47 minutes ago, xcom said:cant stand hotels that require a card to use the lift, i like the landmark is my fav but begrudge the price. I am thinking about petals inn on soi 4 or @mind in bts on nut for my stay in a few months
I’ve stayed at @Mind a few times and take the one bedroom suite and it’s only a couple of quid more and well worth it.
previous post I did on the hotel
@Mind Executive Suites Sukhumvit Soi 85
I have already posted the pictures above a couple of posts earlier the day I arrived. I had meant to do a report on the hotel there and then but with one thing another (drink & LBS mostly) I could not get it done.
Here is a brief outline. After arriving at 9.30 at the airport and I had not made an early room booking. I decided to take the airport link train and change at Phaya Thai BTS to the hotel in On Nut soi 85 It takes about 5 to 8 minutes walk from On Nut BTS to the hotel that is just inside soi 85
To my surprise I could check in to my 1 bed room suite straight away. First thing I noticed was how new things were and how clean it was. The rooms are of good design with a dining table for two at the far end of the room from the balcony Sofa (can be made in to a spare bed) and table with a flat screen tv & dvd player. Kitchen as everything you need including coffee, tea sugar and a kettle. Plus a microwave too. Its as a large refrigerator not a mini bar
There is a balcony with a sink to wash shorts etc after swimming or you can use the balcony to smoke if that's your thing.
Wifi was excellent in both bedroom and lounge room
"two flat screen tv's in one in bedroom and one in Lounge room. The same with Air con which was nice as you could leave lounge on low for breakfast in the morning. Rather than have to wait 10 - 15 minutes for it to cool. I was given two key cards and kept one in the key slot to keep the rooms at a low cool temp.
Bathroom as shower with a rain shower above.
LB friendly as I brought two back on my first night and one back each night after that for the five nights I stayed there.
Location. Well it's pretty far from Nana to walk but 15 mins BTS 37 baht and 70 to 80 baht coming back in a taxi

Nice to be back up and running again and hopefully KendoUK can iron out any final issues.
I was enjoying the break myself.
Well done in getting it back up Kendo & co.
Couldn't you break it for a couple of months next time though

Excellent review mate and accompanied with some fantastic photos.

The road works started back in 2017. As this Soi used to flood every time it rained hard. They dug up the Soi and put a new drainage system in.
I remember my mate had to park his car further down the Soi to pick me up as he was taking me to the airport. The water was knee high.
I now normally stay at Citrus 11 but use the pool in 13 as it is just a 10 minute stroll away. Though I always get reception to ring a head and leave a card for me to use the lift.

Stayed here for 3 nights from 15 to 18th Nov.
New Hotel and all rooms as pictures, clean spacious and well equipped, Hot water was a bit random at times and Air con seemed to be at a constant output no matter what temperature i changed it to, but it wasn't an issue although at time slightly cooler would have been better.
I have previously stayed soi 18 but wanted to be closer to the action and this certainly gives you that, i had inquired about guest/ladyboy policy prior to booking and as was stated no joiner fees or ladboy policy, although additional guest would be charged for, but this was easy to get around as i will mention in my trip report.
This is a joint hotel with IBIS on the other side which is quite a bit cheaper but i did not like the look of the rooms, The Pool/ Roof Top bar and Gym are shared with Ibis & Novotel and i was concerned that the Pool are would be overcrowded but it was not a problem any time i used it.
Only slight niggle was the fact that you had to use your key card in the lift to access your floor, i only came down to meet one guest as the others arrived with me but you can get free Access to floor 24 and go up a small flight of stairs which takes you to roof bar/pool (floor 25) so if you wanted to meet here it would not be an issue.
I would definitely stay here again the ambiance and views from the roof bar at night are great and less than a 5 minute walk from Nana and chaos 9.
Fantastic review and have been looking at this and a Citrus Soi 6 as the two choices of hotels for my next trip

I thought I’d seen Siam Man do a review of here. Things must have changed these days

im looking at moving on from the current hotel I stay at. I’m interested in any feedback on
Rembrandt hotel on Soi 18. Guest friendly ect .
thanks
lotus
Stayed at The Rembrandt Suites which is connected to the hotel by the underground car park
The large living room consists of TV, music center, work table for laptop, dinning table with four chairs and a kitchen with oven, microwave, kettle and a large fridge, the bedroom was large enough as was the bathroom. A fresh bowl of fruit each day and a daily paper in English. The room was on the 12th floor and there was a large swimming pool on the 11th which we could see from our windows.
Tv in the bedroom as well as the living room

If I got it right, there are Bell minibuses that pick you up from the hotel, then you get in another bus (at the airport?) and then transfer to another minibus. Isn't that time consuming?
The direct Ekkamai - Pattaya route seems less fussy, but they don't take you to the hotel, right? What would you prefer?
it’s not that time consuming as everything is laid on for you when you do the bell bus service. But yes it did go to the airport to pick up some more passengers.
I much prefer Ekkamia to Pattaya for its speed but at the end of the day door to door taxi for 1200 baht is much better
-
Bell bus will pick you up in a mini bus and transfer you to a bus and when you arrive in Pattaya, they will transfer you to a mini van, which will take you to your hotel. Think it was about 300 baht when I used it in 2011
-
Buses run from Ekkamai bus station to Pattaya and it’s just next to Ekkamai BTS. Three stops from Asoke BTS.
when you arrive at Pattaya bus station their are baht buses or motorcycle taxis that can take you to your hotel.

Anyone know if Dynasty Inn (one next to NEP) is guest lb fiendly please
Thanks
Yes stayed there many moons ago and have stayed at all the Dynasty group hotels and all are LB friendly

Lol this is a very rare appearance on this site

Without knowing what your budget is, if you are looking for big room( suites are 55 sq m) at decent rates, you may want to look at Citrus 11 on Soi 11. The suites can be had late may for about 2100 baht. They have 2 full bathrooms per suite, which comes in handy when you bring 2 girls with you. I know One True Saxon has stayed here as well, and I think he liked it just fine.
Indeed mate I love place. Stayed there half a dozen times now.

You’ll see the odd ladyboy around. Especially it the food hall in Tesco Lotus and the usual food outlets such as KFC, MacDonald’s and Starbucks.
I do remember a stunning ladyboy having a stall of moblie phone accessories and even took her to lunch. No idea if she’s still there, but was game for it.
As Mikel as said it as changed a bit with the night market getting knocked down and replaced with Condos. I used to spend many a good night starting off there listening to live bands and the food stalls were the best around. It used to attract a lot university gg’s and lbs.
i know what you mean about Nana being in your face when staying there. It’s good to get away from it and relax.
