    OTS's Hotel reviews

I have stayed at Citrus 11 before. Walking distance to Nana is about 15-20 minutes up Soi 3, but you are better off taking a scooter taxi, tuk-tuk etc. The crowds on the sidewalks of Soi 3 can get very heavy. Same-Same situation if you are going to Check in Bar from the hotel. Citrus 11 is not inconvenient at all, just a bit further out than some of the other hotels.

    Fatalities

I feel safer on the back of a BKK scooter taxi than I do in some of the taxis and car service vehicles that have taken me from BKK to Pattaya. Some of those guys don't mind cranking it up to 80 or 85 MPH on the highway while weaving thru the traffic. You just hope your driver isn't a meth head.
  3. Everything you can imagine is on Soi 4. Vendors setup carts directly in front of NEP and they extend all the way down on both sides of the soi to 7 Seas restaurant at the intersection of Soi 4 and Soi 6. Soi 11 also has good selection as well, but most of them are quite a hike up from Sukhumvit.

    Wall Street Inn Silom

It might be easier to email the hotels and ask them about guest policies.
  5. The Sofitel on Sukhumvit at Soi 13 is LB friendly.

    Hotels

You can do a general check of rates on Agoda. Type in Bangkok and then check off the Sukhumvit area box. You will see a map in the corner, which will show you where and how much for hotels in lower Sukhumvit. You can also read the hotel section of the forum, read BM reviews and get more info about specific hotels from a mongering perspective.

    Flight ratings (2015 updates)

You will love the A380 bar. My last flight to BKK was on one of those planes, and that bar was wild and loud over a 12 hour flight. Emirates also doesn't have a problem with passengers mixing their own drinks back there, like a Pakastani guy was doing on my flight. He was pouring tumblers filled to the top with Johnie Walker Double Black and serving them to the rest of us, and the girls didn't say a word about it. You want to avoid having a seat in the smaller rear business cabin because the noise coming out of the bar is loud and constant throughout the flight. Sit in the larger forward cabin. The business lounge in Dubai is good and very large, and when you fly back home the Emirates lounge at BKK airport is truly outstanding. I am flying them again to Bangkok next month and can't wait. It's a great way to kick off your trip and will get you into the swing of things.

    Phachara Suites

No, they signed everybody in who I took into my room. They just didn't charge me anything extra when I checked out, and they never mentioned anything to me while staying there that there were guest fees. As said before, their email to me discussed 1k baht for more than one episode per night but they didn't follow through with any charges when I stayed there. If you read through the guest policy thread from a few weeks ago, you will see that the Landmark replied that they charge 1k baht, but BMs who have stayed there say in reality they don't charge anything. In the same thread, Phachara mentions this extra guest fee as well as their policy, so their can be flexibility. Ask them about it when you check in, and then make plans accordingly. I just relate what my own experience was. You are right, it is the ideal place for Nana and the lounge bars and every ladyboy I have taken there was welcomed by their staff.

    Phachara Suites

I stayed there in January / early February 2015, I took 2 LBs for separate sessions on several nights. They never said anything about it, nor charged me for it. Some days I would take GGs there during the day and then ladyboys at night. Nothing happened and no charges for anything. I also stayed there in 2014 and there were also no extra guest charges of any kind. I too had heard about this 1k baht fee for extra sessions last year, emailed them and got the same reply you received about 1k baht fee for second girl. Sometimes the "official" policy and what actually occurs in practice are not the same. Others may have had a different experience than me, however.

    Hotel Guest Policies for Ladyboys

I didn't contact many hotels on Soi 2 or Soi 4, because everybody knows that virtually all of those places are guest & ladyboy friendly. I did want to email the Marriott on Soi 2, but could not find an email address on their website to save my life. They have mailing addresses, phone numbers listed but no email. I know the Marriott is LB friendly, but I still wanted to find out what their official guest policy is. I hope other BMs will contact some hotels and paste their replies in this thread. Just ask about their guest policy and tell them your guest will be a ladyboy. I knew Icheck inn was guest / ladyboy friendly, but did not know if they charged a joiner fee. I don't know why some hotels ignored 3 polite requests to outline their guest policy. That's why I do appreciate the places that did explain their policies, like Solo Hotel on Soi 2. I emailed them at what was 4:00 am Bangkok time and they replied a detailed response within 15 minutes. I am impressed by that kind of service, and it says a lot about what sort of place Solo Hotel is. Many of the smaller properties in Hall of Fame are owned by Compass Group, and they all replied quickly and positively as well.

    Hotel Guest Policies for Ladyboys

I added 7 more hotels to the original post today. I have several more emails out that have not yet been answered. I will give those another day or two to reply. If they haven't responded, I will resend the requests. If they don't respond for the second email, I will post them here as non-responsive, and guys can reach their own conclusions about their hospitality toward ladyboys. Hard to tell which practice is more odious - the (several) hotels that charge 1K baht joiner fees, or the Ambassador's 20 baht charge to run a girl's ID thru their copier machine.

    Hotel Guest Policies for Ladyboys

Out of curiosity, I sent an email to the Mandarin Oriental asking what their ladyboy policy is. So far, no response. I probably won't be hearing from them.

    Tablets for sale in Thailand

Here is the website for a Hua Hin store. It looks like they have a big selection of stuff, but if this is indicative of eletronics pricing in LOS, you probably won't find many bargains there: http://www.invadeit.co.th/brand/samsung/tablets/ I think its a myth that electronics are inherently cheaper in Asia than in the west. They always seem to cost the same or even more there. I have noticed this when shopping in Japan and S. Korea and even China.

    Phachara Suites

This got my attention because that was exactly my strategy in January. Every night I would take one LB out of Nana for short time, and then bring another girl back to stay overnight. One day I even took a GG beer bar waitress in the afternoon, and then had 2 seperate LB episodes that night. They never said boo about any of this, and did not charge me a single Baht for it. I emailed them yesterday. Me: Can you tell me what the room guest policy is? I have heard that Phachara now only allows only 1 guest to be brought into room every 12 hours. Is this true? Phachara: Warm greeting from Phachara Suites Hotel. Thank you for your email and many kind to stay with Phachara Suites Hotel. Please be infirmed (sp) you that you can bring your joiner or guest to your room free of charge for the first person per night and the second person we will charge 1,000 THB Nett per night as well. We looking for welcome back and see you soon. I take this to mean that the only charge will be if I have 2 girls stay overnight, and not 2 girls within a 12 hour period. In December, I will report back exactly what the policy is after finding out first hand.

    Phachara Suites

I think they will charge you for more than one girl. I have a reservation with them for December, and it reads "Maximum Occupancy 2 people", and this is repeated 3 times on the confirmation as though they are emphasizing that fact.

More spacious rooms with pool on site?

You can try Phachara Suites on Soi 6. That is where I stayed. Their website shows rooms as low as 2141 baht for September. That's a little pricier than what you want, but they have a lot to offer. The rooms all have washer / dryer as well as kitchens. A restaurant is on site. They also have a pool on 7th or 8th floor and a nice gym. The pool is unheated. In January when I was there, the water was so frickin' cold I thought I was going to have a coronary. In September I imagine the water is perfect. They keep the property spotless, it's LB friendly. Guess Bar is a 2 minute walk, Nana about 10 minute walk. That's where I am staying in December this year and I really don't want to stay anywhere else.

    Flight ratings (2015 updates)

If you can swing it, Cathay will also have good premium economy seats for probably a couple of hundred extra than regular economy. There is a real difference between the two. Wider seat with more legroom, much more comfortable for long flights. Some airlines "premium" economy seats are just rip-offs, but Cathay's aren't.

    Flight ratings (2015 updates)

Discussing merits of various alliances is an endless, endless thing. Each have their own advantages. If you don't acquire many miles, maybe you shouldn't put much stock into which alliance is the best and just fly whatever airlines you want to fly. I'm primarily a OneWorld guy myself, but Star is fine also. Don't know much about Skyteam. I did a quick look at LAX - BKK for a sample trip 7/17 to 7/31 and see that Cathay Pacific is charging $3900 round trip business class, about $2800 less than what they normally charge for that route. This is a bargain that can't be beat with a stick. That is less than bottom-of-the-barrel Philippine Air is charging. Cathay is one of the very best airlines on the planet. Their IFE is the best of any carrier, and their airport lounges rock. This would be about my first and only choice. Other good options flying out of El Lay are Korean Air or Asiana. They will both be flying A380's to Seoul and will have a lot of seats to fill, so there may be some good bargains to be had. Both airlines will have Emirates-like cocktail bars in business class on the A380's. Korean Air also just opened a fancy new lounge at LAX. Plus, Korean flight attendants give me a hard-on just thinking about them. Might be worth looking at these two. As a rule of thumb, the ones to avoid are any US carriers. Air Canada is about the same. No reason to fly any of them. Why be miserable on a North American carrier when you can fly with a good Asian carrier for less money and be a happy boy when you arrive in Bangkok?

Online Flight bookings - who do you use?

Here is a good primer for using advanced codes with Matrix that allow you to plan routes using specific airlines or routing thru LAX or NRT or wherever: http://hackmytrip.com/2012/09/using-routing-language-with-ita-fare-matrix/ You can't book trips with Matrix. Instead, you print up your itenarary and either give it to a travel agent or call the airline directly. There is no way for the consumer to input the all the codes into airline websites. I use Matrix for my flights, and it has always been my experience that giving the codes to a TA is easier than trying to book codes directly with the airlines. The airlines act as if you are pulling their teeth out when you read out all those booking codes to them over the phone. TA's are happy to do it for you because you have already done all the legwork for them.
