I have been trying to cancel a Thai Airways flight from Bangkok to Sydney. I guess I am not surprised that a SEAsian company has very bad customer support!

I also had a Qantas flight from Sydney to Bangkok booked using Frequent Flyer points. That took about 1 minute and a few clicks to cancel. Just logged into my account, click click click, cancelled. The frequent flyer points were back in my account next day less 6000 points Cancel Fee as expected.

Thai Airways! I have flown them a few times and it is a nice airline when things go well. First of all, I am a Royal Orchid Plus account member but only basic status. In my ROP account, I cannot see my flight booked. So unable to cancel via my account.

When I go to Manage My Booking from the original flight email confirmation, there is no way to Cancel a flight. I can Modify Flight and choose a different flight but no Cancel Option.

I emailed service@thaiairways.com as per instructions on their website. Still waiting for a response to that email after 10 days.

I tried emailing the Sydney Thai Airways office at customer.service@thaiairways.com.au - no reponse so far.

I called the Sydney call centre. They said they cannot help as the flight leaves from Bangkok, I have to call the Bangkok call centre. They did say I could also email contact@service.thaiairways.com. I tried that email, it doesn't exist! Great work Sydney customer service!

I have tried calling the Bangkok call Centre 3 times. Supposively open 24 hours a day 7 days a week. When i call I get a long message in Thai. It then says for English press 9. I press 9, then get a long message in Thai then it disconnects.

I will keep trying but the way things are going Thai Airways will be added to my No Fly List:

    1. Malaysia Airlines - had same issue getting refund for a flight they cancelled - Business class ticket only a few hundred dollars, from KL to Bali. Never got a refund. Long long story, many calls, long waits in queue, many emails. Waste of time. BANNED.
    2. British Airlines - attrocious service and food (but have not flown with them for over 20 years). Got snapped at by one of the fat pasty English bitches for asking for a 2nd drink during the meal from London to Singapore.
    3. United Airlines - flown them 4 times Business Class between Sydney and US. Business Class only has cranky, old American bitches and terrible food! Never again.
    4. Thai Airways TBC

Thai Air are completely useless. I flew with them several times ex Syd because of special deals through Malai Travel  but one flight had a broken seat. No acknowledgement from staff and sought compensation/apology via letters/email/phone & online shaming. Nothing. One flight entertainment system broken. Same deal. Ladt time the plane broke down in Sydney but nobody told us for three hours until a softly spoken middle aged man  came out and told us it was cancelled  only those closest could understand him. Next day we returned and they had no plan or system at all. I worked with a British guy to separate passengers into destinations (London, Frankfurt & Singapore) and we worked with a lone Thai woman to get people on other flights. I ended up on Singapore Air. Will never fly Thai again. (And their whisky is awful).

I stayed there for 3 weeks in February.

Stayed in Square Block which was dated but ok for the price AUD75 pn

Breakfast was very good with a great selection.

Only downside was the number of Nonwhite persons lingering around outside the entrance.

    Other than that, all ok.

Have a word with yourself. Racism is for dickheads.

Hey guys, I am asking here as I did not find a thread for the hotel eleven and several of you seemed to recommend it rather than the Ambassador.

I am considering to stay in Soi 11 in march and both Ambassador/Eleven are options. I wanted to check what the gym looked like and in particular, if it has:

    - treadmill

    - pull-up bar

    - parralel bar/dips stations

    - kettlebel

From what @Alvin_mask said and the pictures I could see, the Ambassador is well equipped. But for Eleven, I could just see two pictures on their websites, showing treadmills. Maybe someone have more details on what is available in the gym?

Did you already have the chance to stay there?

    Cheers!

If you're a serious gym goer then you can't beat the Muscle Factory at On Nut. Bit of a hike but it's the best gym in Bkk. 250bt for a day pass.

  4. I took girl on several trips and found that she loved a private pool villa - couldn't really swim but made an effort (loved sex in the pool ) but at a resort stayed on the lounger under the umbrella looking at her phone. At the beach she would wade out to waist height and bob around.

I imagine an Australian surf beach would freak them out!

  5. I've used Bangkok International Dental Centre several times and always pleased with the result (and cost...also from Sydney so I understand your pain). My lb 'gf' always chided me that it was ek-pensive - it is aimed at farang - but to me it was reasonable and honest.

I think Knobby may be referring to these guys, Bangkok Airport Limousine. 1250 baht for fast track service alone, 1090 baht if you book car service along with fast track. I used them on my very first ladyboy trip years ago because I didn't want to be standing in a long immigration line while badly jet lagged. I haven't had need for them since, but it all went off without a hitch when I used them. It was very efficient and fast. They are not a dodgy outfit, they've been around a long time. Their car service was solid also. Spotless cars driven by sane drivers with good English skills.

I've never used it and have never had to wait longer than 15 minutes to get through immigration but have always wondered if it was value for money.

I landed on the 17th and I booked Bangkok Limousine fast track service.
Am glad I did as my time of landing was 10:40 am and immigration was very busy.
Fast track meant I was off the plane and out of the airport in 10 mins.

Can I ask how much they charged?  One amateurish looking website said 3500b which I took to be a misprint. Another quoted 53.55aud (1300ish bt). There seems to be a huge amount of options (on google at least).

corner room is good but club level definitely not worth 250 was there a few months ago and only paid 120 for a corner room

I think this far out the prices are rubbery. It'll be off season and I'd expect a cheaper rate closer to the time (& with cookies wiped). Saw a vlog o youtube and the club lounge did not look all that special. I thought it might be useful for a couple of liveners for free before heading out to be price gouged in bars, lounges and clubs.

I'm constantly amused by those who fret over how others choose to spend their money.

Good thing that I didn't mention I'm looking at the Kimpton Maa Lai and the Capella for next trip. His head'll explode.:explode:

I've got a trip to Bangkok scheduled and was planning to stay at Phacharra Suites where I've stayed before. The hotel didn't come up in a search and it turns out that it is being renamed ParkRoyal Suites and reopening November 15. I sent a message to their email address to ask what their joiner policies were, but haven't got a response. Anybody hear anything about joiner policies here?

Given its' location and previous history I would be astonished if you couldn't bring a girl in for free.

Cathay Pacific connects thousands of passengers at HKG every day and have doing so for decades. Assuming your 1st flight (Heathrow?) departs reasonably on time, there is no need to worry about missing your connecting flight at HKG. Airlines use algorithms that will account for precisely what time your 1st flight arrived at HKG gate that day and exactly how long the lines are at transit security at that particular moment. If your flight arrives slightly late or the lines at security are longer than expected, Cathay will adjust your 2nd flight's departure time accordingly. There will be other passengers on your plane with the identical travel itinerary as yours and Cathay won't be leaving anybody behind because doing so just creates headaches for them.

I have flown Cathay on several trips to Thailand and transited through HKG on all of them. The longest transit security ever took was maybe 10 minutes.  Lines can move slower at HKG than other airports, but Cathay knows that better than anybody and they account for it. Relax and enjoy your trip.

I pay little heed to travel reviews on trip advisor etc. because many of them are written by Karen-types who complain about everything under the sun.

"I felt the thread count of our towels was unsatisfactory and the doorman didn't bow as low as I feel he should have given the money we paid. And the bath took too long to fill and..." sadly these are often followed by " thank you for staying with us and I'm sorry etc etc". Just once I'd like to see a manager reply " fuck off you whinging miserable old cow. This place is fucking great value!"

My pet peeve is the over enthusiastic first time out of the house type "and we had a flat screen tv...and a kettle! Awesome hotel".

  12. I used to enjoy @Mind although last visit it had become more corporate and packed with Chinese coach tours.  The pool is small but little used and fun for two.....

Citrus Suites has a readonable rooftop area with pool. I stayed there shortly after opening and it had potential for bar and nightime dining etc. Not sure if covid stopped that. Can't remember if any of the rooms had balconies.
