    Public Areas with Free Wifi

More great info. Point awarded. Very valuable stuff for us guys who can't be without net. I've heard some hotels are charges a pretty big premium for WiFi (600 baht for 24 hrs) I guess the larger hotels know they can get this from the business travelling instead of throwing it in as a perk like others do.

Good info KWL. Good to be able to have free access when away. Generally you can count on 1 baht per minute in the city. You gets cheaper as go further out.

    Public Areas with Free Wifi

Interesting. i would be hesitant to give them my details as well. Can you give them bogus details to get through? I wonder how much this varies with McD's from country to country. It seems like I heard forum users logging on in LOS without problems. Its stange how some filtes cacth some forums or sites and not others. We need some resident IT to clue us in how this all works and if there are ways to get around or through these filters. In Oz I'm sweet at McDonalds but it just takes so long.

    Pj Watergate?

Are you talking about this place? The Amari Watergate? The only thing I know is its close to Panthip plaza. which is a great place to buy anything to do with electronics. Six floors of cut rate prices on anything from computors to movies. A lot of pirated stuff over the counter. but who cares when you can get a name brand 32 gig memory card for 1000 baht. I'm not sure of the LB scene around this area, but I recall a BM on another board saying he picked up a quickie during the day with a LB. In 3 trips to this place I saw one LB. Not a good enough ratio to hunt these grounds but certainly you will find an electronic bargain. Be careful with used goods. If you do buy something new remember you can claim a goods tax at the airport with a reciept. This is true of all goods. Accomadtion, and services no dice.

    Charge To Bring Lady Back

These charges or joiner fees can and should be avoided. BM's should band together and not to patronise these establishments. They do it to discourage p4p customers that may offend their targeted guest by trekking through the lobby's with short skirts and 6 inch heels clinking smelling like cheap perfume and cum breath. I have heard of some hotel charging up to 2000 baht, and even reducing this price when the customer objected. this tells me that hotel staff is probably getting what they can and pocketing the rest. If I book something over the internet, I book for 2 adults which is the same price. Upon checking in they enquire about the other persons name and I tell them TBA "To be announced" I've tried this a couple times and it worked out ok. The old Madrinan in BKK had a security guy at the elevators who stopped me one evening. He wouldn't let me take my choice up without clearance from the front desk. When they pulled out my record they pointed out TBA and I told them what that meant. They tried to say it didn't match name on the LB's ID, but eventually one who spoke a little English explained to the others and they wrote me out a hall pass so I could proceed. After a short time and a freshen up I went back out again and pushed the envelope by bringing back a 2nd LB. The same guard stopped me again and the desk tried to say it had to be same person blah blah blah. The guys behind the desk gave away to the new girl that I had already brought someone back. I could care less, but still. Anyway they eventually caved in and up we went. The money grubbbing hotel got the last laugh on me when I didn't return one night until 3 or 4 next day with a ladyboy who I spent the night with at her place. No late check out, so I figured I would just pay another night. However instead of the 900 baht internet rate for this dump they hit me with a 1600 rate as I recall. The next morning I took a ladyboy to the buffet breakfast and we stayed as long as we could eating, drinking, and making little sandwiches to take with us to her place the next night. She really got into the spirit taking every roll of toilet tissue, tea bags, from the loom. I think the place eventually burned down. Since I found the forums, I never have this problem and only patronise lb friendly establishments.

    Skytrain To Bkk Airport

Heres a site that has all the latest news: http://bangkokairporttrain.com/ A large number of the prospective passengers showed interest in traveling on the test run of the 28.6 kilometre route (Oct14)Wednesday, according to the authorities, but full-scale commercial operation is not expected until April next year. Further trial runs will be held on Oct 21 and 28 and Nov 4. Daily trial runs will be held from Dec 5 to April. Was supposed to begin in August, now delayed until December, but we can't expect it fully up and running until April.
  8. I have to agree with you all the way around Mick. I learned this way back in my early days. I took a lb (who later achieved star status) from BKK to Patts for a weekend. Shows you how much of a rookie I was bringing my own to Patts. anyway I took her to that Hard Rock Cafe and when I saw the menu I realised the prices where higher than Hard Rocks in some Western locations. Anyway i looked at her and could tell she wasn't thrilled so we finished a drink and didn't order. I told her to pick any place she wanted. We went to this Thai resteraunt not far away. It was fantastic and so much food, and most of all she was happy as. Since I have always let them pick the wherever they wanted pretty much and never get taken from some overpriced grub. Seems like whenever I devaite from this and try some western place I always leave hungry or angry that I spent to much. The only thing I miss is the occasional Pizza. I quickly learned not to eat at Pizza Hut or Pizza Company. They are over priced, bad service, and just not that good. Found a place on Patpong II called Marco Polo's which is open 24/7. It offers a great veiw as barworkers walk by. At 2 A.M. it gets real interesting. you can get Tiger Beers for 60 baht and Heinekens for 70 baht. Its right across the street from Kings Garden and next to foodland. whereever their is Foodland near pay for play areas you know there is ladyboys. A new bar was just going up near the alley that goes to Patpong I. Thai and Western dishes alike. May not impress a ladyboy you bring but good place to go when hunting in that area. You could literally sit there all night and real them in with some eye contact.

Arriving In Bkk And Need Taxi?

When you get out of baggage claim and customs there will be pushy people seeking you out trying to sell you that 700 baht ride to Nana. They even hire good looking women to suck you in. Don't do it. It may look quick and easy but the fact is you will fill out paperwork and they will ask you where your going. then the driver gets a piece of paper and often has no idea exactly where your going. The second phase is this outdoor taxi meter que on the first floor. Here you que in a long line then pay that surcharge of 50 baht, then there is more traffic going out of airport in this area. Remember go to top level and go down to your right and look for taxi's that have just dropped people off. They will often look for a next fare instead of going around and getting in the que. They win and you win by doing this. Its all allowed. You'll always save time and money with this option.
