The Solitaire looks like a really nice hotel. Can anyone provide feedback on their stay? How’s the walk from NEP to the hotel... looks like it’s about a 15 minutes walk.

Yes I stayed there last week. Walking to Nana is quite a hike and it would take longer than 15 minutes. What google maps don't show are the crumbling sidewalks, Indian trinket booths, food carts, Arabs families loitering, beggars, etc that you have to navigate on the way. You can take a motorbike taxi to Sukhumvit for 20  baht, and then connect whatever way you want from there. There are also cabs and tuk tuks available. If cab is on the meter, NEP would be about 50 or 60 baht.

My room was a bit on the smallish side, a mid-priced room I can't remember what is was called. However, the bed was the largest I have ever seen - much larger than a king size. I had 2 LBs spend the night with me a couple of nights and we could have easily accomodated a 3rd girl for 4 people total.

The bathroom had very little counter top space, which is something I hate. I like being able to put all toiletries on the counter top next to the sink, but I couldn't do that. The closet was tiny and there really isn't anyplace to store undershorts or socks except in  your luggage.

24 hour room service is not available, which is another negative. The restaurant itself is nothing special, but the food is decent both in quality and price.

I know this comes off as a negative review, but I wouldn't have any problems staying there again. However,  if you want to stay in this area at a similar price you can get more bang for the buck at Grand Swiss on soi 11 or In Residence on soi 13.

One last thing:  they don't take IDs of guests, which is something to be wary of if you plan on bringing a freelancer to your room.

Has anyone stayed at the WESTIN GRANDE SUKHUMVIT. Are the LB friendly? I will be staying there in December but don’t have too much info on them. This will be my first time in Bangkok and with a LB. pretty excited. Thanks for any info

If you look at post #34 in this thread you will see I emailed them 3 times and they never responded, but obviously that was a few years ago. You should email them yourself and ask them about guest policy and if they don't answer you, I would consider that a red flag.

Just trying to be helpful so if somebody searches it in future it’ll pop up.

It is a prominent hotel, so you did a good deed by pointing it out. I think most guys here already avoid booking rooms in the Arab quarter for just that reason.

Didn’t see any posts on this hotel. Location, room rates, recently renovated rooms are all good but not guest friendly.

A hint as to the reason why they're not LB friendly can be found when you google "Grand 5 Hotel Arabs" and get 83,500,000  results.

Below is a typical review found on tripavisor.com if you need more convincing...

I've stayed at the Majestic Grande for years, but it's showing its age and is being taken over by Hilton in 2019.

Searching for a new place, and the Solitaire looks very nice. But the obvious question: does anyone know if it's guest friendly? Ladyboys allowed?

Any other info on the hotel would be appreciated. Thanks!

I know it's late in the game, so Bwana may have given up on this question. I myself have a reservation at Solitaire for upcoming December trip, so I emailed them to find out their guest policy. Below is their reply. It looks like they frown on getting blow jobs in the restaurant, but everything else is a go ladyboy-wise.....

    Dear Mr. *******

Thank you for your email to Solitaire Bangkok Sukhumvit 11,

The joiner is free of charge however we do require them to present and leave their ID card at reception desk upon arrival and they are not allowed to be in any hotel public area.

Should you need any further assistance, please feel free to contact us.

Thanks for the reply ...and i wouldn't be sad about those pics :hubbahubba:

So no issue with ladyboy guests then, the orange pool looksa bit weird though.

The tile in the pool is actually a rust color instead of bright orange. It looks unusual, but isn't unattractive. Last time I stayed there in February, soi 13 was under construction and was closed to vehicle traffic between  Sukhumvit and the hotel. You have to travel up either soi 11 or soi 15 and use a cross street, but it's no big deal. The front desk does not take IDs of guests and they are LB friendly.

  7. A BM wrote a review a while back, and he took some pics (click on Pajitas replied to a topic).

I have stayed there myself a couple of times, in 2016 and again early this year, and wrote a few words about it. Sadly, the only pics I took were shot the bathroom shower (see below):).

  8. Just email them and ask "Can you tell me what your guest policy is? Can I have a ladyboy friend stay with me at night?" Make sure to mention "guest policy" and that the guest is a ladyboy.  If they fail to answer, scratch them off your list. If you make a reservation, reserve for 2 guests (won't cost any more than 1 guest) and there is no need to provide a name for the 2nd guest.

  9. If the question is about what seats are available for selection, on Cathay's website you can run a dummy booking and choose seats on the next screen after putting in a bogus name and contact info of passenger.

Like Dav says, you may want to look at premium economy. I flew their premium economy a couple of years ago Tokyo-Hong Kong. The seats are fairly similar to what is found on their regional business class.  Premium economy 1st pic, business class 2nd pic.

  10. The lobby is small and often very busy. They don't make a habit of asking for IDs and because I knew all girls in pics very well, there was no need to stop at front desk. If you aren't well acquainted with an LB, for your own safety you probably want to have the front desk take her ID.  Otherwise, just make a beeline for the elevators.

Taking 2 girls to the room are no problem. I don't know about taking 3 guests. Just make your reservation for 2 people, so at least you will be partially covered if questions arise. Good luck.

So this trip is the trip where a gang bang is to be :)

thx so much for Oliver for suggesting Citrus 11, it seems just perfect with the extra bathroom, although the bedroom is a little small, but im sure we will manage :)

And compared to the 5 star hotels I was looking at this is less than half the price of their basic rooms, AND i get an airport transfer for free.

Looking forward to report back on my adventures :)

Citrus 11 is excellent value for the money. The traffic gets backed up on the soi out front, and you can often save time by just hiking down to soi 3 to get a cab there. From Sukhumvit, you can take a motorbike taxi up 11 for about 20 baht. The hotel restaurant is fine, but nothing special. Around the corner is Firehouse Hamburger (one of the best you will eat), The Australian, and other Soi 11 restaurants.

A little bonus....Below is a photo I took at Citrus 11 of Sofie a few years back, right after she got plastic jugs installed. Back then she was cute, mentally stable and pleasant to be around. These days she is none of those things, sad to say. But we sure had some fun in that hotel, LOL.

Just bumping this up on the hope someone has stayed in the Junior Suites ag the Royal President. Need to book soon going over on 15th August.

    thanks guys

This website is better for pics and reviews of hotels. The pics are professional, but they were taken by Oyster instead of provided by the hotel. There are 47 pics of suites. Oyster.com beats the hell out of Trip Advisor, expedia and the others for hotel info.

Anyone had an issue with The Contential and LB guest.  I have a room booked for 2 adults, but really only me.

Do you mean The Continent at Sukhumvit and Asok?

I have stayed there once in the past. They are LB friendly. They also don't have a problem with taking 2 girls to your room.

  14. I have stayed at Galleria 10 twice. Mikel gets it right. A couple of things to add: The lobby restaurant tends to get overwhelmed at breakfast. It's often hard to get a table quickly and it takes a while before tables are cleaned. The wi-fi on upper floors and at the pool can be dodgy.

It's a 5 minute walk up to Sukhumvit or CIB. Galleria 10 gets very little traffic out front, so if you need a taxi to take you and your luggage to the airport, be prepared to wait 15 or 20 minutes for the bellhops to fetch you a cab.

Don't know if this is important to you, but they do not take IDs of guests at the front desk. While you don't have anything to worry about with girls from CIB or Why Not, you may want to keep this in mind if you bring in a freelancer.

  15. Ive had an iPhone 7 well over a year with no problems. Now it will work as it should for hours or even a day or two, but then suddenly it becomes uncontrollable touchscreen-wise. Scrolling stops, jumps between pages, normal shutoff impossible, but I can do a hard reboot, which usually fixes the problem for at least a few hours. I keep the cache clean and all updates are complete through ios 11.1.1. Any advice? I am on the ground in Bangers near Nanacan anyone recommend a good repair shop? Thanks

At Terminal 21 on the very top floor near the movie theaters there is a phone repair shop / accessory store. It's catty-corner from the movie theater and a fairly good sized place. Last year ladyboy JJ's Iphone looked like it had been through a nuclear war with smashed screen and software issues. I thought it was a lost cause, but they fixed it good as new within a couple of hours for about 1200 baht as I recall. There are also several dedicated phone shops for all of the Thai phone companies on the top floor as well.

  16. I have stayed at Galleria 10, about 1/4 mile down Soi 10 from CIB. Mid-priced hotel with small but nice rooms. LB friendly and I am sure

most of the CIB girls are familiar with it. There is also a small hotel (it's not the hostel shown on map) on Soi 10 within rock throwing distance from CIB - I can't remember the name of it, but a BM here posted pics and a brief review as I recall.
