Pies2U between Sukhumvit Sois 28 and 30
Danum99 replied to SAGuy's topic in Restaurants, Places to Eat and nightlife
Hey, that really looks good. Added to my list of restaurants. thanks loads. -
Hotel Eleven is situated right in the middle of everything. Food choices abound. The fact that it is a hop away from BTS Nana is God send. The hotel is clean and bright. Wonderful bed and pillows, and it was not crowded. I liked the fact that housekeeping was spot on. Always on time and this is critical with me. Of course tipping is also vital towards ensuring this. I asked for a higher floor but got saddled on the 4th, and I was concerned about the noise from the bars. But after the first day, my fears were allayed. There was some noise but mostly muffled and nothing I could not deal with. Thai on Nine (9th floor) is a great place to hang out for drinks. The breeze flowing through it is wonderful. I did not take breakfast as these hotels serve pork (Adelphi, Parchara, Maitria), which I do not eat. It's a choice i made some 35 years ago, after discovering what pig farmers feed their stock, in malaysia. If there were negatives, I'd say closet and storage space was limited.

This is great. Could you kindly tell me what you ordered?? I just checked it out. It's certainly not cheap. -
Decent pricing. I got the same room. Did you book direct through their app/website? Or third party like Agoda?
-
Yes you’re right. It is soi 13. I checked it in October in preparation for my next 10 day stay in 3 months. I was happy with what I saw. Good rooms, good breakfast among other things. Its just that the walk to the BTS is a pain. Looking forward though. lemme know how yours went. cheers

Well I did have the Executive, their biggest in size. But like I said, the street noise wasn’t that bad. Cindy’s was actually why I got it. It is super for Cindy’s without breaking the bank. i have booked Radisson Suites on soi 15, in early 2025.

Well the rates are certainly on the rise. I no longer stay at my go-to as I no longer can afford their rates. All I do now is check rates on Agoda as frequently as I can just to have a idea and make tentative bookings when the rates go down. Bangkok ain't what it used to be.

Good thai food near Soi 11?

I’d ask you guys to give Bangkok Burgers go. It is at the top of soi 11, just a you come in from Sukhumvit, next to the 7/11 (141 Soi Sukhumvit 11, Khlong Toei Nuea, Watthana). The burgers are cheap and pretty good. most of all, they serve good Thai food on the top floor. I really enjoyed their Tom yom goong, particularly prawns, tamarind prawns and other dishes. The Tom yum came with a good number of fairly large prawns, fresh too and the soup was just glorius. I must have eaten there 3 or 4 times. Although on the top floor, there is an open air area where tenants (also a dorm/hotel of some kind) where guests smoke cannabis. The smell is excruciating. Especially when you’re trying to enjoy your food. -

@ethanhunt - Hey sorry about this. I just spotted it. I have attached a screen shot from Google maps. And the address is 32, 2 Soi Sukhumvit 13, Khlong Toei Nuea, Watthana, Bangkok 10110. There is a laundry shop at the corner but I cannot recall a beauty parlour. -

Hengs kitchen on soi 13 is a good bet too. Service is a bit spotty with the young guy but good from the ladies. Tom yum, tamarind river prawns, papaya salad, crab fried rice. And inexpensive too. -
the carlton, the sheraton and the ambassador. i suggest you call them to verify.

Herehai is a small restaurant, about 25 minutes from Thong Lor BTS station. The food and service was excellent. We had the crab omelette, tom yum prawns, mantis shrimp, and the crab fried rice. Each dish was a feast for the senses. If I return, I would order the same dishes. Service was excellent without being intrusive. Best of all was that the total came to only 2000B, which is inexpensive. The only issue is the wait times as the restaurant is very small so the lines are long. but if you love Thai food this is really a must visit. This is on par with Jay Fai. Dan

Hey I'm glad you did. Try my recommendations the next time around. I already called them for reservations for my visit in October. Dan -
Recommendations for Free Watermarking Software
Danum99 replied to SAGuy's topic in Technology and I.T Forum
Hey there @SAGuy. When I used them many years ago, I used an ONLINE version called "iloveimg.com'. And I just checked and they are still there. There's nothing to download and there's a free version too but limited usage. We paid a few dollars a month, for the premium pkg when there was a need to use the service repeatedly. I don't know the full details of using it as one of the clerks did the work, but I do know that it is easy to do it. There are many others if you require the work to be done 'in-house" but, as you said, there a software requirement. Hope this helps. So you're doing photo editing for whynot? Don't you have enough work to do? Dan -
hey there @Rodrigo, hey there buddy, i am in bkok in oct this year and am booked at radisson suites. first stay at 29,000B. then i read 'I stay in soi 11, I stay in Citadines as the rooms are fairly spacious and the crowd who stay there is not that bad' and i checked the rates and it seemed like a better proposition ( i have been retired for some time and with no income, i need to perhaps look at alternatives). i was just wondering whether you could spare me a line or two about citadines 11. the rate is really attractive and some words would convince me to change. i am fussy about cleanliness, esp daily housekeeping. and i think you may have inferred that the area is safe (i am an old man). i am also looking at reviews to help. thank you in advance. dan

15 day sim could cost about 800B. I usually pay 500B for roughly 12 days.
-
This is cheaper than the Tourist plan at the airports. What about calls buddy?
-
Yes it does. there are a number of shops just as you exit suvarnabhumi airport and they have tourist packages.

Ah! Thank you for the trouble. There’s one at the central embassy. good reviews too, although prices appear to be higher than average. I certainly would like to try that one out. thank you again. -

you forgot the name? That’s nice. any chance it could be ‘Authentic Thai food & curry‘ (it may be a poor translation from Thai) restaurant? -

You should. It is a worthwhile wait. the other consideration is to try and get their Line contact. It is readily available on their social media posts. I started bugging them for reservations 2 months before I left for Bangkok and they finally gave in. before this it was usually ordering through Grabfood. dan -
Maitria is close to both the MRT & BTS stations, roughly 650m, so this is always a good thing and it is something I always lookout for. The walk to trains is comfortable and fast. I have been with Adelphi Grande for the past 7 years (roughly 2 visits a year) and have been comfortable with them. Unfortunately, staff turnover is very high so that’s a negative. Before that it was Parchara Suites on soi 6 (now Parkroyal). The people at Maitria are good. Well most of them. Housekeeping is spot on, and this is very high on my list. I never fail to see housekeeping, already cleaning rooms when I leave at 930am. Breakfast was a little sparse (although coffee was good), but I guess that is to be expected at this price point. There is a small laundrette in the basement, which is a useful feature to have. The room layout is awkward, and furniture placement makes it very difficult to move around and be comfortable. So this was a negative for me. Not something I’d care to repeat. The bed was spectacular, one of the better features in the room but I just wished the WiFi connection was better. I booked the studio grand deluxe, 2,600B nett per day, with breakfast. I had planned. 2 week stay with them but I came down with Bronchitis while on a food binge in Yaowarat on the 2nd day. Doctors on the 3rd day, and I got a flight back home on the 4th day. All my plans, down the drain!!! Ah! Well. Dan

Yeah! I read his earlier this month on Agoda. I think he was hassled or something. I wouldn’t pay any heed. dan
