Coming on back to BKK
- 2003-2015-39 trips, as recorded by entry stamps(not counting returning to Bkk side trips to Phnom Penh, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Hoi An)
- 2015-2022 -"0" trips, as dictated by family needs here in USA.
- 2023(September)-returning to Bangkok as life and COVID have changed.
I need hotel advice for a two week stay. My past choices included the Grand President and the Solitaire (Soi 11), the old Majestic Grande(now Doubletree, on Soi 2), Citrus (Soi 13), as well as some small places on Soi 8(?) and Soi 22, and a series of comp' stays at Soi13's Trendy condominium.
A comfortable bed for pleasure and pleasures, fitness /pool/breakfast included, and easy access to new and old mongering venues are all preferred.
Any and all advice, thoughts, and so on would be appreciated.

Tell that to the diabetics of the world. Unsupervised, unprescribed T-shots are crazy
But the are no different than any other intramuscular shot you may take, and very easy to self-administer,

I ate more than few times at their 23 Sukhumvit location. A hop, skip & jump from my usual Sukhumvit haunts. If I wanted treat & impress colleagues or friends to a spot, this was it. One evening, the day before a Royal Family occasion(a birth celebration, a birhday, something) , a Thai couple/colleagues and I were seated in the garden while a Family celebration dinner was underway in the major room. The older princess and two children from the group came over to our table, reducing my guests to a humbleness, then introducing me "Khun Dr. Bob." I didn't kneel but did perform an appropriate deep bow.
Baan Khanita-23 also had a tiny bar upfront that was a welcome, quite respite from the usual haunts.

The electrolyte re-hydration stuff they sell at the pharmacy are worth taking...don't be alarmed if it makes your piss go a weird colour!
See my post above. If my colleague had that stuff. he would have been at lower risk of dying.

Imodium effectively paralyzes the intestine. Not a go-to remedy. My doctor guided me back to pepto-bismol brand in USA, but any bismal containing concoction wherever you may be). Standard dosage to start, double in an hour if not okay, and then double again as necessary. After that, and nothing works you need a doctor. One time in Bangkok. nothing worked to cure explosive bouts, so to speak. After emptying out, I took a taxi to BNH, emergency. They put me on intravenous fluids and antibiotics, within 30 minutes I was well on path to recovery.
A guiding word. I lost a 38 yo otherwise healthy colleague to diarrhea, he was about 18 hours suffering, drinking lots of water but no food. He got up at night, drank some more water, then fainted. . He was driven to a Miami hospital, suffering a heart attack as the car got to the hospital entrance. They used standard emergency procedure, shock paddles, air bag, but he died. The autopsy showed severe loss of electrolytes. Basically, his nerves were firing, but he had limited conductivity to the heart muscles. Parents know, rush a child to the hospital if they show 10% weight loss. It's an adult problem too.

18 hours before my flight to USA.
I came down with a severe case of diarrhea for which I'll spare the details, but the toilet was a "bridge too far" from the bed, and I had to wait for a lull to grab a taxi BNH. Before leaving gave the desk a message that "clean-up needed on Floor 11."
Less than five minutes later after arriving ( I was registered previously over the years) I was in an ER bed. They examined me, did some tests, then an antibiotic mix and fluid dripped in. Temperature normalized and chills disappeared.
Went back to the hotel, tipped the maid very well, slept a bit, then out for a night of ladyboys. Made my Bkk-NRT-ATL flight feeling fine, even grabbing a light breakfast selection at the First Class lounge.
The entire bill from BNH (including a take-away RX), was $60 or so, reimbursed by my USA employee health insurance as a "emergency!" I did not file it as Workers Compensation

As flipflops notes. this should be done only under a doctor's care, one well enough acquainted with your medical history to access and advise you regarding the benefits versus the risks.

Most countries I visit have the same policy.
This is happening at Immigration and so far, not on the street. The arrival card asks for your accommodation information . Apparently people who left that section blank were previously allowed to clear immigration in the past. With a new boss at immigration and a general crackdown on visa overstays it should not come as a surprise.
By the way here are links and quotes from the stickmanbangkok website.
https://www.stickmanbangkok.com/weekly-column/2019/01/more-thoughts-on-thais-in-kiwiland/
"From a long-time reader comes word that when passing through Immigration a couple of weeks ago everyone was being asked to show proof of accommodation which meant much rifling through documents and phone / tablet documents."
https://www.stickmanbangkok.com/weekly-column/2019/01/soi-cowboy-a-new-mobile-phone/
Another email to the site:
"Being prepared at Immigration.
On Immigration officers asking for proof of your accommodation in Thailand, this is something that is done all over the world. When one flies into Thailand they are given an Immigration form on the aircraft to complete and on the form it clearly asks for the name and address of the visitor’s hotel or accommodation in Thailand. I can only assume that some people are not completing the form fully and correctly and are ignoring or missing out that part of the form. On a number of occasions I have queued up at Immigration waiting in line to be processed and there are some who have not completed their forms correctly or fully and they hold up the process much to the annoyance of others as they are either stuck at the desk filling in the missing parts of the form or are sent away to complete the form fully and have to rejoin the end of the queue. My advice is to take the time to complete the form on the aircraft, and if in doubt ask a fellow passenger to help you. Always keep your essential travel documents, passport, hotel reservation form etc on you in a safe place to produce to Immigration when asked. Be organised or expect to be turned away."
When at a hotel, I simply enter the hotel name, having the reservation form on my phone "in the event."
Similarly, never had a problem when I stay at a Thai family's home(LT friends) in Pathum Thani. "Name + Pathum Thani entered." Street address & phone on my phone, for taxi driver as well. (and, for the driver, a sheet printed in Thai with driving directions...usually there is a literacy gap, so they will call my friends and get verbal directions).
40 trips & no problems.

4:58 AM (3 hours ago)Dear Patients,
As many of you may know, our hospital is moving to a newer, bigger and better location next year by the end of February 2018 as attached.
We realized that we could not add any more space to improve our dental services and parking facilities for the increasing number of patients at Dental Hospital Sukhumvit 49. Many patients prefer to complete their required dental procedures in a shorter period of time. The important thing is that we do not want to see our patients wasting valuable time for not being able to receive the highest quality dental treatments in a limited amount of time during their visit.
We made the decision to move to a new location situated in the T77 Community Sansiri, a rich lifestyle hub on Sukhumvit 77 about 4.5 kilometers from Sukhumvit 49, surrounded by a green environment and conveniently linked to other parts of the city with either the main Sukhumvit Road, On Nut BTS Skytrain Station and nearby Expressways. Access to and from is fast and easy, with benefits from the neighbouring HABITO MALL facility, parking and shuttle bus services including BANGKOK PREP INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL, GARDEN SQUARE, PARK COURT and a canal that runs along Sukhumvit 77 (On Nut) Road, making it a popular new location for Thais and foreigners to live, work and visit.
Our phone number will remain the same +66 2 260 5000 /-15 until we move to our new location which will take on a new number +66 2 092 2000. Our contact email address will also remain as dental@loxinfo.co.th with the additional new e-mail address as dental@dhbangkok.com . For more information, please view this video about our new facility and location of Dental Hospital Sukhumvit 77.
We look forward to serving you with the best dental care and services at our new location next year.
Sincerely,
Dr. Kriengsak Jaruthavee

Have you looked at Chrome books, laptops that run Chrome OS. If you do a lot of typing, you're going to want a keyboard, one advantage of a Chrome book.
The Chromebooks, however, have limited processor capabilities that tend to slow things down when movie watching or have more than one screen open.

Rankings Sooooo Sad, So Sad. Missed completely Trump Airlines

Do not look for an early resolution. Tillerson goes one way...the Wild Man the other.
""On Friday afternoon, Mr. Tillerson called for a “calm and thoughtful dialogue” to resolve the deepening dispute among Sunni Muslim states in the Persian Gulf. Barely an hour later, Mr. Trump’s comments were anything but that. He accused Qatar of being a “funder of terror at a very high level” and demanded that the tiny, energy-rich nation cut off that money flow to rejoin the circle of responsible nations."

CNN reported US authorities(FBI contingent) are investigating in Qatar the alleged Russian hacking of the official Qatar news agency and the planting of the false story ("Qatar shifting to support Iran and Israel") that gave rise to this crisis.
On CNN, US senator said that this hack destabilized the whole region for less than the cost of a single MIG.
Trump didn't help either: he took credit for prompting the Saudis, et al, into action.

Just a thought...
@qr.qatarairways.com is an address within the qatarairways.com website
(as support.ibm.com is within ibm.com)
The tricksters often use something like @qatarairways.qr.com to look familiar, but here there is a website qr.com, inside of which is qatarairways.qr.com
So, either the offer was legit, or someone hacked the qatar site and is using that address to commit fraud. Not unheard of at all

Giving oral
- STD's, other than HIV, are always a risk ulcer or not, with no precautions other than abstinence (or as noted above physical barriers ---condom or oral dam) working.
- With HIV chances are increased. HIV is a weak virus, highly susceptible even to saliva and upper GI fluids. But a mouth ulcer, even micro abrasions from tooth brushing, etc. within a 2-3 hour window (assuming your healing process is normal) of giving a BJ, "opens the door."

Still waiting for a Spanish or Mexican restaurant in Bangkok that serves Menudo/Callos a la Madrileña/Mondongo soup/stew
(aka tripe). That's a simple test on authenticity.

I feel safer on the back of a BKK scooter taxi than I do in some of the taxis and car service vehicles that have taken me from BKK to Pattaya.
Some of those guys don't mind cranking it up to 80 or 85 MPH on the highway while weaving thru the traffic. You just hope your driver isn't a meth head.
Meth head taxi driver...had that experience once. Coming back at 23:00 in a taxi from Yanhee Hospital. On the expressway the driver was weaving in the lanes, laughing hysterically about the blinding rain. I considered getting out on the expressway, but opted instead to redirect to the original Guess Bar. Enjoyed a 3-sum in the ST room, and then slept calmly that evening!
