  1. Has anyone tried Haoma on soi 31 recently? If so, is it worth a visit?

    Carry on Only Tips

I always travel with at least three suits so this carry on nonsense sounds barbaric....

Presumably some factory owner in China thought swastikas would be a goid little earner in SEA and didn't really bother with research. Either that or maybe southern Laos is a hotspot for Nazi sympathisers.

This stopped me in my tracks at a store in Pakse.

Men having sex with men is the point of this forum. Looks like it'll be buyer beware for the foreseeable future.

Be warned the pool at G10 is essentially a large bath in the rooftop bar area. Good spot for a drink with your belle de jour.

    Chiang Rai

Fly out of DM early and hire a car at CR. Easy and cheap. The roads are excellent and White Temple is well sign posted. Singha Park is ok for lunch and the Opium museum is a trek but not hard to find. You'll come back via the junction of Laos, Burma and Thailand. Plenty of good quality, cheap guesthouses and streetfood. Night markrt is ok. Up a side street, short distance from the Clocktower are two bars that have Lbs on staff. Midday flight gets you homw in time for fun in lower Suk

    Novotel Suites soi 39

"Big Mango"?? Lol. 0/10 for imagination. 1/10 for hyperbole 0/10 for sartorial disaster . 2/10 for interview salience. The jokes write themselves for this trope. No reflection on you Mikel!! Am glad to be informed about the Novotel. Absolutely agree about the review (no fucking socks annoys the hell out of me). I put it up for the footage of a new (now kaput) hotel and thought some bms might like the lbs. He's annoying and full of himself but so many Bkk (and Pattaya) videos are piss poor amateur efforts that insult the audience with their lack of preparation and effort and at least this looks like they tried.

    Novotel Suites soi 39

You tube channel HeyBigMango review Novotel Suites soi 34 and interview 3 lbs. (A second longer interview with two of them is better). 'Luxury hotel' is an overreach but it looks ok for the money. NB just checked on Agoda and in red is the phrase of the covid era....Permanently Closed.

    Check Airfares for 2022

If you really want to fly Thai then keep an eye on Malai Travel's Facebook page. They often post cheap deals for the Thai community but be quick they sell out fast. (They're based in George st Sydney near Thaitown but get nationwide deals)

    Check Airfares for 2022

Ballsed up the edit. Taken from Skyscanner. Dates May 3 & 24.
  14. There's a lot of bigoted bullshit and as you say 'old man yelling at cloud' stuff but some solid info to be had outside of that - I found the ignore button to be invaluable. You can soon spot which thread will degenerate.
  15. Such a short sighted, intellectually bereft & sticky fingered city hall.
  16. Stayed one night in Sept 2019. Drove up late morning (try and get a lb out the door early!) and had an uneventful and pretty easy run. Booked through Agoda for a little over $100aud. Room was a deluxe 32sqm and had everything you need except a view. Our balcony faced a wall so natural light wasn't great. Bathroom was good - plenty of constant hot water & - a rarity on this trip - the bed was not as hard as concrete. There's a pool but we didn't use it. We headed out soon after arrival and spent the afternoon wandering the temples. Had dinner at an open air market by the river. Breakfast was standard fare and ok but nothing special. Did its' job. (Hotel pics from internet ). Overall a perfectly ok overnight stop. If you need an 'I go for the culture' story for the cynics back home I'd recommend a short side trip to Ayutthaya. The temples etc are worth seeing - it wasn't crowded - and it's beautifully kept.

    The Rock Resort Hua Hin

Spent one night here on the way back from Prachuap to Bangkok in late September 2019. Booked a Zen Jacuzzi pool suite for $209aud. The pool was a shallow outdoor pool surrounded by greenery and seemingly unheated with little sun. The bed was the most comfortable on this trip and the dark quasi traditional decor made it instantly comfortable and quite intimate. The bathroom included a large shower cubicle with a decent sized bath. Constant hot water and pressure. Didn't try the restaurant deciding to eat out at the night market and stocked up on snacks and beer from the nearby 7-11 (what a surprise!) Missed breakfast by, erm, sleeping in late and found a food place that was quick & cheap. The hotel has a bar at the back overlooking the sea and was pretty chilled place for a sunset beer as a dj played (at a reasonable volume) Cafe Del Mar-style tunes.
  18. Can't imagine Peter Dutton looking kindly on "because I want to fuck ladyboys" as reason to travel.

    Anyone for Cricket

I had a plate of fried crickets and mint leaves with honey at a place in Vientiane a few years back. It was ok. I remember seeing the waiting staff & some of the kitchen peeking from a doorway to see what reaction I would have. Big bottle of Beer Lao helped. Ex gf's mum loved durian and we drove countless miles around Rayong finding the best ones. Not half as bad as I expected. I draw the line at ice cubes in beer!

    Grand Swiss soi 11

Have read good reviews in the past and for 4 nights in April I think the location would save a lot of schlepping about. However the executive/club liunge access rooms are quite expensive (180aud). Anyone stayed there lately?
  21. Will be landing at DM from KL in April. Anyone fast tracked through there lately? Looking for recommendations and approximate cost.

    Samed Cabana Resort, Koh Samet

I've taken my lb gf to Samet twice. Stayed at Silver Sands and Avatara at Sai Kaew. Decent places (preferred Silver Sands) and the first trip in Oct 2016 was relaxing and peaceful. Went again in Feb this year and it was swarming with Chinese tourists. Also a noticeable amount of plastic pollution in the water and on the shore. A couple of gripes but still a good place for a short getaway. Took a scooter over to Ao Phrae. The beach was deserted and the resorts look good if a little ek-pensive as the gf would say.

    Millennium Hilton

None that I've ever heard of although you may find some lb's in the malls etc Usual advice. The boat to Saphan Taksin and taxi or train will be your friends.
