Just finishing a 7-night stay at the Citrus Suites Soi 6. Overall, my impressions are very positive. I was upgraded to an executive suite, which is quite spacious. Lots of pictures to follow. My room was on the backside of the hotel, so virtually no noise from Soi 6. The walks from the hotel to NEP, Chaos 9 and CIB are all short and easily done. Never saw the need for a taxi, and the girls I brought back were fine with the short walk. And speaking of girls, there were no issues bringing the girls up to the room. We'd drop her ID off at the desk and hop on the elevator located directly across from the desk. The executive suite has two rooms--living room and bedroom--separated by a bathroom. Both the living and bed areas have their own AC units which are controlled with an LED touchpad. There's a door that can be closed between the living and bedroom areas. The living area has a decent LED TV, a medium-sized refrigerator, and lots of seating and lighting options. I made good use of the chairs in front of the one large mirror with a couple of the girls. The bathroom has both a shower and a tub. I had no issues with water flow or temperature with the shower. The amenities provided (shampoo/conditioner, bath gel, etc.) are basic, but I bring my own, so not a demerit as far as I'm concerned. The generously large bed was very comfortable, and I'm picky about beds. There was a second smaller LED TV in the bedroom. Again, lots of lighting options for setting the mood. Additionally, there is a desk and chair, and lots of plugs and a dedicated USB port for all the devices we bring. I often run short of plugs for my e-goodies, but not here. The view from my room (8th floor) was uninspiring, but not something I care about. I use the room for sleeping and fucking, and I'm out and about the rest of the time. The pool area on the 10th floor is small, but had the advantage of being barely used by others. There were umbrellas and lounge chairs and towels. One night my guest and I went up and jumped into the jacuzzi, having the place to ourselves. The hotel staff seemed attentive. I didn't place many demands on them, but all my requests were immediately respond to. I tipped the housekeeping staff daily and asked for extra towel...no problem. They left me 6 towels every day. I was a bit disappointed with the breakfast buffet. After having stayed at the Majestic Grande for the past 10 years, this buffet seemed fairly basic. They do have a chef making eggs to order, but the rest of the buffet is run of the mill. By my last two mornings I was heading out to have breakfast elsewhere (expensive, but the JW Marriott has a great buffet). I would happily return to this hotel. For my purposes, the location can't be beat. It's a short walk to my favorite LB shopping locations, and a quick walk to the Nana BTS station. There are some fabulous restaurants in the basement and on the 6th floor of Central Embassy, which is just a 10-15 minute walk away (if you like serious Neapolitan-style pizza, Peppina is the real deal, with 4 locations in BKK).

Valentines Day Suggestions?

I've taken a few ladyboys to the bar on the roof of the Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit (at Soi 57). Stunning views perfect for the required selfies. https://www.marriott.com/hotel-restaurants/bkkms-bangkok-marriott-hotel-sukhumvit/octave-bar-and-lounge/5428678/about.mi -
The 5th capital sin...
Bwana_LB replied to Privateluca's topic in Restaurants, Places to Eat and nightlife
This is precisely why I skip Pattaya altogether. I've had many world-class meals in BKK, and never a one in Pattaya. Even in the mid-range, Bangkok has it all over Patts. I'm wheels down in Bangkok in 2 weeks and I have a list of restaurants to hit. -
Where do you buy your toys in LOS? I haven't seen a shop, given that they are technically illegal.
-
At least 40 trips into BKK and my bags have never been inspected or scanned once. I wouldn't worry unless you're bring some massive 350hp nitro-fueled dildo.

I've stayed at the Majestic Grande for years, but it's showing its age and is being taken over by Hilton in 2019. Searching for a new place, and the Solitaire looks very nice. But the obvious question: does anyone know if it's guest friendly? Ladyboys allowed? Any other info on the hotel would be appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks, Oliver. I've decided to go with Citrus Suites on Soi 6. I'll post a review of it afterwards.

You don't like the generic version (Apcalis)? Much less expensive, and available at most pharmacies. I've used it for years and find it true to the original.

Stayed at The Siam (Dusit), and had no problem, but she was dressed like a model.

Mexican restaurant at old Paradise location- Nana

True. Every Mexican restaurant where I live serves these dishes, but I can imagine they'd go over like a lead balloon in BKK with the tourist crowd. Don't hold your breath... -
Mexican restaurant at old Paradise location- Nana

If the food is decent, I'm going to love having this place right outside the door of my hotel (Majestic Grande). I used to hit Sunrise tacos on occasion, but the food there, while not horrible, was a pale imitation of real Mexican. -
Best ever? I've stayed there 3 times, and the bed was fine, but not as good as the ones at the Majestic Grande on Soi 2, and certainly not one of the very best I've ever slept in. It is a better than average bed, in my book.

I get a kick out of posters who claim they've never had an STD, saying "I got tested and came back clear." Or "I've never had a single symptom." Fact is, for most men, many STDs are asymptomatic. Sometimes you'll get a bout that will cause you pain and discomfort (the ol' pissing razorblades syndrome), but in other instances you'll be infected but won't have any symptoms. But, being infected, you'll be infecting others if you're going BB. This is especially a problem with HPV, which is almost always asymptomatic in men, and there's no test for HPV in men. The upside is there aren't too many risks for men, aside from ugly warts that might develop, but for GGs it's a different story. And since HPV is epidemic among sex workers (probably as close to 100% as you can get), it's a near certainty that we've all had or have HPV. And there's no treatment for HPV. The warts can be burned off, and the virus usually clears all by itself among men after a few months, but until it does, you are a carrier.

Actually, the MG has rooms of various sizes. I just booked a Grand Deluxe for my next stay. It has plenty of room for photos. The smallest rooms (Superior) are a bit cramped at only 28 sqm, while the Deluxe has 40 sqm. I guess my one complaint is that the closets are a bit small. Pretty minor complaint. They have a good exercise room and a very helpful group of people in their business center.

I remain for happy withe the Majestic Grande as a base of operations. Obviously it's a bit more expensive than many other nearby options, but sometimes you really do get what you pay for. For instance, I've stayed at the Dawin and Heaven @ 4, and both have deficits that have kept me from coming back. At the Dawin the bed was a bit like a stone slab, and the AC was impossible to control...I was either hot or freezing. Heaven@4 seems a bit run down even though it's relatively new, and I had similar problems with control of room temperature, which makes a big difference for sleep quality. The Majestic Grande seems cleaner and better run than most of the other options I've tried, excepting the substantially more expensive JW Marriott. The staff is very professional, and handle every request I toss their way. They have a concierge who's actually knowledgable about the area and has given me great restaurant tips. My guests are always greeted with courtesy, regardless of whether they arrive in a classy black dress (as ShaSha did last night) or total slutwear. The rooms are pretty spacious, with good workspace, adequate storage for clothes, and a small sofa and two chairs that can be used for extra-curricular activities. My room has a decent 46" TV and a CD/DVD player with a USB connection for music. Small quibble: I hope they upgrade to BluRay at some point. The bathroom is also spacious, with a separate tub and shower, and all the amenities one might want. Water pressure is excellent, as is the supply of how water (a problem I've had several other hotels is that the shower temps vacillate wildly). I have usually found the best deals for rooms on the hotel's own website, especially if you're willing to pay up front for the room. The so-called discounters like Agoda add on fees and taxes that always bring their prices above those I get from the hotel website. I'm in a deluxe room this time and paid about $96 US/night, including breakfast. The breakfast buffet is quite good. Eggs prepared to order, juices, cereal, lots of fruit, breads, pastries, sausage, bacon, potatoes, and a full Asian breakfast. Pics: 1. Comfy bed with lots of room for bed sports 2. View from room...can see Cascade sign at NEP 3. Shower 4. Living/work area 5. Tub

I'll be staying in the Majestic Grande next week. I looked into the JW but the prices really have gotten a bit ridiculous. I have fond (but old) memories of paying $90/night when they first opened. And the place was really cheap during the Asian financial crisis years.

Which online travel agency do you use for hotels in Thailand
Bwana_LB replied to Siam Man's topic in Hotel Reviews
I've mainly used Agoda, but for my coming trip I found that I was able to book directly with the hotels (Page 10 in Pattaya, Majestic Grande in BKK) at rates better than Agoda. Agoda's rates look better at first blush, until you realize that they don't include taxes and other "fees." The hotel websites do include those fees and taxes, and in these two cases I did better by booking directly.- 34 replies

I've also decided to spend at least a couple of nights at the View Talay 6 during my August trip. I am stuck for 2 nights at Page 10 because of a pre-payment, but will shift to VT6 after that.

Fortunately, I keep a separate FB account for my LB friends, so none of my "straight" contacts will see unless they are out friending Thai ladyboys on FB. -
My favorite is Shahrazad, which is located on the left as you walk up Soi 3/1. It's set back off the street a bit, so be careful not to go past it. It's mainly Egyptian style food, but there are other Arabic styles as well.
-
Soi Arab is Soi 3/1, not Soi 5. It's sometimes called that because many of the businesses and restaurants there cater to Arabs, and a majority of the people on the street are Arabic. There are some terrific restaurants along this Soi.

Most smoking rooms reek of smoke. My guess is you'd probably not enjoy one, as the room will smell strongly of smoke (i.e., it'll stink). I always go with non-smoking rooms. I generally choose non-smoking LBs and GGs, and if I do take a smoker, I tell her she can't smoke in the room (aside from smoking me). It's never, ever been a problem.

You're confusing the Rajah Hotel http://www.rajahhotel.com/home.html with the Rajah Mansion http://www.rajah-mansion.com/index.html Two different places located close to one another. The Rajah Hotel is a total dump; the Rajah Mansion, as Bkkladyboy notes, is a nice place intended for longer term visits. I usually stay in the Majestic Grande, and the Rajah Mansion is pretty much across the street and slightly to the left. I've been inside and the rooms are very nice. When I checked, they wouldn't take a booking for just 7 nights.
