  1. i just called to find out if they are currently under renovations, but they can barely speak a lick of english. she must have thought i was saying "reservations", and kept trying to direct me to the website. so i asked if there was construction going on. no understanding of anything i said from that point on. i asked if there was anyone else there i could speak with. i asked if there was a manager. she said she was not there. eventually with no responses, the lady just hung up. can anyone verify if they are currently doing renovations? i would assume that it would be uncomfortably loud, and would not be interested.

since i arrive late tomorrow night, i'm going to book at the nana hotel for tomorrow. but more than likely will need a nicer place for the remaining five nights. any info or suggestions would be great. thanks!

If your on the ground i would really appriecate an update of what exactly is going on and if it is only confined to deluxe rooms.

Ask for Bonnie or Mint on the front desk and they will answer any questions you have.

When work starting, how long etc.

  2. Will you be streaming movies or downloading them? If you want to download anything, don't get an iPad... If you just want to stream from websites, surf the web and check emial... okay iPad is an okay option. But as soon as you run into a situation where you want to connect to a TV or monitor via HDMI, use a USB device or download a full program like Word or Excel, you'll wish you hadn't. My iPad basically gathers dust because it doesn't do anything my iPhone can't, and it can't do anything that my tablet/laptop hybrid can.

    Thanks for all your help.

Why is an ipad bad for downloading? Clash of software?

My background is a windows 7 desktop.

I want basic things like email ,surfing, downloading (porn)

filling in web based forms etc, streaming movies and sports.

  3.

Agree 100% re not enough sun.

It isn't the most appealing pool area to laze away an afternoon and work on the tan.

It is a shame because it is so close to Nana and guest friendly ... it's a conundrum!

Would think you will get toasted at the pool in the adelphi suites in soi 8.

    I could be wrong.

  4. There is quite a few brew pubs over in Silom.

This new one Mash Bangkok looks very good, just opened yesterday.

16 rotating taps and nice looking burgers.

Not easy to get a real good burger in Bangkok so have to check this one out.

    meant to be good.

  5. I can't justify paying 5 star pricing.

Stayed at the Landmark club rooms first time i visited Bangkok 4 years ago.

Very nice but for a cosy and friendly hotel the Adelphi suites on soi 8 is hard to beat.

Close to everything but a bit more soi atmosphere. Good food and drink and a mix of ex pats,

travellers from all over the world and local business farangs.

Think they may tried to put there pricing up.
