight with front desk so a smiling, polite farang is a joy) The gym is laughable but you can work out - not a patch on MajGrande- the roof top pool is small but ok to relax in with a beer and an lb in the late afternoon sun. Short walk to On Nut station and food stalls/ entertainment. Also TescoLotus and banks in the shopping centre. 150baht taxi ride to Nana. 42b bts. Good area to wander the side soi's. Soi 83 has a decent muay thai gym - great way to sweat out the beer! Check out Bang Chak too - plenty of good massage places that are cheap and in both suburbs Lb's aplenty although not tottering about in slutwear! @mind has decent wifi, breakfast, safe and has not worn badly over the last two years. Good for a long stay.
