c. Ask the airline they will knowI have a trip to BKK coming up and will be arriving in BKK April 30 and leaving on May 22. My passport expires November 16, 2016. The passport has to have 6 months validity from what date? The date of entry into Thailand (April 30)? Will I be able to get a 30 day tourist visa on arrival even though the 6 month date will occur while I have it?
I tried to obtain info from Thai government sites, but have not gotten a definitive answer. Can somebody point me in the right direction, and provide a link to preferably a Thai government site to answer this question? I can get my passport renewal expedited if I have to, but it will cost me $200 US to do so, and I am trying to avoid that expense if I can use my current passport to get entry on 4/30.

Do you mean Mae Sot airport (Tak) ?
http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/content/150530
After reading the above article, something's wrong in the explanations given about the incident. The pilot explained he had been confused by a farm smoke near the runway. I couldn't locate the hospital under construction, but whatever the explanation, the pilot is out of the safety standards one can expect from such a a professional aviator.
yes the spelling varies i have noticed from sod to sot.
-
You will be ok now for awhile now they have had a near miss .
phew thanks i was a bit worried
-
nok air nearly lands on hospital in mai sod airport(cow paddock) yesterday evening. thai visa has the story and judging from the readers submissions it doesnt have much in the way of the basic safety devices. makes me worry as i will be flying there in 2 months. dont know what is worse crashing or the thought of a bus ride.
-
no bacon at breakfast but good muslim food. i liked it but after a heavy nite its a bit of a walk i agree patchara suites is better located

The FAA is down grading Thai aviation not Thai visa they are only passing it on. Trust the FAA or Thailand up to you .
-
it does have a bearing as the rating system grades each airline each year. the service side yes is a popularity poll. but the safety side is governed by the faa and other agencies on their record and their aviation safety agency which has been showen to be a joke. as Indonesia is .
-
Who has downgraded? I mean which Aviation Authority?
look up airlineratings.com also on thai visa story hppt://whatsonsukhum...nes-for-safty/
-
thai air down graded to level 4 (Qantas, singapore cathay etc is a 7) nok is a 2, bangkok air is a 3, thai orient i think is the worst on the list and airasia thailand also is a 2. so why is thai air charging so much they are not a 1st world airline any more. its sad really i fly thai a lot only 7 hrs to bkk from perth

You would increase your odds of finding her exponentially if you posted a photo of her. You would also be better served posting this in the "anyone know this bird.." section of the forum. Alternatively a post on the Charades bar thread would have been your best bet in my opinion.
great thanks for the advise

has anyone seen this girl or have a loom report on her, just saw her on ladyboyladyboy and she looks hot.

Well, I've just gone through the process with Thailand Elite for a 5 year Privilege Entry Visa (PE Visa) and have this morning received confirmation of my Membership nr. I had been considering moving back to Thailand for about 2 years when I received some good news 2 weeks ago which accelerated my decision. Once I had made up my mind that starting a new chapter in my life, thus moving back to Thailand, was the right decision, I re-acquainted myself with all the Thai visa options available. I'm 46, so not eligible for a retirement visa, which means it would have to be a Student Visa, the new 6 months visa, various multiple-entry options, the PE Visa or just go in and out via the 30 days visa exempt system. After weighing up the various pro's and con's of each Visa, I decided the PE Visa was the easiest option around. Sure, it costs 500K Baht, but over a 5 year period that's not so much more all the other options would cost either when taking visa runs into consideration.
This is the timeline it took for the membership to get sorted:
- Sunday, 22nd of November I asked for info via the Thai Elite website ( http://www.thailandelite.com/index.php).
- Monday, 23d of November I received a reply with explanation, requirements and application form (6 pages).
- Monday, 23d of November I emailed them a scan of my passport, scan of a picture and the application form in pdf format.
- Tuesday, 24th November Thai Elite emailed me acknowledging receipt of my application and explaining the procedure. Main point was that they were waiting for Immigration clearance which could take 5 working days.
- Wednesday, 25th November I received confirmation that my application had been approved by Immigration and was given bank details for remittance of funds.
- Monday, 30th November I transferred the funds from a UK based HSBC Premier Account and emailed them the remittance details.
- Wednesday, 2nd December they emailed me acknowledging receipt of funds and informed they were in the process of setting me up on their system. Membership ID nr. would follow in a couple of days.
- Wednesday, 2nd December, a few hours after their previous email, I received my membership nr, together with some practical information
