I was doing some quick research on Doxy and looking at the possible side effects.
Seems to me amoxicillin would do a decent job on its own and it's easier to get in nearly any pharmacy in Thailand.
I do have an appointment at Dean St clinic in London before my next trip so while getting my usual tests done and PrEP I will see what they say about this.

Just by coincidence, I received this email from them recently, which you may find to be of interest:
I got that hence creating the thread

I use PrEP when I go to Thailand but can that be taken with PEP?
Or is it too much at the same time?

Without revealing all my plans I will be going to Thailand intending to stay up to a year starting from June.
I won't reveal how I am going to do it yet but I have this question,
Being English and with a UK passport, We all know I will get the standard 30 days ( unless it's still at 90? which was temporary)
So I will be leaving Heathrow on a one-way ticket. I did this before in 2019 but I did have a ticket (genuine) to Cambodia as I had a week there.
The bloke at the check-in desk picked up right away that I was on a single and said I couldn't enter Thailand on a one-way ticket. I had the Camboida ticket so I showed him the booking as he was happy.
This time however is different, the visa I hope to get means my passport will be sent away and I will get a 90-day extension while the visa gets issued.
How to get out of Heathrow on a one-way ticket?
Any tips apart from actually buying a genuine ticket which I will end up not using and is a waste of money?

Big update,
Flight cancelled
I got an e-mail the other day from Air China telling me the flight from LHR to PEK had been moved to another now later time.
This meant I would miss the connection to BKK and spend a night in the airport.
No thanks, I don't think so.
So after phoning them, I cancelled the whole thing. They have acknowledged the cancellation request and said they will pay it back. Mind you they hadn't taken the money from my card yet.
I noticed on Skyscanner the flights advertised by them have changed, now 20 hours to BKK instead of 15.
I would imagine others have been cancelling.

I have seen mixed reviews about the airline. Mind you I have used Cathay Pacific & Ethiad and while I didn't totally "hate" each of those flights I was very underwhelmed with the experiences.
I am not expecting perfection, 5kg carry-on limit, maybe not the best meals and maybe the screen won't work (so I read)
I can get around these factors, Get snacks to take on at the airport, take my laptop with movies loaded and kindle and do the neck pillow work around ( take out the stuffing and fill it with things like socks and t-shirts)

Update.
Booked with Air China.
All the other airlines still to much for me.
EVA dropped to £700 but still a high price.
Air China £556 and the seat selection (4 seats) free!
17 hours going , 20 back.
Flight times work for getting the train both ways to Heathrow and back.

Am really thinking of booking with Air China, Looking at Sky Scanner for £550 with 4 free seats from Heathrow to Bangkok in November.
That is nearly £500 cheaper than the flight I was looking for, which was Emirates from Stansted. The price from Stansted is nearly £1000 plus 4 seats
Looking at reviews for Air China the carry-on is only 5kg, the meals and inflight entertainment are not the best, and some reviews say the screen wasn't even working.
Thinking about it I could take on sandwiches and snacks, take my laptop loaded with movies and TV series.
I could get around the 5kg limit by taking my laptop stuffing some things in the laptop bag and using self-check-in. In the past using self-check-in nothing got weighed when you only got carry-on.
Then if the screen doesn't work or the selection is rubbish I got my own entertainment. Taking snacks gets around the meal choices.
So, what do you think?
Go for it. or wait and see if prices drop for other airlines and airports?

Interesting.
Am thinking of going back end of April.
Always have thought it would be nice to have a fast track at LHR.
When you used this Kingdomguy what terminal was it?
I looked on their website but no "premium service" with fast track is mentioned?

I had room 366 BTW.
-
It was fine for me.
Room over looked the pool on the 3rd floor.
Kettle and cups but no coffee provided.
Small fridge and safe.
Shower was fine.
Bed a little on the hard side for my liking but I manged to sleep.
Joining fee,
The higher cost room you book the more guests you can have with less cost.
Room I booked meant 1 guest free but second guest was 500 baht.
If I had booked the top level room then 2 guests free.
I had no problems during my stay. Good location. 7-11 right there and places like the red lion for food and of course a short walk to any action and BTS.

Any new intel on the hotel on soi 11/1 that was the Grand Swiss?
In April it was being worked on and in November looking like the work was coming to an end.

Look them up.Can I ask how much they charged? One amateurish looking website said 3500b which I took to be a misprint. Another quoted 53.55aud (1300ish bt). There seems to be a huge amount of options (on google at least).
All prices and services on their website.

Didn't see much of it!How did HKG go? I may have to go through there soon.
Was only inside about 20 mins.
By time the 1st flight landed and did a very long taxi run around the airport it was finally time to leave the plane.
As we came off those of us going onto BKK were rushed to a security check that took about 30 seconds then straight from gate 35 to gate 28.
Then we joined the back of the queue to the already boarding connecting flight.
Cathay Pacific had cut it that fine.

I landed on the 17th and I booked Bangkok Limousine fast track service.Hi,
Anyone know what the immigration lines are like at BKK these days? I arrive at 1950 in three weeks time and hoping for a quick exit for obvious reasons!
Am glad I did as my time of landing was 10:40 am and immigration was very busy.
Fast track meant I was off the plane and out of the airport in 10 mins.

I hope not but if it is the case then I hope Cathay know what they are doing. It will be cutting it really fine.
-
Yea Rocco I think so also.
50 mins is maybe the average person walking normally or with a family. A dude like me going at warp factor 9 to the next gate could make it.
-
Update,
I have called Cathay twice.
1st time was to ask about any covid restrictions and if need to go through any security. I was told no restrictions apart from wearing a mask and showing proof of covid injections.
2nd time was to ask about my flights, I got an e-mail saying one flight the times have changed.
It was, CX 252 going at 11.15 and land 0700 at HKG but now it's 11.15 take off and land 0740
Now is where it gets interesting, the next flight from HKG to BKK is CX705, which takes off at 0830.
The dude says Cathay recommends 50 mins to transit from one flight to another. I will have 45 mins. I have been looking at a map of terminal 1 and as far as I can tell I just have to go from one floor to the next and then to the right gate. I think I can do it as long as there is no need to go through security or any other hold-ups.
I am only taking hand luggage which is a bonus.
So, have any of you used that airport before? Do you think I can do it in 45 mins?
Also, the flights coming back have changed meaning I have less transit time at HKG again.
But then the dude says that if one flight is late taking off from LHR going or from BKK coming back then the next flight will have to wait.
So then I wonder why he was eager to sell me another flight a few moments ago. If the LHR to HKG flight is late taking off and let's face it LHR aint the best airport by far, then I got nothing to worry about. The next flight based on what he said will have to wait.

I am gonna call them and see if I can get some intel.

5 hours ago, oliver17 said:Cathay Pacific connects thousands of passengers at HKG every day and have doing so for decades. Assuming your 1st flight (Heathrow?) departs reasonably on time, there is no need to worry about missing your connecting flight at HKG. Airlines use algorithms that will account for precisely what time your 1st flight arrived at HKG gate that day and exactly how long the lines are at transit security at that particular moment. If your flight arrives slightly late or the lines at security are longer than expected, Cathay will adjust your 2nd flight's departure time accordingly. There will be other passengers on your plane with the identical travel itinerary as yours and Cathay won't be leaving anybody behind because doing so just creates headaches for them.
I have flown Cathay on several trips to Thailand and transited through HKG on all of them. The longest transit security ever took was maybe 10 minutes. Lines can move slower at HKG than other airports, but Cathay knows that better than anybody and they account for it. Relax and enjoy your trip.
I pay little heed to travel reviews on trip advisor etc. because many of them are written by Karen-types who complain about everything under the sun.
Yes, they carry loads of people. And also yes some reviews are to be doubted but some of the reviews don't paint a good picture of that airport at all.

I ended up getting Sony 1000XM4 in the end.
Am very happy with them.

DOXY pep & PrEP together?
in Health Issues
Posted
Yes, I read the same things about both. Doxy seems to have more possible side effects and says no alcohol when taking Doxy. I am no big drinker but do like a drink or three at the weekends.
Now while alcohol can effect any medication Doxy seems to have a few I don't like the sound of. When I get to my Dean St appointment I will ask their advice.
