    Korean BBQ

My Favourite Korean BBQ is in Time Square Building just over the footbridge from Robinsons - its the first place you see as you cross the footbridge and while looking quite basic, IMHO the food is superb. I have eaten in some of the others in that square you mention but I always keep going back to the Times Square place for the last 10 years.
  2. I was looking at it last week and thought to myself - get two breakfasts and play marbles with the sausage balls  But I agree with you totally - its a waste of time and one bite and its gone. Bully's does a good breakfast as does the pub in Soi 8. I have never had Breakfast at the black swan as I cannot be arsed to walk that far but a few guys I know who live in BKK swear by it for the general pub grub being up at the top of food chain.
  3. Bus stop seem to have slightly changed their breakfast - nothing dramatic but the tiny sausage is now even smaller and the hash brown is about 3 times larger. Still suits me down to the ground as I am past the days of cholesteral loading breakfasts and this hits all the right buttons for me - not too big but not too small. Still got the rubbish splash of juice in a glass of ice but that is typical everywhere.

Cheap Hotel With Pool Near Nep

Rajah Mansion used to be minimum of one week stay, but I am told it now has daily rates at 800b night. Worth investigating for a budget stay as the rooms are quite OK and it has a pool. The fact your just above Guess Bar is also a plus and 100m walk to Nana Plaza. http://www.rajah-mansion.com/index.html
  5. You can stay at Rajah Mansion now for 800b night which is located directly above Guess Bar. One of the cashier girls was telling me that the other night - might be worth considering - it would make it about the best value in Soi 4 if its correct. Not bad rooms either but forget any bells & whistles like room service.
  6. Just read your comment again and would an anecdote given to me by the Thai MD who ran the multinational I was working with when switched to the Bangkok Office. He said, to a Thai, every road leads to Bangkok. If you want the best people, you will get them in Bangkok, as that is where the Thai people aspire to work and make their fortune. Once done, they may well head back to wherever they came from and take care of their family. The same analogy could equally apply to ladyboys - the best of the crop are in Bangkok, of that there is virtually no debate. Not perhaps the femboy look, but for shapely female looking ladyboys, nothing comes close to Bangkok. Why? Its where they earn the most money - simple really.
  7. If you have limited time, Bangkok makes much more sense - just choose a hotel in Sukhumvit Soi(street) 2,4 or 6 and you can walk to all the action. No need for any taxi's, trains etc. In Soi 4 you have over 300 LB's spread across 5 dedicated LB venues and if you tire of that, just grab a taxi down to Patpong where you have another 60-80 in two more bars. The biggest single advantage is oddly enough, how compact the LB scene is in Bangkok. In Pattaya, its spread over 30+ venues - all of which require use of public transport to get around. Its not impossible and actually quite straightforward but for sheer volume in one place, BKK is impossible to beat. Its like comparing shopping in a hypermarket to boutique retailers - BKK is the hypermarket, with everything in one place and Pattaya its much more spread out with much less staffing per venue (i.e often you only see 5-10 LB's per bar in Pattaya, but in BKK 30 up is the minimum). My strong suggestion would be to book your first couple nights hotel in Bangkok and see how you go - its easy to get a room in Pattaya if you want to head down and a cab down there takes about 2 hours. Stay in any of the suggested BKK hotels like Dynasty Grande, Dawin, Majestic suites, Majestic Grande and you are spitting distance from all the action and nice hotels as well.

    Citadines soi 8 & 11 (updated 2014)

I have stayed at the Citadines in Soi 8 and 16 - both studios were identical and spacious but not huge. Very well equiped incl kitchen with microwave, electric hob, cooking stuff, plates etc. IMHO a great place to stay - the one in Soi 16 is 50m from a Foodland supermarket that is open 24 hours day - the one in SOi 8 is not as well located its very far down the soi and there is nothing around it apart from condo's and a French restaurant. So for me, Soi 16 is the better location - couple mins walk to the BTS/ungerground station at Asok. Also I have stayed in the one bedroom apartments and I think they are a relative waste of money - the lounge area is like a corridor and bedroom is tiny. For the difference in price, the studio is much better value for money and feels more spacious.

They probably do but often you will end up just walking its not very far - maybe 400/500 meters to the Majestic Grande

Aspen Suites soi 2 (Updated 2015)

I know of many guys who use this hotel and all highly rate it and stay there again so I can only assume it ticks all their boxes. Its quite far down into Soi 2 which is a dead end soi so little traffic noise and the building construction around it seems to have completed now so it makes for a quiet stay. Its certainly NOT as well located as Majestic Grande which is much further up the soi and barely a 100m walk from Sukhumvit Road itself.
